Next up Donna Lopez.

Ms. Lopez up next...was at the party on July 11. Limited statements made the night of the party as to what Nancy said supposedly.

Well that didn't go well for the defense.

Actually it went very well for the defense. He was able to demonstrate with the email that Mr and Mrs. Duncan were using coercive techniques to make sure people did not speak in favor of Brad and that they are basically hostile witnesses.

They were also able to demonstrate that Mr. Duncan did not tell the whole truth to the CPD. He intentionally withheld information regarding other parties that were interested in NC. Mr. Kurtz also made it clear that the affair that Mr. Duncan alluded to was prior to NC and BC's marriage. Therefore it was not an extra marital affair. The defense made it clear that Mr. Duncan was not interesed in fact based evidence and gave testimony based on emotion only.

Running objection by defense concerning statements made by Nancy to witnesses. On the record and over ruled by judge.

That's not what the testimony was though. The nature of the email had to do with not continuing a relationship with Cooper and also expecting to have an ongoing/future relationship with the Duncans. (it had nothing to do with positive statements they might or might not make).

I think most of the jury probably took away the same thing most of us did...that Mr Duncan was a believable witness that knew a lot about both Coopers from personal experience.
IMO, Kurtz did not get anywhere near what he wanted.

I don't get this. How can they know whether the jury is considering the testimony for truth or for Nancy's state of mind (or whatever they are allowing this testimony under). Once it is said the jury hears it and at that point nobody can know what is going on in the jurists' minds.

Nancy mentioned to D Lopez she was getting a divorce.

This is what I've been talking about. She just met Nancy that night and was already getting her life story. Unbelievable ridiculous.

Hmmm...perhaps...IMHO Mr. Duncan came off as pompous, arrogant and highly disrespectful of the court itself. I did not find him believable...but I am just one person.

It could be just FATE, ya know?

It could totally have gone the other way and Nancy just kept all her husband issues to herself and no one would know Brad was such a monster and her killer would never have been caught/punished.

Well that didn't go well for the defense.

An attorney should NEVER ASK a question that he does not already know the answer to.

Now, he will have to HOPE the trial drags out to give the jurors time to forget this.

Sorry, I don't see your point?
Goes to show she basically hated Brad Cooper.

Bolding is mine...I felt this way, too.

NC told Donna Lopez that BC offered to pay her to be the nanny if she didn't want to stay in the marriage. DL was talking to NC for over an hour and heard all the details of why NC wanted a divorce.

I don't see the point either.

These witnesses are under oath. Is the contention that these witnesses are LYING? I find them believable, in that they are relating their understanding of what they knew, when they knew it, and when they don't know they say so.

Now, you may not believe Nancy, but her story to each person appears to be consistent. They are also giving us a view of the victim's state of mind, what she was wearing, what time she left the party, etc, etc.

My point isn't with regards to this trial. I'm just dumbfounded how everyone knew everything. The more I listen to this trial, the more I dislike both parties. I'm not intending to be disrespectful of the deceased, and no matter what, she didn't deserve to die. But I just have no respect for these type of people (both of them).

From what I can tell, NC was a very open person. In some statements she seems that she would maybe be a good conversationalist, because she ASKED a lot about others. If she was very open with people, it is not a long putt to understand that when people are under stress, they might be more talkative. I have seen this myself, and can see that it is possible here, even with someone she just met.
