There have been a DNA match to the remains found earlier this year in a small Aragon town. It was in deed Maria Dominguez Remon, the first female mayor of the second republic, who had been found. She had been killed in 1936 by troops loyal to general Franco during the Spanish Civil War. She seems to have been quite a remarkable woman.
Family of trailblazing female Spanish mayor hail DNA match to remains
Poet, pioneer... can family finally honour legacy of Franco victim?
