Police in Tenerife are searching for a missing British woman who vanished from outside a bar on Friday.

Amy Louise Gerard, 28, originally from Cleethorpes, was last seen outside Irish bar Molly Malone's in Puerto de la Cruz in the early hours of Friday morning.

University-educated Amy, from Cleethorpes, Lincs, describes herself on social media as a killer whale trainer at Tenerife marine theme park Loro Parque – home to orca whale Morgan.

Amy, who lives in Puerto de la Cruz and studied animal behaviour science at the University of Lincoln, has also worked as a marine mammal trainer at a zoo in France.

Amy is around 5ft 8ins tall, with curly brown hair and blue eyes.

Friend Tonette Smith said: “Just so everyone knows this is a local lass.

“Amy Louise Gerard from Cleethorpes lives in Tenerife working with sea mammals.

“Amy has been missing since Thursday midnight. She loves her work and is grounded, she is not flighty.

“Amy is beautiful inside and outside.”

Laura Mumby said alongside a photo of Amy on a missing poster: “If you or anyone you know is going to Tenerife or the Canary Islands soon, please keep an eye out for Amy who has been missing since Thursday.

“We are all very concerned. This is so out of character.”

Amy’s university flatmate Natalie Taylor added: “Please if anyone knows anything or has seen Amy Louise Gerard can they please get in touch.

“Friends and family are increasingly worried. Amy was my flatmate at uni and she is amazing.”

Cleethorpes is very close to where I live, as is Lincoln. A lot of my friends went to Lincoln uni. I hope she's okay.

Ms Gerard, who works as a trainer of killer whales at Tenerife’s Loro Parque theme park, had been on a night out with work friends for a birthday.

She left Irish Molly Malone pub in Puerto de la Cruz with her boyfriend but they became separated.

Ms Gerard, who studied animal behaviour science at the University of Lincoln, is believed to still be married to Ryan Docherty, her estranged husband, who still lives in the UK.

Doubtful on a Thursday night in November. It’s not high tourist season right now and Puerto de la Cruz is not a place many tourists stay to begin with. I wonder who her boyfriend is and how long they’ve been dating. Is he also a foreigner or is he a local?

From her FB it looks like she was still with her ex (Ryan, with whom she remains friends) earlier this year. He seems to have come back to the UK and she's stayed in Tenerife and is a killer whale trainer - cool!

Good to hear the Lucie Blackman Trust is still going and is helping Amy's family.

Missing Amy Gerard seen singing and dancing in Irish pub with German boyfriend minutes before she vanished

The video was shot at Molly Malone Irish pub in Puerto de la Cruz, on the Spanish island of Tenerife where she lives and works, just past midnight on Friday morning.

Amy, 28, joins other drinkers dancing in a circle to the Pogues song Fairytale Of New York.

Standing next to fellow marine wildlife trainer and boyfriend Dennis Kissling, Amy at one point even turns and blows a kiss to the camera as she enjoys a night out with colleagues.

Witnesses said as the pair later walked out of the bar, Amy turned left and Dennis turned right, going their separate ways. Amy has not been seen since.

I googled the address of the pub and looked at a map. It is located in a narrow side road very close to the ocean, could she have gone for a walk? Maybe she fell in. I know that Gran Canaria has spots with steep cliffs down to the ocean, maybe it's similar in Tenerife. Maybe someone with local knowledge can find that out. I don't see a streetview option on the map.

There is also the Plaza de Europa and a fast food restaurant "Salina Express" in the direction she reportedly left. Could she have gone to grab a bite? Not sure how long they're open though.

Certainly doesn't look like there's any tension on that video, they're having a great night!

Same article also says Amy turned right and Dennis went left so who knows. Anyone know where she lived?

The remains were discovered in the sea opposite the lighthouse in the city of Puerto de la Cruz where 28-year-old Amy Gerard, who was originally from Grimsby, lived.

Police searching for a British animal trainer who is missing in Tenerife have found a woman's body near the spot where she disappeared.

The remains were discovered in the sea opposite the lighthouse in the city of Puerto de la Cruz where 28-year-old Amy Gerard, who was originally from Grimsby, lived.

This isn't good.

It's about 7 mins walk from Molly Malone's to the lighthouse acc. google maps. It doesn't really look like somewhere you'd go swimming.
