I would guess it has to do with her statement she gave in the phone interview. Example: If she said something like, "Yes, she's about my height. I know because we were eye level. I'm 5'2"." That might give them reason to feel that the person she saw was not Nancy. I'm in a location where people walk, run, ride past my house all the time. There are a few regulars that I recognize and if something happened I would be able to say for sure if I had seen them walk past my house if I was out. Others that I'm not familiar with, I would not be able to identify even with a picture. I'm very curious as to what specifically allowed her to be so certain that a stranger that passed by her was the woman she saw on a flyer.

She was close enough to touch her and they said hi to each other, that's how. I believe that if this woman wasn't very certain, she would have let it go. She would not have continued to try to reach the police. We all know how we can think that maybe our mind is playing tricks on us and we can dismiss things. But she didn't just let it go. That coupled with the empty stomach and caffeine in her blood indicates she drank coffee that morning before she left the house and witnesses did see her. That's what I believe.

:waitasec: Maybe this is just a silly notion :waitasec: I would think that if I had a credible sighting or observation to offer in a missing person case or violent whatevers..I would think or believe that what your saw, descriptions and details would be most important..NO?? I would think it important you be succinct & direct with your details..thus raise importance level IF it FITS!! Good lesson for those who wish to report on such things!!
I am sure 1000's of call came in and LE and others would have to weed out crank calls or calls that did NOT fit description..IF anyone expects a task force to interview each and every caller face to face..seems just rediculous..But Defense has no other complaint.....:banghead:

Suffice to say..Nancy appears to have gone missing and found in 2 days and followups ensued for those peeps who may have or could have seem her..

Is Defense really saying that this witness could have saved Nancy?? Was she that important in heinsight to locating Nancy in the grand scheme of things??
Im sorry..jumping up and down because a caller didnt get a face to face interview just isnt IMPORTANT...Nancy was long DOA at the time this women THOUGHT she saw someone resembling Nancy..Plain and simple:twocents:

I think my point is "Much ado about Nuttin" where this person claims to have seen Nancy...:banghead:

And, I'm sure dear Bradley wishes like heck that you were on the jury! lol

I agree with your thoughts.
I know the CPD may have botched some aspects of this case but I still believe had they thought this eyewitness had valuable info they would have followed up quicky and
with more depth. And it may turn out that this witness and her testimony, if she is called to testify, may be one of the areas that were botched. We'll just have to wait to see how it plays out.

According to the ME the caffeine in her system is consistent with having something with caffeine in the 24 hour period before she died. Because of the way caffeine is metabolised, it stays in the system longer. I know the "indicates she drank coffee that morning" is repeated often but that is not what the ME testified to.

ETA: Maybe she's just the type of person that wants to be "the hero". Maybe she convinced herself that this was NC even though there is no way she could be sure that this stranger who ran past (emphasis on "ran") and said "Hi" to her was NC.

Wasn't it Rosemary Zednick (the woman who claims to have seen Nancy jogging)that testified during the custody hearing and the judge did not find her testimony credible?

It's been a long time and I can't remember for sure if it was her...

I wonder how credible Rosemary Zednick is?

At the time, she was a secretary for Alltel Wireless (now Verizon).

One would think Colin Willoughby weighed her credibility, as this would certainly be problematic to the case. Enough to delay an arrest until the evidence far outweighs her statement. With that, I am confident they have compelling evidence to come.

I'm actually looking forward to seeing this person on the stand. I'm assuming the defense will call her. I would like to hear how she was able to identify the person as NC.

From the affidavit, she knew it was Nancy because she had a long face. Nancy, apparently, is the only woman in Cary who ever jogged who had a long face.

This is a question more for the locals: Did the CPD (or anyone else) ever make a plea for ALL female joggers who were out running on Saturday 7/12 (from 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.) to contact them (and maybe have a lineup for witnesses who "may" have seen NC but didn't know her)?

I would think that could have been helpful if they were concerned witnesses who didn't know NC were not accurate in their sightings? I've never heard of discounting witnesses who said they saw someone, only because the witness didn't have a personal relationship/knowledge beforehand of the person? If so, why even make fliers and go on the news with pictures then?

Dont really need to know just who is complaining about not getting a face to face when she spent time and calling tip line or police with her perseptions..But this truly reminds me of the defense in Casey Anthony's case..sorry Cindy's lcaims of credible sighting on airplanes or shopping malls (ignored by Police )..and so on..As it turned out..guess what Victim ( Caylee) was about 3 blocks from her house....Heinsight..wonder how accurate those sightings were she claims came in weeks/months later?? Nope..:banghead:

The more miles I run, the longer my face gets. :great:

Not specifically female joggers.
Anyone that was in the area that AM

She said she saw her face. She said this because the face at least somewhat resembled what was on the fliers.

What is the harm in a detective going over to her house in those early days and just asking questions? They questioned a boatload of other people during those days with no issue.

This has nothing to do with Brad Cooper. This is about LE doing their job during a missing person investigation. She came forth while Nancy was still missing.

If she said something in the telephone interview that was totally inconsistent with NC, do you still believe they should have taken the time to go to her house?

The only person I heard say "she had a cup of coffee that morning" was the defense.

If she had an empty stomach, why was a piece of onion found if she stopped eating some 8+ hours earlier?

No I don't but nothing has been indicated that is the case (one way or the other). She obviously must have matched the facial description pretty good because she told them it matched the lady that was on the flier. She stated in a sworn affidavit months later that she still thinks it's Nancy, even after seeing loads of pictures of her on the news.

Yes, but the caffeine plus empty stomach + witnesses who saw her. All the little things add up, you know....like all the little things ya'll keep saying add up against BC.

I can't simply write her off like the rest of you. I want to hear more about it, want to hear from her, not what the CPD may have been thinking.

1000s of people, some credible, some not, for whatever reason. CPD heard what she had to say, and that was all that was needed.

I think if CPD were out paying personal visits to thousands of people, there'd be no one to catch the perps!

The cops took her tip over the phone, as i'm sure they did many others.
Going out to personally interview her would not help them gain any more information than they already had from her.

I totally get the people who believe innocent until proven guilty. I get that. But you totally, 100%, completely, without a doubt, staunchly believe in the innocence of Brad Cooper.

Why?
