As we know - Dan has left his anchor chair on his show, "The Abrams Report". Star is an attorney and has had previous experience as a legal correspondent on CTV, NBC (Today Show) and Inside Edition. So .. I am hoping - no, praying - that Dan hasn't made an offer to Star Jones to host a 'legal type program' on MSNBC in place of his current 'Abrams Report' program. <groan> Oh man - I hope not!!!

This is the first thing I thought of when you mentioned MSNBC!.

We'll just have to keep our fingers and toes crossed!

If she does go to MSNBC, I can't see it lasting. I'm not even sure if MSNBC will last. I heard awhile back that Microsoft wanted out. Rita is there now of course and she can't even get a show every nite. I wonder what that is all about. They seem to be filling up a lot of space with MSNBC Investigates.
I'm sure Rita might have had an interest in Dan's show.

I don't even know about Dan now being the Manager. I mean I really liked him on his show but he seemed a bit immature. JMO.

If she has been offered three different jobs then why did she go on air Tuesday and make an announcement that her contract wasn't being renewed? If she had three offers; then all of this "girl" stuff could have been avoided and she could have announced her departure Thursday, like she was suppose to, and said she was leaving for another job. I really don't think she has been looking for a job since April and just was mad/hurt that ABC wasn't renewing her contract and wanted the "last jab".

I think she was pulling the old "he who laughs first, laughs last" trick.

They told her she had control over what she wanted to say on that Thursday.

She took what little bit of control she had left and chose to do it Tuesday instead.

So now instead of everyone saying "wow, Star Jones decided to leave the View...we kinda saw that coming...wonder what she will do now" everyone is going on about what a fool she looks like, how they dislike her, how everyone on the show has to be glad someone like that is gone now. :slap:

Did her decision to announce early backfire? Don't know...is any kind of publicity good publicity? :waitasec:

Hey DetectiveWannabe :)

Actually - Star was offered a job at ONE of the 3 major cable news networks - not at all 3. This was what I posted:

MSNBC - a reporter from "In Touch" magazine (can't remember his name) said that Star Jones has been offered a position on one of the 3 major cable news channels. (CNN, MSNBC, FOX)

He said that he didn't know whether or not Jones-Reynolds had accepted the offer or not. Also that he was 'not at liberty' to say which of the 3 networks made the offer.

Whatever this offer is - and whoever it's from .. my impression from the "In Touch" reporter's interview - was that the offer was just recently made within the last few days .. since her stint on The View ended on Tuesday.

Star has insisted that she was told her contract would not be renewed on April 21st and not before that date. As we now know - ABC execs made their decision in Nov. of 2005. Barbara intervened & rallied on Star's behalf but when her ratings didn't improve - ABC informed Star's agent & manager in January of 2006 of their decision.

SO. IMO - if Star is claiming that she didn't know or have an inkling about her non-renewal until April 21st - just 2 months ago .. then she has a really big problem regarding communication with "her very own agent & manager". Her people (her handlers) were told a good 5 months ago. (3 months earlier than when she claimed she found out.)

I, for one, do not believe that her agent would have withheld that vital information and not have informed Star.

She was a slick wordsmith on the LKL & Today show interview with pal, Al Roker. Typical attorney tactics - sidestepping, redirecting & carefully avoiding admitting to certain facts. All the while, she's smiling sweetly, speaking slowly & softly and ingratiatingly emphasizing her innate honesty & integrity. "I did it for my fans." Yes, siree - very slick, indeed!

End of rant ... lol

AMEN! It was nauseating, to say the least. You could almost touch the anger that was seething beneath the surface.

Great read 13th Jurior.....
imo, Actually I think star burried herself with the interviews....

Let this be a lesson for all of us. Don't burn your bridges.

AND especially DON"T BURN YOUR BRIDGES IN PUBLIC!!

Each time she does another interview, she digs herself alittle deeper.

There won't be a network that touches her!

I realize it won't matter to the PTB....but if she ends up on MSNBC, I will remove that station/lock it out..forever. They do have a couple of shows I enjoy and would miss, but I will be damned if I follow that egomaniacal wannabe diva anywhere. Don't like Rita, either.

Hi NanaMcZoo :)

"egomaniacal wannabe diva' - LOL I love it!!

Well, believe it or not - it really does matter to the 'powers that be'. (In this case - that person appears to be Dan Abrams, the new general manager at MSNBC.)

All of the networks want to have popular shows and of course, popular "hosts" that the public will want to tune-in & watch. Abrams is attempting to take MSNBC out of the #3 (bottom) slot in it's ratings war with FOX & CNN.

My point - I guess, is that emailing the decision makers with your feelings & comments about their programming and specific host anchors really does count. Believe it - the networks want (NEED) your viewership - and do take the viewers comments into consideration (especially when you take your time to write & tell them).

There is a 'contact us' page for MSNBC with all the necessary email addresses. Let your voice be heard. I did. :D

P.S. Hey Nana - You definitely have a whole lot of company where Rita's show is concerned too! Me included. She absolutely drives me up a tree ... cannot stand her voice or style of interviewing.

In regard to the criticism of Rosie O'Donnell, I share a similar view to Tybee. I think she felt trapped by her decision to keep quiet about her sexuality and became fairly depressed, which made her lash out either towards her guests or in the media. However, I do not doubt that her employer had a hand in this. If I remember correctly, Rosie's show ran on ABC which is owned by Disney. Disney would have had a FIT if their #1 rated, beloved talk show host came out of the closet. The network was probably concerned about losing a portion of their fan-base - the portion that would refuse to support Rosie's lifestyle (which is ridiculous, we know - but the unfortunate truth is that many people still feel this way). As for her gushing about Tom Cruise - I don't think that was an attempt to prove she was heterosexual. Back then I just think Tom had that charasmatic, magnetism that made women like him and men want to be him. Rosie was so over the top, everyone knew she was joking. However, I don't think Rosie would have that same response to Tom now that his true crazy has shown itself to the world.

Now, I tend to think that Rosie has probably mellowed out a bit. She took time out of the spotlight, began a family and probably allowed herself to come to terms with her fame, etc. I think time off was the best possible thing for her. Those of you who dislike Rosie - did you initially like her? I did. I thought she was clever and funny. I am hoping she found that woman inside her again and hopefully THAT Rosie is the one we will see on the View. I am willing to give her another chance.

Me too Masterj. Yesterday I did a bit of reading over at her website. I wanted to see her original comments on Star Jones. They are still up and not bad at all. I continued reading and went through some of her pictures. I believe she truly does have a kind heart.

I watch all of them, Rita, Greta, Nancy, Anderson! But, the other night I was flipping around and landed on Rita - my husband had never watched her with me. He said, "Wow, she has a serious cold or something!" I explained that is how she always is - he couldn't stand it!!

Rosie was with NBC. Maybe you were thinking of Ellen who was with ABC.
