It seems like a bit of a stretch that a loose screw on a license plate means the plate was removed.

Loose is one thing, crooked is another.

Defense: Weren't you in contact with Jessica Adam & Hannah Prichard everyday early on? Undercover officer: Yes. #coopertrial

Alamb must not be in court today. No real tweets from her.

I remember reading that discussion way back when. (I have been mostly a lurker...). Was it that the plate was not properly screwed in? Was one side of the plate loose? I can't remember.

Correct - it was crooked and not bolted in properly. The plate was on the trunk lid not the body of the car,IIRC.

Hotpinkstef,

I see we are both posting tweets. I will stop, I have to log into a system to work.

I agree. Of course, I laughed when I read that the loose screw and that there was a screw gun in the garage. Heck, you don't need a screw gun to remove it, a quarter works quite well (that's how I've changed out my plates and also removed my now illegal in North Carolina license plate brackets).

Defense says witnesses made sure their stories matched up. Undercover officer says that's not the way he intended it. #coopertrial

If you look at page two of the Photos thread you will see a picture of the cars in the driveway and the plate looks like it is on there just fine.

Isn't it possible that Brad likes to clean?

Oh my. Wouldn't one take a look at the room in which he was sleeping to ascertain if that was a hobby of his? And the photos make the house look like a cluttered disaster.

These are the photos that were shown in court to verify that things were different than the day before:

That is such a narrow staircase.

I just removed mine too. Not happy about it. I've had that bracket on my vehicles for 15 years.

Ok I am getting confused trying to follow this. Did Officer Dismukes see the house one way and then notice it was different the next or did JA say "There used to be sticks and ducks there and now they are gone" and the officer went in and saw that yes they were gone?

well, mine is attached with a hex bolt, not a slot screw.
(makes it hard to steal)
it would take a wrench to loosen , so if it was loose or hanging, it would be likely someone tampered with it or did not use the tool to reinstall it.

There's about a 50% chance it was removed or 50% chance it wasn't removed. But I can see that an officer might observe this and based upon his experience and training and other observations, he could come to a reasonable conclusion that someone would remove their license plate to be able to not be identified if in the commission of a crime.
