I was just listening to JM's opening statement on HLN. It just occurred to me, isn't it odd that Travis had a keyed lock on his bedroom door? I have never seen this on a bedroom door (not that I have visited a large sample of bedrooms!).

Maybe it's because he had roommates, just for security of his personal belongings...

Maybe the door had a keyed lock already when he moved in? Maybe he didn't lock it much. I don't think he put in a lock because he had roommates, because the roommate had a key. The roommate opened the door for Mimi.

Being incarcerated for the rest of one's life is suffering for the vast majority of humans. I don't know anyone who thinks prison is nice and comfy. I don't know anyone who wouldn't prefer to be out of prison if they could. That is considered one of the most severe penalties any human can face, outside of being executed. For some it's worse and they'd rather be killed than be 'warehoused' for decades.

Agreed, for the most part. I think someone like JA, with her psychopathy, will thrive in general population prison because

a) for the first time in her life she will belong somewhere
b) she will have regular sustenance and medical care
c) she will be able to trace more pictures, claim them as her own and sell them to people with more money than brains
d) she will be able to conduct TV interviews
e) she will insert herself into the genpop and exploit the other inmates at will
f) she will be contained, which in our worlds is like being hugged - I hope you understand the metaphor. LOL

I think JA will be just fine, better than she's ever been, in the genpop. She will thrive.

That's why she deserves the needle.

I believe that JA will get the death penalty based in part on her own answer to a juror question, namely: "If you hadn't gotten caught, would you have ever admitted you killed him?" Her answer: "I don't know."

That powerful statement is a window into her conscience and shows her complete lack of remorse as well as her callousness towards TA's family. I hope JM reminds the jury of this answer right before they leave to deliberate.
