I agree that not every house in the burbs has all the toys ..but to me it just goes to show that all the important and minor toys seem to be Drew's. He has the camper, the motorcycles, the pool, the ultrlight, etc...they have a nice home, fairly large backyard..I just would have expected something to show of the younger kids being there. Stacy didn't work, they weren't in daycare..so if they are such an outdoor family and so family oriented where are the toys that two and four year olds play with? My recollection of that age is that a hike turns out to be more of a carry me experience. Not too many two year olds inline skate or play soccer.
I did preface it by saying it was a small thing, but to me it seems like their life was just more geared to Drew and the older boys, not the younger two children.
The pool, motorcycles and travel trailer were for Stacy also.

In their mess of a garage I have seen the kids bikes and other riding toys for the little ones.

Thanks Tom'sGirl.. that garage is so stacked I didn't even see anything other then the mess and Paul hanging on to the fridge or whatever.

I think the boys have always been the ones to take care of thier little siblings on many occasions. When Cassandra stopped by late at night all four were at the home alone.
You mean before Stacy went missing? Where was she?

No, the night DP was supposedly out looking for Stacy and Cassandra came to the house at 11:00 p.m.

I am thinking that these two young boys must indeed have such a connection to the little ones, that to split them all up would be another crime.

On the other hand, they all deserve to be with family that loves them. Kathleens mom and dad seem rather old to take on the two boys, as I recall.

The tots most likely will fare better not being able to put all the pieces together at this young age. IF they are placed where they can be loved and enabled to thrive, and continue to see their 'brothers', maybe will work itself out over time to their advantage.

For the young boys it will be a totally different outcome, with horrible memories of their parentage that will shadow them for the rest of their lives.

Yes, I agree. It seems they are built in babysitters for DP. I think before that Stacy was home with them, but it is obvious...except for them going to get suckers at Sharon's, they were alone a lot during that day and well into the night there while DP was out doing God knows what! :furious:

They are old enough to watch the younger ones, especially if they are in bed sleeping...however, this too in part is going to be DP's undoing. If Cassandra hadn't gone over and spoken to Kris...she probably wouldn't have learned about the "fight". Cassandra also mentioned something else he said, but refused to elaborate on it.

They keep saying it has already been worked out about what will happen with the children. They give no hints about what that means or where they will be if DP should be arrested.

Kathleen's family has no standing with the court because Stacy adopted the boys, imo. I also hope they aren't split up and continue on as a family. I think this will be very important to all of the children as they have to go through all the pain and sorrow growing up. They need one another to lean on.

Would Drew have a say in this as well as the children. RMucha has said that Steve is ready and prepared to take the children if need be, but that doesn't say that is what has been asked..but I would think Drew has asked him to take the children if he is arrested. If the children lived with Steve in DP and Stacy's house at the time of Kathleen's death then they are probably very close to Steve.

Somewhere in the pastor (I think) threads/interviews, I read that DP bought SP the motorcycle in August, September or October (can't remember which) and that it was a gift designed to persuade her to stay for three more months. Could the significance of that timeframe be that he wanted SP to stay until is impending planned retirement in December, somehow making it harder for her to get part of his pension? Dunno, just something I read and don't recall seeing discussed here.

Something else has been bugging me: There has been speculation as to why DP answered CC's 11:30 pm(?) phone call on 10/28/07. ETA that the speculation has been regarding why would DP risk a cell phone ping/record that didn't match up with his story/alibi?

It's quite possible DP left strict instructions for the older children to call him if anyone called or showed up looking for SP, or that he called the children to check up on what was going on back at the house. All of this, of course, can be verified through the phone records that surely ISP has.

It was Sharon B. who mentiioned about Stacy's new bike and it buying three months, not the Pastor.

Yes, thanks TG. The first time I remember reading about it was around the time the pastor came forward.

I thought I read also that Drew did ask her to stay until he retired..but no matter who says that I suppose it would be considered hearsay at his point in time.

I also agree he would have had to answer the phone since the kids were home alone.
Another twist to this is that possibly DP had another phone that he had
purchased for calls from women or specific friends. If he had two cells with him, he may have been upset enough to answer which ever one rang..esspecially if he thought it could be the kids or someone he was waiting to hear from.

Could have been (hopefully) a mistake. I don't think he was expecting a call from Cassandra, but he also knew that he needed her to think he was at home, AND he had to know what SHE was doing....was she at his house, etc. I that at that time he was sure his story that Stacy ran off was going to prevent him from getting investigated so intensely. After all, he avoided investigation once.

It could have been he wanted the ping to be from near the canal. He lied to Cassandra, but did he lie to LE in his statement? So far, I think it is becoming increasingly clear that he has done things to throw off the investigation.

Oh, thanks. I couldn't imagine that Stacy would've left them alone like that.

I agree! If he'd ignored the call, then he'd have to explain it somehow to her and he also wouldn't know where she was, what she was doing, and so forth. I think he felt his story would be believed and never imagined that Kathleen's death would resurface in the media or be investigated.

I don't think DP ever, in his wildest dreams, thought Stacy's disappearance would get the national media attention it has. He thought her disappearance would remain a very local event. He'd have to explain to Stacy's family and friends that she had disappeared and would have to make it look like she had run off with another man. He never, ever, thought Stacy's disappearance would lead to LE re-examining Kathleen's death, or that he'd have Fox News as well as all other major news networks camped out in his front yard watching his every move.
