Aravaca is one of the best and safest districts in Madrid.

The article in Spanish below says that the investigation points to her disappearance being “voluntary” and that the car had no signs of violence.

“La investigación de Policía Nacional se centre en que la desaparición de la de la esquiadora y medallista olímpica Blanca Fernández Ochoa fue "voluntaria" y que el examen ocular del vehículo hallado este domingo en Cercedilla no revela ningún indicio de "violencia".”

The police in this article say that at any moment she may be found safe and sound. I hope they are not jumping the gun.

“Los portavoces de Policía y Guardia Civil que coordinan el dispositivo de búsqueda puesto en marcha para encontrar el paradero de deportista y medallista olímpica Blanca Fernández Ochoa, han asegurado esta tarde que creen que la esquiadora todavía "puede ser localizada en perfecto estado".”

The mysterious "like" of Blanca Fernández Ochoa on her daughter's picture

Her daughter Olivia, a rugby player, reported her missing on the 23rd, and precisely on her Instagram a mysterious "like" has been found that has caught the attention of social media users. It is a "like" by Blanca Fernández Ochoa's profile in Olivia's latest publication, uploaded just three days ago.

Olivia decided to stop the possible rumors and replied with a brief "it was me", which sparked even more questions.

So, Olivia reported her mother missing on August 23 and, on August 29 she liked her own picture with her mother's Instagram account. Blanca left her phone at home so, it is possible that Olivia was looking through her mom's phone to get some clues, maybe she snooped around Instagram and accidentally liked a picture. It's an interesting coincidence that she like her own picture and not somebody else's picture. This case is pretty weird.

Spain’s National Police said Fernández, 56, has been missing since she was last spotted on surveillance video at a shopping center on Aug. 24.

Her car was later found in Cercedilla, a mountainous village and resort popular with hikers where Fernández’s family has deep roots.

Well that’s different. Earlier reports said the car was found in Aravaca which is no where near Cercedilla. Her family is originally from this town. I hope they find her soon!

I'm pretty sure that's not correct. She was last seen in Aravaca, her car was found in Cercedilla. I don't recall ever reading anywhere about the car being found in Aravaca but I could totally be wrong.

August 23: Olivia Fresneda, called the Las Rozas Police, where she lives with her mother, to give the alert that she was believed to be missing. At this point, Olivia was in Murcia and the Las Rozas Police advised her to make the missing person's report to the Aravaca Police, because Blanca was staying there with her sister.

August 24: Confirmed sighting of Blanca at a grocery store in
Pozuelo de Alarcón in Madrid. Pozuelo is very close to Aravaca, where she was staying with her family.

August 31: The Police makes Blanca's disappearance public.

September 01: Her car was found, by her brother, at 1 A.M., still in Madrid, at Las Dehesas de Cercedilla. The car was subjected to forensic analysis and no fingerprints were found, besides those of Blanca. The vehicle was parked, doors locked, no sings of it being abandoned in any way.

  • Blanca told her family that she was going to spend four days "up North" to hike, but never specified where exactly. At first, it was believed that she might have gone to Asturias, because it was possible to find web searches in her computer for places to stay in Aturias, but she also searched places to stay in Soria and Navarra.
  • Blanca left her phone at home.
  • She hasn't used her credit or debit cards.
  • Blanca suffers from bipolar disorder and takes medication everyday.
  • The Police believes that Blanca left voluntarily, the family belives that she might have had an accident while hiking.

My first thoughts when they said she was likely missing voluntarily and her car was found away from where she lives was a possible depression/suicide. I hope they find her alive and well and she just took a necessary break from life. JMO MOO

Yeah, I don't think there's any foul play involved. She knows the area where he car was found very well, it appears she liked to hike there.

So, her kids were right all along. They were so worried that something like this had happened and that's why they were searching. So sad.
