The man who was found dead in the vehicle that struck an agent of the Mossos at a control post of the avenue Diagonal on Thursday died of stab wounds and not by shots of the agents, reason why the police investigates now the possible relation of the event with the attack of Barcelona.

But it has now been revealed that the owner of the vehicle - not the driver - was found dead inside after being stabbed, possibly in a carjacking.

Catalonia's interior minister, Joaquim Form, told local radio that the car was smashed into the police checkpoint on the Avenida Diagonal before being dumped in Sant Just Desvern.

Two officers were hurt and one suffered a broken leg as police opened fire in an attempt to stop the car.

Josep Lluis Trapero, head of police in Catalonia, said the dead man was Spanish and not connected to the terror attacks.

The fourth arrest that has been made a short while ago is the man believed to be the driver of the car, and thus possibly the murderer of the man found stabbed to death.
The man arrested is a 34-year-old Moroccan national linked to the wanted Moussa Oukabir.

A SINGLE AGENT OF THE MOSSOS SHOT FOUR OF THE TERRORISTS IN CAMBRILS

El Pais
https://politica.elpais.com/politic.../1503059332_365185.html?id_externo_rsoc=TW_CM

A single agent from the Mossos d'Esquadra shot dead at least four of the terrorists who had just overturned with their car in the roundabout of the Club Nàutic in Cambrils, as several witnesses confirmed to Efe.

An Audi A3 with five terrorists tipped over in that roundabout, located at the confluence of the Passeig Miramar, the Passeig Marítim and the Rambla de Jaume I, in the area of the Port of Cambrils, after running over several passers-by.

The Audi turned over after ramming a police car that closed the way, which caused injuries to an agent in one leg and in the head.

Four terrorists emerged from the overturned car. They were armed with stabbing weapons such as knives, machetes and axes. They headed for an agent of the Mossos, who downed them with his service gun.

A fifth terrorist ran towards Salou with a knife and was intercepted by undercover agents of the Mossos, who fired some warning shots until, when it became clear that he neither idropped a gun nor isurrendered, he was shot down, as it is observed in a video recorded by a local of Cambrils.

In addition to another wounded police officer, the terrorists trampled or assaulted six passers-by, one of whom, a woman whose identity has not been published, has died on Friday at Joan XXIII Hospital in Tarragona.

MOUSSA OUKABIR FACES PRISON TIME OF 10 YEARS TO THE MAX BECAUSE HE IS STILL A MINOR

Alleged jihadist murderer will turn 18 in october

El Pais
https://politica.elpais.com/politic.../1503057964_467095.html?id_externo_rsoc=TW_CM

In the event that Moussa Oukabir would be confirmed as the perpetrator of this attack, as well as captured alive and brought to justice, the applicable law would be the one that regulates the responsibility of the minor, given that he committed the crime while he was still under 18 years.

Article 11.2 of this law states that when the offense committed is terrorism, the "closed-in custodial measure may reach a maximum period of ten years for persons over the age of sixteen and six years for those who are younger than that age, without prejudice to the measure of probation which, in a complementary manner, must be imposed under that article "

Mossos, TEDAX and firefighters work in search of explosives in the house of Alcanar. According to police, a deflagration thwarted a major attack

BBM

TEDAX: Technical Specialists in Deactivation of Explosive Artifacts

Deflagration is subsonic combustion propagating through heat transfer; hot burning material heats the next layer of cold material and ignites it (Wikipedia). Deflagration is not detonation, nor an explosion, but don't ask me to explain the difference, because I do not understand it, and neighbors have told that something went BOOM.

Apparently, LE suspects that not everything deflagrated, there is more, and they are looking for it.

On the Chareleston thread I had to get duct tape to prevent myself from getting banned in response to that post about that being a pedestrian accident

all we can hope is that no one directly involved saw that hideous post

I am happy to report that it took me three hours to get out of my duct tape so I did not get trouble

I reread it thinking I may have missed a word or something

scary stuff

Could you please post a link to the thread you're referring to Cariis. Thanks!

There are conflicting info about him being located safe. Apparently, he had been cared by Social Services.
Antena3 gave this info, but was disproved.

Need to wait for confirmation (following news in Spanish, helps my learning)

In the meantime, we can't rule out he's in care with the local Social Services and LE is too busy with the chaotic situation.
Or local Child and Adolescent psych wards.

Same for the other missing children: can't rule out that they are entrusted to local Social Services or C&A psych ward

OCCUPIED HOUSE IN ALCANAR WAS SITE OF PREPARATION FOR MAJOR ATTACK WITH GAS CYLINDERS

El Pais

In Alcanar (Tarragona) on Wednesday night an explosion was reported in a house. One person was killed and seven were injured. At first, the incident was attributed to an accumulation of gas, but on Thursday afternoon, the security forces linked this event with the attack in Barcelona.

Inside the building, which had been occupied by squatters for some months, more than 20 butane and propane gas cylinders were found.
The Mossos have confirmed that the house was the site of preparation for a major attack since a long time and that the fortuitous explosion of butane cylinders thwarted a "far-reaching" attack in Barcelona.

One of the occupants of the house, born in Melilla, is wounded and has been detained. He is recovering favorably from his wounds and has become a fundamental element for the investigation.

On Friday afternoon a second corpse from another of the suspects was retrieved from the rubble of the house.

The Catalan authorities have arrested three suspects in Ripoll (Girona) for their connection to the attack, and a resident from the damaged chalet. Of the five killed in Cambrils, there is only one identified and not detained. The cell would consist of 12 terrorists.

The photos of four of the suspects have been distributed to all police units given the possibility that they may have left Catalonia.
One of those arrested in Ripoll is the Moroccan Driss Oukabir, 28, brother of the main suspect. The other two have been arrested this Friday.

That street where it happened did have like a long metal protective barrier on one side of the street to keep autos from getting to the sidewalk. And they had the cement flower or tree pots every X number of feet to also protect pedestrians.

I think the problem may have been on the other side of the street where they may have not had that protection. Or I could be looking at the wrong street.

The point is I do think more of these types of cement barriers need to be in place wherever tourists and pedestrians congregate in shopping areas.

Lots of places have these sorts of things and I guess we just need to have more of them.

Its so sad that we have to take steps to prevent these insane people with twisted morals from killing people.

These terrorists need to look themselves in a mirror and ask themselves if it gets to the point where you are willing to kill random innocent men women and children of all faiths then ask yourself what kind of miserable life you must be living where that even becomes a thought to entertain?

If your life is that miserable then how about changing your own life and do something productive with it.

Still catching up, O/T, Hatfield, I was walking in a downtown area yesterday and noticed some barriers (not concrete, but rather asthetic)...I thought of your post and wonder if these were implemented to protect against this...maybe not, but I imagined a scenario like yesterday and it was horrific to think about..is the US next? Likely, imo.

Eta: Missing Foxfire here, again, as usual. He was so very knowledgable about ISIS..ahead of his time, really....
