Interesting article in today's paper about yesterday's GJ. Sharon, Mary's husband and Bruce were there. Mary's husband testified first, but no mention of Mary. Sharon's testimony was lengthy and she has been asked to return at the end of January. Bruce never got to testify due to time constraints.

SNIP/
Thomas Pontarelli, who lived next to Peterson and third wife Kathleen Savio on Pheasant Chase Drive, was the first to testify. He was followed by Sharon Bychowski, who lives next to Peterson at his current home on Pheasant Chase Court, mere blocks from his former residence

If Bruce Z. was called I would think Cassandra would have been called also since he was with Cass the night Cass went looking for Stacy and reportedly both cars were not in driveway, and then they were later on.

Maybe Cass has already testified and we just haven't heard about it????

The weather here in Illinois is supposed to warm up considerably this weekend. The forecast says in the 40's and rain but that will melt the ice and snow. Hopefully more searches are planned!

They're saying that we may hit the mid-50s by Monday!!!!! :woohoo::woohoo:Hooray Global Warming! LOL :woohoo:

I was thinking the same thing TG..or if the police have a statement from Cass, which is MHO I think they might be waiting to keep her till the end to tie up any lose ends they may have. I also wonder why Mary's husband was called, but not Mary yet? Or maybe she has appeared and we didn't know.
Bruce didn't testify and they didn't tell him rather he will be testifying later or not...yet Sharon knows she is to come back on the 31st of January..they must have people scheduled to come then in the next few weeks.

Also I am thinking that Steve C has been there to testify twice that we are aware of..wonder if his story of that evening conflicts with Mary's and/or her husbands version?

Does anyone know if expert witnesses are ever called before the GJ..as in second
medical opinions, etc?

Who all has been called back twice for the GJ? Steve C., Sharon and wasn't Steve P and Ric Mims both told to return a second time? Anyone else?

Did anyone else notice this and does it mean anything?

Sharon is the one who is being interviewed:

She said witnesses also testified in the case of Plainfield woman Lisa Stebic, who disappeared April 30. Lisa Stebic was never married to Drew Peterson and may not have even known him.

It is an odd thing to say and I just wonder if perhaps there is a question of the Stebics and the Peterson's having met?

You know I have to hand it to that GJ. They are hearing 2 missing wives cases and one cold case. They have to be having a tough time of it as all three are now complicated major cases with a lot of witnesses and evidence. I just hope they are able to keep them all straight.

I too thought it was odd to mention Lisa Stebic and state that she wasn't ever married to him and may not have known him. If there's no connection I would have expected something more like....."The GJ is also hearing witnesses in the case of Lisa Stebic, the Plainfield woman who's also missing."

I'm not sure the media is covering every session of the Grand Jury proceedings. Every once in a while we hear of the proceedings, but I'm not sure we hear of everyone who's testifying. Mary could have testified earlier or is scheduled to testify at a later date.

With the GJ only meeting once a week, it's probably going to be well into February before they'll hand down an indictment. I think LE is hoping to find Stacy prior to an indictment. Didn't I read that in Illinois the prosecution only has 120 days between indictment and trial? If that's correct, they want to have as much evidence as possible by the time of indictment.

That was a very odd statement about Lisa Stebic. Maybe the reporter was trying to clarify things is all.

That will be interesting to learn. Also, was the Pontarelli's child who would have been 14 yrs. old in '04 with them when they went into the house?

Also, wouldn't you think Kathleen's male friend Steve Maniaci would know the details from talking to Mary?

That's what I thought SS when I read it, it should have been in seperate paragraph, but wasn't.

  • #371
When I first read that I thought is the reporter trying to connect the cases? Or are they doing this to come up with a sensational article that would raise the question that readers like us have? Do Gj's generally hear more then a case or two at a time in Illinois? If not then we would have to think that evidence is starting to show these cases related..but if they usually do, then this should have been in a separate paragraph by the writer of the article. And IMHO the writer should have clarified that the GJ is also in session for more Lisa's case, separate from Kathleen's and Stacy's.

Someone could ask the reporter.

The weather seems to be milder then normal for January in Illinois..hopefully boots will be hitting the ground again in the search...I think Stacy's family deserves to have her home with them, so they can make the arrangements they like about her body and last resting place.

My hopes, I admit, are fading a bit on finding Stacy. The actions of DP, the length of LE's investigation and GJ, and other things are adding up to a cold case. They obviously don't have new leads coming in on her whereabouts. If they don't have someone to pinpoint where he took Stacy or find who else could be involved in helping to dispose of her body then the chances are slim of finding her. Very sad to say, but without a break in the case...they will have to rely solely on information collected thus far. I just hope they have enough to arrest him eventually.

I agree about finding Stacy. With winter and cold weather here, chances of finding her soon are very slim. I also agree that finding who helped DrewP is key here. And I do believe that someone did help, someone other than TM. However, I do feel there is a chance that DrewP will be arrested. LE and prosecutor's wouldn't have taken the case to the GJ, unless they felt they had sufficient evidence of a homicide. That is what I am pinning my hopes on right now.

I'm pinning my hopes on the GJ, they can take months if not years to indict someone.

While we both pin our hopes on them, I also hope that Stacy's body will turn up with even more evidence. This is what I pray for. If they cannot have her back, at least let her be found with as much evidence as possible.

OK Now I am angry!!! Why does DP get to walk around like he is the King of freaking England?! Why can't someone take him down already?! I know I am not the only one frustrated by this!

WE know how he treated her and Kathleen without a doubt. We KNOW he threatened. We KNOW he abused. We KNOW what he is like on an everyday basis! It speaks for itself when you have so many stories. He is not a man anyone should hold in high esteem. Yet...how in the hell is he seemingly walking away from this?! Why don't they have enough yet?! Are they inept? Did they not scour the house enough to find the trace evidence it could take? We KNOW he loves his money and his things. He HAD to keep their jewelry! No way he would dispose of money. Not in his character. So why haven't they found it?! Did they just not look in the right places for it? For the FBI REMINDER: Mel Ignatow. Look again and again and again.

Supposedly another another sighting of Stacy, this time the balmy state of Kentucky. Note sent to DP rather than LE- again.
I hope that bastid realizes that picture is worth a million plus dollars!!! Let him sell it and we can all be clear on this. Everyone wins!!! Drew goes free, Stacy is found, and we can sleep!

Why do I not see this happening?! And why for Gosh Sakes do they keep doing this repeatedly?! Enough! Like we cared about the "sighting in Peoria", Drew?! Come on! Can you BE more obvious to your defense strategy?! WE don't buy it...so a jury isn't going to either! DUH!

OK, now this really pisses me off!!! Either give it to the cops to solve it now...or chalk it up to horrible luck, Drew!!! How MANY times can people see Stacy and send it only to you?!
