"Public opinion will change drastically when the full story is out." - I believe public opinion of these individuals has already changed drastically from the time before Phoebe's death to after. The accused are no longer the "in" crowd and people are waking up!

omg - I already went off on a rant with this "whole story" crap a few pages back for several paragraphs but it never fails to PISS me the f off when I read it. ugh..lots of words I want to say but don't want to get banned! I don't know what sort of whole story will come out that will make us be like "oh, okay, these girls are awesome, phoebe sucked, lalala". I seriously can't WAIT to hear this whole story! grumble grumble.

I agree. What could the "whole story" be? What could they possibly say that would cause a dramatic shift in the public's perception whereas everyone would say "Oh, now I get why they bullied her, it all makes sense now"

I didn't know there was one with her on the cover? This one is dated 4/19 and has Bieber on the cover.

Can someone please go start a People thread? tittle it 4.19.2010 People Magazine article. Thanks!

Phoebe's cover is dated April 26, 2010.

I think the article here pretty much whitewashed the bullying and left out MUCH of the information from the charging affidavits. However, I realize that they probably had to keep it on the lighter side because much of the language would be too offensive to print.

As far as there being "a whole story".....there would be witnesses to that, just as there were to the bullying, and NO ONE has come forward with anything that would justify even ONE comment or slur from these girls. If there is a whole story, how come no other kids at the school seem to know about that part when they knew and saw everything else?

Yes I want to know what the "whole story" is as well. Bear you were so right on in your rant. You spoke what I was thinking. But you put less curse words than I would have.

I just read the article posted at the top of the page from IrishCentral, and noticed some things. Here are a few quotes and my responses:

"'Early that morning she was " skipping around, she seemed great," a female friend said."

- Doesn't really sound like someone suicidal to me. In most cases people who are suicidal tend to separate their bonds (to whatever degree) shortly before their act.

"But after lunch Phoebe, seemed increasingly despondent to friends. She described an incident of bullying to them and said "I'll find a way out of this problem.""

- To me this actually sounds like it could have been more optimistic than anything. This is a statement in writing, with lack of vocal inflection to determine the spirit of her statement, so I can see how to the reader it looks more ominous. It also wouldn't take much to twist this very same statement to her impressionable young friends in hind sight.

"Little did the friends know she was talking about killing herself."

- The author is still under the assumption that it was suicide, and thus inferred that the friends could not have derived any further meaning from what she said.

"Her death confounded her friends, who pointed out that she signed off her text messages with a saying "life is an opportunity in itself."

-If you put this together with the above statements, it sounds to me like despite what she was going through, she was an eternal optimist. Optimists tend not to off themselves because optimists tend to see the bright side of things, present and future.

Also might I point out that if she were a writer and poet, then surely somewhere in her writings she would have mentioned her lack of will to live, and surely she would have shared such writings with one of her closest friends. I'm just thinking back to my days in high school and how kids were. It would be nice to know what was in her writings the week of her death.

Kris,

First, welcome to Websleuths. Glad you joined in.

The case has been ruled a suicide. The last thing the family needs is anyone on the Internet suggesting otherwise. Perhaps that is not what you are doing so forgive me if I am wrong.

We are careful not to inflict any more harm on the victims so I just wanted to make sure you were not going in another direction.

The article DID have some great new witness statement from other students that I hadn't heard before. The kids said that Phoebe actually personally apologized to both Kayla and Flannery when she found out that they considered themselves to be the boys girlfriends.

I think kids/teens are impulsive and that suicide can be an impulsive act. It may not be a clear cut example, but Megan Meier comes to mind.

yea that really stood out to me. I just didn't want to start talking about it too early before others had read the whole article. Plus it said in November her and SM were seen walking around the hallways, talking and laughing like best friends. Helps a bit with the timeline.

I googled this Grace S girl's name. The first thing that comes up?

She was a huge supporter of the mean girls. She's no longer on facebook that I can tell. I will find out more though.

It's no longer vaild. It has "not found"...keep digging, Waddup...;)

I heard the same re; Grace. It's rather depressing...there are so many people in this world that say one thing, and do another.

A HA! I did some digging and found that a teacher helped organize that peace rally too.

There's a friend of Phoebe who is friends with Shae who is a Sean supporter. WTF?!

Interesting, waddupyo. Teacher being involved is interesting. Wonder who she is and how she's connected? IMO, that would make a great post. Tying together the rally oraganizers to the administration and/or bullies.

ETA: and...maybe..we should take our websleuthing over to our fancy, new, websleuthing thread! :) I'm thinking, it saves Daisy moving the posts, later...

I don't think that every student or a student involved teacher at SHH is indifferent to what has happened in South Hadley. It is important to remember, imvho, that there are good people who are suffering the residual effects of all this. And, they are just kids in high school. It's not black or white. One "side" or the "other side". There is much grey that has been forgotten.

These students, as well as some faculty (because we have no idea who knew about this or not), need to keep their spirits up. To "rally" together in support of each other. Isn't that what we all wanted for Phoebe? It may have been too late for her, but at least someone is trying to keep in touch with these kids. It bothers me, personally, that a microscope is being used against every person/student. The mob mentality that so many have witnessed and suffered by.

I'm just thinking of the innocents. Adults and students alike.....

K, peeps. We are going to have to hold back on the suicide/murder thread. When we have something concrete, that brings in valid doubt, Tricia said she would consider re-opening...fair, imo. I thought it might be a tad too far...but it was worth a shot. :)

Just me pushing the envelope, again. ;)

I agree. IMO, THEY are the reason pressure needs to be kept up and change needs to come.

I don't buy the idea it was all done in good faith, ordinarylife. Some may have been there with those good intentions...sure, no doubt. But it's the organizers and THEIR intent that I have questions about.
