Specific DP Verdicts in Florida

I think the three pieces of duct tape across Caylee's face is enough evidence to give ICA the death penalty. And the absolute clincher will be the heart that was put on the tape.
How cruel can a mother be?

We shall see. The SA originally took the DP off the table as an option however, once Caylee's remains were discovered and processed they put it back. Is it because of the duct tape or something we have not seen or heard?

Some speculate that the SA are using the DP charge as a means to seat a 'death qualified jury' that will be more conservative and more likely to convict ICA.

Remember, JA presented his theory at a motion hearing of ICA drugging Caylee to render her helpless and then applying one piece of duct tape after another -- as ICA methodically snuffed out Caylee's life and then dumped her like trash. As we all know, ICA went on to search for Caylee in clubs, parties and boyfriend's beds.

While I tend to believe ICA will get LIFE as a Mother who murdered her Child ... it all depends on that presentation of events from JA/LDB.

If I was in the Jury and the theory presented to me was the one by JA and .... "the last thing little Caylee saw was the look in ICA's murderous eyes" -- it would easily push me towards a DP sentence.

Women Who Have Received The Death Penalty in Florida

Florida Dept. of Corrections Death Row Fact Sheet:

That first link. What is the deal with all these women who were originally sentenced to death having their terms changed to life, with a 25 year minimum? The entire first group ALL had their death sentences reversed.

So, even if Casey receives the death penalty it means nothing, really? She's likely to have the jury's decision overturned? How does this happen and who makes those decisions?

I'm not sure of the exact process, but this should help, it's the Capital Case Statutes:

I can, due to the nature of the murder itself, the innocence of the victim, and Casey's behavior around that time and since.

And by the way, I have never seen so many women express so much anger and hatred toward another woman. She could well be the most-hated woman in this country (and her defense team hasn't helped).

Once the jurors have sat through all of the evidence, the days of misleading and vague testimony of the paid witnesses, and all of Casey's lies, and then patiently listened to Roy Kronk and others being ripped apart, all while Casey is portrayed as being the victim of a frame-up, they will have had quite enough. And if they weren't disgusted by her at the beginning of the trial, you can be sure they will be by the end.

I couldn't agree more, Bullwinkle! I think a reasonable jury is going to be disgusted with KC, CA, GA, LA, JB, and CM by the time this trial is halfway through! And the more they lie, collude, and point the finger while giving not one reasonable explanation as to what happened, the jury is going to get angry! JMO, of course. And, welcome to Websleuths!

The defendant has a certain amount of time to file an appeal to the appellate court, and then State Supreme Court if need be. Thank goodness HH Judge Perry has a tight grip on this case!

Well, that was an interesting read. Casey will fit right in with the woman who buried a couple alive and is on death row.

Lets see she had Caylee in the trunk, with tape over her mouth and her nose - and put in a hot trunk. That cannot have felt good.

I want to know how they are going to get around the Hinkel tape in the house and on the victim and the knife found in the car has a "strand" of the tape on it. And it had been washed in the dishwasher by Cindy. Still they got evidence. Really good work.

Also, if they are going for sexual abuse, it tells me that they are every which way but loose. Just in case lets get the abuse in there - we'll probably need it.

She will have some company soon, I think:
