Is the driver of the van in custody or did he escape?

Is the younger brother alive & in custody?

IMHO driver of the van escaped.

No news about the younger brother sofar.

The person who died of a self inflicted wound in a car was not related to the terror attack.

This is beginning to sound like a game of Cluedo.....

Spanish PM says Barcelona van attack result of 'jihadist terrorism'
Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said the van attack in Barcelona that has killed at least 13 people was "jihadist terrorism" which required a global response.

"Today the fight against terrorism is the principal priority for free and open societies like ours. It is a global threat and the response has to be global," Rajoy told a news conference in Barcelona.

He said he would call on other Spanish political parties to reaffirm the country's anti-terrorism pact.

Suspects killed in Cambrils

Police say they have killed “perpetrators” during the counter-terror raid in Cambrils.

Roger Rovira, a journalist with TV3, is in Vic, 80km away from Barcelona, where a second van – presumed to be a getaway vehicle – that had been hired at the same time from the Telefurgo rental company in Sabadell, was found.

Rovira says police officers are attempting to open the van, but have sent in robots to check it, presumably for explosives. Journalists and others have been warned to stay back.

Great job!

I'm so sad for the victims and their families. I'm so sad for Europe.

I shouldn't read this thread because it will make me worry. My son is in Europe right now along with a group of friends from college. He sent me photos from his visit to Spain a few days ago. He also sent me an itinerary because he knows I am apprehensive about his trip. Of course I know these kind of attacks can happen anywhere.

Graffiti should not be underestimated as an alert, imo.
http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/barcelona-car-crash-1.4251171
In recent weeks, threatening graffiti against tourists has appeared in Barcelona, which draws at least 11 million visitors a year. In one video released under the slogan "Tourism Kills Neighbourhoods," several hooded individuals stopped a tourist bus in Barcelona, slashed the tires and spray-painted the windscreen.

My heart goes out to you, any parent would be so happy that the kids are traveling and experiencing the world, but holy sleepless nights till they get home again!
He will be fine, security is out and about and on high alert to keep everyone safe.

The fifth suspect shot during an apparent terrorist attack in Cambrils has died, Catalonia police say. The suspect was injured when police launched an operation to foil Spain's attack in less than 12 hours.
Fifteen people - out of more than 100 injured - remain in a critical condition following Thursday's attack in Barcelona, officials say. Two of the seven hurt in the Cambrils attack were also seriously injured.
El Mundo newspaper has cited a Catalan government spokesman as saying that police believe the terror suspects were driving round the town of Cambrils in an Audi A3 before they were shot dead. Spanish media reports that the attackers had plowed the vehicle into several pedestrians in a similar incident to the Barcelona assault.

Friday 18 August 2017 05.39 BST
Here’s what we we know so far:
  • Thirteen people have been killed in the attack in Barcelona claimed by Isis that happened shortly after 5pm local time on Thursday, Catalonia’s interior minister Joaquim Forn has confirmed.
  • Hours later, police killed five terror suspects in the town of Cambrils as they ran over pedestrians. The suspects were travelling in an Audi A3 and some were wearing what looked like explosive belts. Six civilians and one police officer were injured.
  • Police are linking the killings in Cambril, the Barcelona attack and an explosion on Wednesday night in a house in Alcanar 200km away, in which one person died and several were injured. A second blast injured emergency services personnel, bringing the injury toll to 16, according to Spanish reports.
  • In Barcelona, one Belgian has been confirmed dead. Three Germans are also reportedly among the victims.
  • About 100 people were injured and 15 are in serious condition. The injured include three Australians, three Dutch, and three Greeks – a woman and her two children. At least 18 nationalities were affected, including France, Venezuela, Ireland, Peru, Algeria and China, according to Spain’s civil protection agency.
