Interesting background - very specific in entomology - focused on flies, and then moving into forensic entomology.

Dr Wes Watson, entomologist.

I wonder, are they going to be able to establish a more accurate TOD using the bugs?...I love this stuff :great:

BTW..Good Morning to everyone:seeya:

I dread hearing this testimony. This is going to be horrible for Mr. & Mrs. Rentz.

Yes, and I don't think they have any evidence on this either so it is probably being presented for no reason.

I hope the entomologist either adds something useful (which based on previous forensic testimony seems unlikely) or is only up there for a short time.

I just feel like there is so much technical jargon that is going to be important for the jury to digest with the computers and phones that adding more and more for things that lead nowhere is wasting their brain power.

Back to the geologist: the geologist did not say the mica was inconsistent with the body location.

So now comes the maggots.

Family leaving courtroom. They don't need to hear this painful testimony.

  • #169
Family is leaving the courtroom. I don't blame them.

Wow, I feel so bad for her. I don't blame her for leaving the courtroom.

Don't we already "know" this isn't going to be particularly helpful to the prosecution because most of the insects that were collected died?

  • #173
Bless them. :(

Post mortems, even on insects.

Most likely will coincide with TOD. Plenty of reasons to know this.

i can only relate personal experience in moving a dead dog. Extremely large, 120 lb plus dog, was alive at lunch time, around 1:00 p.m. Was found deceased at 5:00 pm., inside the house. By the time we moved his body, it was around 8:00 pm. Did not notice any noticable rigor having set in yet. It was also summer time, dog was inside air-conditioned home the entire time. I sat in the back of and suv, seats down, flat back of the vehicle, holding his head and upper torso in my arms while we were driven to the vets office. So i think i would have noticed, had it been difficult to manipulate his head, neck, upper torso, into my arms to cradle him as we drove. He was definitely deceased by no later than 5:00 pm. Though. I was cradling him for *my* comfort, not his. :(

(((hugs)))

I got more than I ever wanted to know during the Danielle VanDam murder trial in 2002/2003. Entymology experts (multiple, dueling experts) took the stand and were on for days.

Amster, I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my precious golden girl last July (and am still grieving that loss).

This "Blow Fly" stuff is really well documented...They have a known life cycle..and this stuff has been accepted as scientifically accurate in all cases I have seen.....Again..I love this stuff:crazy:
