I missed this witness. Did they happen to mention if the dog used was trained in Human Remains? If not, does anyone know if they went back to the house/cars with a dog trained for Human Remains after her body was identified? My understanding is the scent would last longer and cleaning doesn't generally remove it.

I do not think his dog was a trained cadaver dog. He said his dog was used for tracking persons missing. He did not testify at all as to whether an additional dog was brought in later.

Snowshuze - I think the defense tried to GET the officer to say it was disheveled - but the officer specifically said something to the effect of "the covers are turned back," and "the sheets are smooth." Then the defense tried to get him to say he saw an "impression" where someone was lying and he said the only "impression" he say was what appeared to him to be where someone sat on the edge of the bed. I don't think he ever got the officer to say the bed was in disarray or disheveled or messy - although they gave it a good college try, they didn't get it from him.

I might have missed that he agreed with the defense attorney that it was disheveled, but I was thinking at the time that the defense did not score in that regard. No biggie - I just wanted to say that I thought I remembered that he never agreed that it was disheveled.
IIRC, it was the very last question by the defense, and as soon as the witness said yes, Kurtz said, no more questions.. I could be wrong.

ETA: I just remember thinking at the time the defense may have thought they scored a point with getting the yes answer to the "disheveled" question.

One other thing that bothered me was why would she ask a friend to help her organize her house?

She had everything in boxes because she expected to be moving back to Canada. Then BC canceled her plans and everything was a mess with stuff all over, the girls' stuff packed away. Her friend (JA) was going to help her organize the girl's room and some other spaces since Nancy was no longer moving (per Brad's order).

That was the story that we heard initially. He made a story about NC being on a phone call and needed to swipe her card in so she could just run to class.

I feel pretty sure we will see testimony about this either way, but if that is true, attempting to swipe her card when he is supposed to be out riding around looking for her.... that will be a pretty severe blow to the defense....

Of course, they could always try to say he did not have his card and hers was in the car, so he just picked it up to try to get in there and look... That sounds good on the surface, but it would backfire. How did he think SHE would have been able to get into LTF if he had her card in the car?

BBM:

Exactly! Great point.

Unlike Jason Young, Brad didn't have alot of time to prepare all of his alibis and excuses in my opinion because he likely decided to kill Nancy during the "heat" of the moment. The facts and untruths we have heard today, are just a few from a very long list of slipups, lies and such.

That's the rumor that was posted on Websleuths by the same person who insisted there was a 4:20am HT visit.

We don't have any confirmation of what Brad did in regards to the card at LTF.

Undercover officer: We asked to take pictures inside the Cooper house & Brad wanted to know why. He finally agreed.

Surely, they must of brought in cadavar dog to hit on cars and house? I would hope so. jmo

Undercover officer: "It struck me as bizarre" when Brad said he thought I'd have a more high-powered camera.

My understanding is that the dog was supposed to track Nancy from leaving the house in the morning, and the last clothes that Nancy wore would have been the best scent. Instead, Brad provided a shoe, and the dog was unable to track the scent anywhere. It could be that the shoe had been sitting in the house for months un-used/worn.

It looks to me to be more of an unplanned murder too.

I imagine if so, there will be additional testimony from a different officer/dog handler. This particular dog handler/officer was not a cadaver dog and so did not testify to any other dog activities.

This is true. The officer even stated he knew it would be difficult to get a track with the time lapsed and so many people having been in and around the yard. He said best case scenario would be the clothes the person last wore - and if that wasn't available, then something that had been worn repeatedly like a shoe. Brad presented a shoe to the detective.

My answer here was merely to someone here who inquired about human remains and I was only answering that this officer couldn't testify to any use of a cadaver dog because that is not what his dog and his purpose was at the time he was called to respond.

I am really waiting to hear what they found with cadaver dog.

I'm guessing the court took a morning break. It's been 13 minutes since the last "tweet".

I imagine there will be LTF witness testimony.
