Darn. That would be interesting. Why would an undercover officer be needed?

They were talking about the picture taken and if the bed appeared to have been slept in - wait for it - who better to understand bedclothes than an undercover officer! :innocent::crazy::waitasec::floorlaugh:

Ahem - sorry, I could not resist.

"Brad Cooper told police he and his wife had not talked about divorce in 2 months prior to her being missing."

Didn't the officer (Hayes) state the bed 'did not look slept in'?
The defense ended questioning with getting an agreement from the witness the bed was "disheveled", but I'm thinking the jury got the same impression that most of us here did. That the officers opinion was that the bed did NOT look slept in.

This is very slow going. Does anyone know how long this trial was projected to last? TIA

I heard that the jurors needed to commit to 6-8 weeks.

Repost: not sure what happened to the first one

No, you do not have to be alive, but the dog must be trained for Human Remains. It is usually part of Search and Rescue..

I missed this witness. Did they happen to mention if the dog used was trained in Human Remains? If not, does anyone know if they went back to the house/cars with a dog trained for Human Remains after her body was identified? My understanding is the scent would last longer and cleaning doesn't generally remove it.

gym card WAS swiped at Lifetime Fitness at 2:45 on 7/12/08 according to what Brad told police.

card was NOT swiped at gym-when Brad went looking for her there, the employee put her name in computer

OK, this looked confusing at first, but I take this as BC told CPD that her card WAS swiped @ 2:45, but this was not the case, the employee looked up her name in the computer at that time. Bad news for the defense! This is looking pretty bad if BC is proven to be lying about info he gave CPD. Appears he was trying to create a false trail.

From Tweet

Undercover officer asked BC to drive around with the officer to look for NC, BC declined the offer.

BC Asked if any K9 units in the area were looking.

So did he think it had been swiped? Seems of very stupid thing to lie about... easy to disprove.

Maybe he was busted TRYING to swipe the card?

I don't get much from that... he could just say he wanted to stay around the house and phone for instance.

I imagine he thought/or was scared dogs would be able to find the body more quickly.

Snowshuze - I think the defense tried to GET the officer to say it was disheveled - but the officer specifically said something to the effect of "the covers are turned back," and "the sheets are smooth." Then the defense tried to get him to say he saw an "impression" where someone was lying and he said the only "impression" he say was what appeared to him to be where someone sat on the edge of the bed. I don't think he ever got the officer to say the bed was in disarray or disheveled or messy - although they gave it a good college try, they didn't get it from him.

I might have missed that he agreed with the defense attorney that it was disheveled, but I was thinking at the time that the defense did not score in that regard. No biggie - I just wanted to say that I thought I remembered that he never agreed that it was disheveled.

Good Theory. I work out at lifetime. A picture comes up on their screen. They always look up.

I didn't get the point of the K9 unit. I understand that the dog didn't track on anything. But how long does a scent remain? I mean we know that Nancy walked from across the street to the house some time after midnight. So if the scent remains long enough, it should have picked up that, right?

Has it been testified to that Nancy wasnt in the habit of making the beds? One other thing that bothered me was why would she ask a friend to help her organize her house? she was supposedly trying to leave and they were in hate mode. jmo

That was the story that we heard initially. He made a story about NC being on a phone call and needed to swipe her card in so she could just run to class.

I feel pretty sure we will see testimony about this either way, but if that is true, attempting to swipe her card when he is supposed to be out riding around looking for her.... that will be a pretty severe blow to the defense....

Of course, they could always try to say he did not have his card and hers was in the car, so he just picked it up to try to get in there and look... That sounds good on the surface, but it would backfire. How did he think SHE would have been able to get into LTF if he had her card in the car?
