this was actually something else I was going to comment about. I found this a few days ago. Someone else commented this: "sadly it wasnt just bullying. most of it was problems at home, depression for years before she came to the US, and even some drugs :[ she needed help but wouldnt get it, and her friends didnt want to get her in trouble."

also, thanks for the welcomes! :D

I'm not buying the drugs or depression claim, since I believe those would have been shouted from the rooftops as a defense from day one, if they were true.

Welcome to WS!! :)

I've read about that, but haven't seen it myself. Just as an FYI, we are not to link to FB pages of minors. Also, even with adults, please don't copy and paste from FB. You can just paraphase or even say go check this out and provide the link.

ah, thanks so much! I just quoted someone from the deviant art site that Paladine had linked to earlier - if that's bad I'll take it down and rephrase.

As far as AR's sister's comment - she stated that her brother had dated Phoebe a couple months ago and when she told him about Phoebe killing herself he told her what had happened and started laughing. She seemed to be disgusted by it.

Also, another girl's facebook I saw who seemed to be friends with Phoebe (although it's difficult to tell who her real friends were) stated that the day after Phoebe committed suicide people were still talking bad about her in school. Very sad.

This Pete guy things guys are worse at bullying than women. He clearly doesn't understand the female mind.

I tend to agree. It's possible she may have experimented but I don't think she was a full on "druggie" since as you said it probably would be a more well known fact by now. Also, it's possible she suffered from some mild depression being away from her home in Ireland and some of her family, plus just being a 14-15 year old girl brings it's own issues by itself, but as far as being bipolar or manic depressive or anything like that I'm not sure I see it.

Me, neither. The reports from Ireland do not support that. They also called her a wh**e, and we know that's not true. She was a child, for God's sake.

I don't trust it. She seems, from my reading, to be no different than many other kids. But, I must say...after 3 months of torment and no help...I think I'd get depressed.

Exactly. And yet this kid says Phoebe had "depression for years before she came to the US, and even some drugs..."

That is the first time I've read any such claims, but maybe I missed them. A look at the profile of the girl who wrote it makes me doubtful, though.

I've read in a couple places that people also called her a druggie which makes me think that maybe she did smoke pot a few times or something but it could be completely unfounded and just random name calling, as it seems much of this was.

I live in Canada. Hearing a 15 yr old youth has tried pot is not surprising, to me. Out of the youth I know, it's about 50/50. We have talked for years, as a country, about decriminalizing. IMO...BECAUSE too many youth get caught up with a criminal record for youthful indiscretions.

You have to remember that people who post on internet aren't necessarily who they say they are. Even if somebody did post some claims regarding what was said, how do you verify that whatever was posted is accurate and whoever posted it is who they say they are?

I totally agree with you. I don't think the fact that she may have tried pot, or even may have done it on a more regular basis, is a big deal at all, but I'm not everybody and many people here still have very conservative views when it comes to that. Unfortunately if that were true and came to light during a trial it could reflect negatively on her. Not that I agree with that at all and it definitely doesn't take away from the bullying she had to deal with but I'm sure it would get twisted that way.

Ashely Longe threw the drink container...so, I assume she was in the car.
Ashley Longe, whose last known address was 536 Newton St., is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (drink container), criminal harassment, disturbing a school assembly and a civil rights violation resulting in bodily injury.

There are 6 students charged, not 9...
Previous Gazette reports incorrectly stated a total of nine teenagers had been charged in the case.
Dr. Phil was there, so we should be able to find video online...as well as 2 documentary crews...
The story of Prince's suicide and the subsequent criminal proceedings sparked national media attention that reached fever pitch this week, including being covered on the "Dr. Phil" show Thursday afternoon.
Outside the courthouse Thursday, about 13 television news cameras were on hand from Springfield and Boston stations, as well as CNN and NECN. A number of print media reporters and photographers also attended the proceeding.

It was a slightly smaller turnout than for Tuesday's court proceedings, which attracted the likes of "Good Morning America" and even two documentary film crews.

I can't help but think it had to be inside. The first newstories would have jumped on her being outside because it would have been so unusual (in daylight, no less).

I agree it would be very unusual.

IMO...even if a person is wasted, on the street drunk...no one has the right to harass or stalk them. I honestly have faith the jurors will see that. Now, the rape charges? Who knows...but the D.A. and Grand Jury seem to think they do.

I'm obviously not these people and don't know them. From what I've seen, I have no reason to believe that the two facebook's I got that information from were not the people they said they were. There was and is no question in my mind that they were students from SHHS who were at least somewhat familiar with the situation. Why one would post that people were still saying crap about Phoebe the day after she died when it wasn't true doesn't make sense to me but hey, maybe she did lie. And maybe AR's sister lied about his reaction for some reason. Maybe everybody is making everything up. How do we ever really know in that case? I just don't see any reason why they would be just be saying those things for the sake of saying it. But I'm just me and in no position to verify that everybody's facebook account is who they say they are. I just see nothing to suggest that these students aren't who they say they are.

Well the charges are statutory rape so they have to do with her being under 16 years of age.
I presume DA would have to prove the sex took place and nothing else because 15 year old girl is not legally able to consent under MA law.
Now, whether DA could prove the sex took place is another story because the girl is dead, so she would not be able to testify whether it did or did not.

I doubt if that is any more factual than any of the other accusations. The things we do have as facts do not support drug use or depression at all: good grades, involved in activities, overall good health, clear skin, healthy teeth and hair----all of those would be affected by drug use. The pictures taken of her show a proper concern with her appearance, along with a general vitality and humor---not signs of depression, either.

I don't think you can diagnose depression from a photo, sorry.
I am not saying that the girl did or did not have depression-I have no idea. But the photo won't tell you.
