I know very little about her... just that she went by the name Brandy and starred in a TV show called Moesha, or something like that.

Got it, thanks!!!!

She was in the production of 'Cinderella' with Whitney Houston as the Fairy Godmother and Whoopi Goldberg as the Queen. Kobe Bryant took her to his senior prom. Here's more at the link: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005275/bio

Somehow I just don't see Joy fitting in with Brandy, Elizabeth and Rosie!:snooty:

Due to all the controversy over Star, Barbara & "The View" in general - I tuned in for a little bit this morning while preparing a picnic lunch to take down to the beach.

Initially, I didn't know who the pretty african-american gal was sitting with Barbara, Joy & Elizabeth - but, she looked vaguely familiar. It turned out to be "Brandy" - a singer that is a judge on "America's Got Talent".

What I remember (as I was only halfway paying attention) .. Brandy has 10 tattoos and stated she was through - no more. Later in the show she was ready, right then and there, to have another one - a decorative "B" on her right forearm after seeing the guest tattoo artist's handiwork on some gal's lower backside. The tattooer was working on this "B" tattoo during the show.

Joy, attempting humor in her typical tactless fashion, asked Brandy how she got her name .. "Was your mother an alcoholic?" Brandy didn't take offense & replied that her Mom named her "Brandy" after a dog. (Hey, years ago I named my cat "Brandy" after hearing Barry Manilow sing his "Brandy" song.)

Someone - Joy, I think - asked Brandy if her very full ringlet hairdo was her own hair. (I think, at least it appeared that she had "pieces" added in to her own hair.) Brandy said well, it isn't a wig.

Toward the end of the program - Brandy said she felt very comfortable in that "View" seat and felt she had found a home or something to that effect. There certainly seemed to be good vibes, karma & communication between the 4 women.

Sorry folks - offhand, that's all I can remember.

Wow...I hadn't heard this! Don't know much about Brandy...really can't think of what kind of outlook she will bring to the panel. Really cannot picture it...guess sometime I will have to check it out!

I was watching Joe Scarborough tonite and he had a panel of 3 - reporter from In Touch and the Star Mag (can't remember the 3rd). They were all of the opinion that Star playing the victim was going to work in her favor - she is making a plea to the public for sympathy.

They said that when it comes right down to it the networks will hire her because she'll be able to get an audience or whatever. However, the In Touch guy did say that Star only does well in a group setting and therefore would flop going solo.

Joe had a poll - Do you think ABC gave Star a raw deal.

63% voted no!!! So I guess that defeats their little discussion.

I'll try and post the transcript when it's up tomorrow.

Having a bit of trouble falling asleep tonight so I tuned in to the last half of MSNBC's 1 am airing of "Rita Cosby - Live & Direct".

At the conclusion of the program - Rita announced that tomorrow night's program will be the final show for "Live & Direct". She said she was going on to other exciting things - including doing some "MSNBC Investigates" programs - as well as some "Rita Cosby Specials".

She encouraged the viewers to watch tonight's show (Thursday, July 6th) where she will feature some of the best moments of her past shows.

Seems like Dan Abrams is beginning to make some significant programming changes at MSNBC.

Personally - I don't think Rita's ratings numbers were high enough to compete with 'CNN's Anderson Cooper' & 'FOX's Greta - On The Record' in the primetime 10 PM slot. Initially, Rita was on at 9 PM competing with LKL and Hannity & Colmes. Live & Direct was moved to the 10 PM slot in the hopes that her numbers would improve. Apparently, they didn't.

I just hope Star Jones is not anywhere on Dan's programming horizon. Time will tell, I suppose ...

Speaking of Dan - before I forget .. starting next Monday, "The Abrams Report" will no longer be seen at 4 & 6 PM. I imagine it must be going off the air since Dan is no longer hosting his program.

"The Situation with Tucker Carlson" will be taking over the 4 & 6 PM EDT time slots on MSNBC starting Monday, July 10th.

These double slots are annoying to me - Even Chris Matthews is on twice.

I was actually starting to like her too. I don't even bother with Greta anymore unless it's a topic I'm really interested in.

Here's the transcript for Joe Scarborough last nite - Jones has given out email addresses for Barbara Walters and ABC execs because her fans are "begging" to complain!

Maybe I misunderstand Star when she was on Larry King, that this was going to be the last time she was going to say anything about The View...and put everything behind her.
Did I hear wrong?

  • #237
Nope, you didn't misunderstand... that's what she said. But I guess her kazillion (ha!) fans have begged her to do differently. No doubt she "prayed" over the right decision to make on behalf of her "fans". Yuk. Double Yuk!

No doubt she discussed it with Big AL.

What's Next for Star Jones Reynolds?

After an explosive week in which she announced to PEOPLE that she'd been fired from The View, and then publicly traded barbs with former cohost Barbara Walters, Star Jones Reynolds is ready to move on.

Starting July 10, she'll serve a weeklong stint hosting HGTV's House Hunters, helping home buyers navigate the New York City real estate market, PEOPLE reports in its new issue. But after that her calendar is clear.

Still, she's optimistic. As she told PEOPLE of her job loss, "Yeah, this is an obstacle, but inside every obstacle is an opportunity."

She's already found plenty of TV viewers. Her June 29 appearance on CNN's Larry King Live was watched by nearly 3 million people, triple the show's usual ratings. And the next day, Today's Al Roker filled a full 20 minutes talking to Reynolds about her departure from The View.

Will she be able to keep her seemingly loyal fan base?

"How this pans out for her career all depends on what she does in the next 18 months," says media analyst Bob Thompson. "Even if she tries a bunch of things and none of them work, I don't think she's going to end up on The Surreal Life 9."

"Whose side are you on?" - Vote here!

One thing is for certain: She's already surrounded by supporters. After her rough week, she and husband Al Reynolds spent the Fourth of July weekend at their home in the Hamptons, where on Saturday night they went dancing at Southampton's Pink Elephant club.

"She and Al were holding hands the whole time and having so much fun," says a source. "She got a very warm welcome. A lot of guests were congratulating her on how she handled everything leaving The View."

As close friend LaTanya Richardson Jackson (wife of actor Samuel L. Jackson) tells PEOPLE of Reynolds, "She's incredibly hurt, but she's also incredibly resilient. She's moving on."

Star: "Barbara Walters is a hypocrite"

Quotes from Jones-Reynolds:

Reynolds tells New York's Daily News: "For Barbara to say she felt betrayed is the height of hypocrisy."

"I thought the audience deserved to have "their Star" tell them what the deal is.

Couldn't Ms. Star have still addressed the View audience and "her fans" on Thursday as previously scheduled and agreed upon by both Star & her people and the ABC execs??

Yes, of course, she could have. Her real motive was "control" - making that announcement on air before her "big interview article & 'poor me story' in PEOPLE magazine" leaked out to Barbara, the ABC execs & the media.

IMO - it was Star manipulating the control of the information solely to her advantage. Somehow, I think she really thought she could get away with her stunt (just another freebie on her side of the ledger) without any repercussions. She was wrong.
