Just in from Gretawire:

(Snip)
We started at 6:00am following a lead from Rick Mims about a place drew may have taken stacy. A blue barrel was spotted from an airplane. We drove the hour to the location and rented a boat. There were 2 detectives already out on the water with a conservationist. We saw 2 blue barrels but the one in question was gone.

From the air they saw 1 barrel

From the boat they saw 2 barrels, but say the barrel in question was gone. Was it really gone, or just in a different position?
Water moves, currents, wind and even the dectives approaching it in the boat would cause it to move.

As far as where it is, someone told someone about a hunting/fishing club nearby that Drew had mentioned about going hunting. I linked it yesterday. When they spoke with the owner, IIRC the owner confirmed that Drew had made contact and expressed interest.

I wonder if it could be something along the line of these plastic barrels.....just wondering since the word barrel was mentioned on Greta's blog.

THIS is exactly what I was thinking about when I heard the word "barrel." There are people that use them to catch rainwater off of their gutters for use in the garden, etc. I've also seen them used as garbage cans and/or recycle bins. Oh and once I went to a keg party and someone sawed a large barrel like these in half and used it as the "tub" for the keg and ice. LOL

I wonder if Equusearch has sonar equipment. Sorry, if this has already been stated. :blushing:

Yes they have sonar. And they have a lot of other hi tech tools that may not be available as local resources.

I heard Tim Miller say "sonar" when listing everything they were utilyzing in this search. That was with Greta a few nights ago, I believe. I wondered if it was his own equipment or if they called a company in for that. He didn't expound.

ETA: I just saw all the other responses! :blushing:

I am just stunned after reading Kathleen's plea for help.

What's the name of the book? Sounds interesting.

I noted at the link you provided that this guy was a former policeman.
Yes he was!! The book is called "Murder So Cold - A Father's Deadly Rage". Lots of similarities - like him saying she went off with another man. Yeah - right. Can't wait until they catch this serial killer!

Gretawire. It's official they are going to exhume the body of Kathleen.

There's a discrepancy between two reports. One says a barrel is missing from the yard another says "rubbermaid container." Rubbermaid DOES make barrels, you know...

I've got several large Rubbermaid barrels - 55 gallon, for yard clean up.

too bad they didn't catch on to the 3rd wife's death before this - stacy would still be alive.

Hope I don't show too much ignorance (LOL) but, I don't understand what they're going to be able discover about Kathleen's body at this point, beyond what was noted/photographed at the autopsy. Wouldn't her body be far too deteriorated to examine the laceration on her head as well as the other injuries that were noted??

X-rays of the skull and other skeletal images could, and probably will determine the true cause of death if other than drowning.

Xrays were never taken and they want to check for broken bones. Kathleen would have been embalmed, and that will preserve a lot of the body info so they may be better able to check bruising, etc. I'm sure there is more, but those are the things I can think of off hand.

Plus, it helps to remove any reasonable doubt for the defense. Defense will say hey they ruled it an accident, then suddenly they changed. If accident was wrong, why couldn't the other info be wrong? (they will say that anyway, but this will help to negate the effect.)
