In the past several years, however, North Carolina juries have become even more generous, in 1997 alone handing down $1.2 million against a female paramour in Forsyth County and awarding another jilted wife $1 million in Alamance County and a deceived husband $243,000 in Wake County. In late 1999, a judge in Durham County valued compensatory damages in a case brought by a husband against his wife's lover at less than $3,000 in compensatory damages but the judge still awarded $40,000 in punitive damages on the criminal conversation claim. Since our Supreme Court refused to abolish these causes of action in 1984 and since our legislature has also shown no strong interest in doing so since that time, sizeable damage awards remain a real possibility in North Carolina. At the present time, more than 200 alienation actions are filed in an average year.

I have no idea how old you are or if you are married. But if you are and let's say you are in your early 30s.....if you decided you were no longer going to have sex with your husband, you would expect him to accept it and live the rest of his life celibate?

It is a ridiculous hypothetical. In that same vein, I'd introduce him to his right hand.:great:

I do not mind telling you that I am 60 years old, retired, and a widow. My late husband was the love of my life and I simply cannot imagine anyone else.

Now that was too much information about me, but I hope it answered your question. I am too old fashioned I suppose, but no man OR woman has to have sex outside the marriage. The thing called divorce works fairly well, I am told.

As for the portion of your post I have bolded; BC did not have to accept anything, and no one mentioned he should live celibate! He could have left the marriage, but chose to murder his wife instead, IMO.

Once divorced or living apart, go after anything he or she wants to. Now that is just my take on this situation.

MOO

Yet that is supposedly what NC did to BC.

Wasn't it in April that Brad finally admitted he was having an affair with HM? Until that time he'd denied it...perhaps that's why she went then.

I believe it was New Years Eve, IIRC. :(

Are they still in session? Maybe he assumed she ran off with someone. That's an odd email.

And in my day, Palomine, it was, er ... French Letters.

These days, it's French E - males! Horror of horrors. Where's my fave all-time singer:

Times they are a'changin

You are ba-a-a-a-ad, Annie -- I know what French Letters are (were?)!!! But only because I have read about 'em. I'm still old, however.

Yes, they are (the times, that is) but not fast enuff.

They were both behaving poorly. Perhaps both had affairs - either sexual or emotional. Nancy had determined she was leaving - the marriage was "over" - she was starting to move on. I have thought from the start that she had something to look forward TO - and that she wasn't one to venture out on her own - I see her as needing to be attached. So - perhaps Brett Wilson was going to be "the one"

And whether anyone REALLY cut anyone else off from sex - who knows - we've already established that BC didn't really need an excuse to sleep around, and that NC was very prone to exaggeration

so - I'll say this again - WHO CARES? Lots of folks have affairs. Lots of marriages end in divorce. Lots of divorces are contentious.

But we have one of the couple here DEAD.

But - not a lot of husbands are spying on their spouses to this extent, or lying to the police that they were trying to reconcile (again - that was a huge red flag for me).

How does this relationship differ from so many others - what doesn't make sense - and that becomes the boatload of circumstantial evidence that I believe will ultimately convict Brad.
