What's frustrating me from the prosecution is that their case seems so scattered. They present stuff to build a foundation on it, but then move to something else without getting to the real evidence of what they built the foundation for. Like the timing of calling Mrs. Rentz. Why would they call her right after calling the people who found the body, etc., but before the medical examiner? It just seems like you want to show everything associated with the body sequentially (ie, from discovery to examination) instead of throwing in Mrs. Rentz testimony. Same thing with the at&t guy today. Now who knows how long it will be before we hear the rest of the cell story. It's just frustrating.

My prediction - that's all you're going to hear about the phones. I could be wrong. Everyone kept waiting for all the forensic evidence but there never was any. I find it so odd that they put all those objects into evidence, even though they weren't evidence of anything. Such an odd case.

"The judge in the Brad Cooper murder trial said Friday afternoon that he doesn't plan to act on a concern about possible juror misconduct after an investigation into the matter...

The details of the messages were unclear, but it is against court rules for jurors to discuss the case with anyone outside of deliberations.

Gessner asked the Wake County Sheriff's Office to look into the matter earlier Friday, saying that ignoring the concern would be an error on his part.

"They have looked into the matter, and based upon their response that they have provided to me, there is no need for any further inquiry at this time," he said Friday afternoon. "I am satisfied that we're in a position to proceed based on their report."

Just tacking on here because I had a thought about this 'Krista mom' thing. These girls were very young when their mom was killed. Two thoughts I have, first, when one is adopted, regardless of age, *usually* one eventually comes around to calling their adopted mother, mom. Second thought, I remember when I was little, back in the stoneage, on occasion calling one of my teachers 'mom', without thinking. As I said, these children were so young, I'm thinking something like 'Krista-mom', might not be as strange as it's often made out to be by some. It's not like Nancy is ever coming back to reclaim her role. And I'd bet money her family hasn't hidden all trace of her from her children. I'd guess her pictures are still around them, stories about their mom, Nancy, being told to the children, etc. When little children are hurt, or frightened, or have a NEED, who do they usually call out for? "mummy"/'mommy'. These girls were so little, so traumatized, having someone, some person to refer to as 'mommy', is that so bad? JMT

I think it's wonderful they have someone to comfort and love them and why should they be robbed of the chance to call someone mommy?! Who would deny them that?? And, would they also feel that way about adoptive parents??

I don't have any notes in front of me but I think that the 6:34 call is the one Brad said he made from the home phone in order to locate his cell phone in the house.

I remember in Kurtz' opening he claimed that at 6:15am, before the first trip to HT, Brad called his cell phone to try and locate it. That statement is in conflict with the actual evidence.

One of the calls made by Brad in the early morning of 7/12 (around 6:30am) pinged off the tower closest to the location of Nancy's body...within a mile it looks like. Kurtz was trying to get the AT&T guy to say that the actual tower was located somewhere else, but the AT&T guy could not testify to that.

This is BIG, imho. It physically puts Brad very much south of his home, south of HT...south of anywhere he claimed to be that early morning. It put him closer to the body location than either his own house or HT!

We do not have the facts to determine any such thing...lots of assumptions are being made, but the judge has not said exactly what happened.

I'd rather have someone protect the case than for any misconduct to occur that could cause a mistrial! If something did occur, reporting it to an officer of the court was the exact right thing to do!

I can't seem to follow this trial daily, all day. Much too frustrating. It has been a little over two weeks, still not seeing the prosecution's case. I really don't think it is good strategy that, if you have some "he did it" evidence, that you wait until the jurors are thoroughly perplexed and bored to bring it in. It should have been done at the beginning.
Maybe the only reason they arrested BC so quickly is because so many people were screaming about the Jason Young delay. In my mind, they have much more on JY than BC.
I know the trial isn't over yet, but I am beginning to think they should have waited and let BC make some mistakes, if he is guilty. See, when this first happened, I was thinking definitely guilty. Now, I have no clue.

A reasonable explanation would be that he was driving and wasn't holding his cell phone. I don't hold mine while driving. The 8 second delay (versus the 1 second from earlier) actually makes this more logical. If he was anticipating the call (because of spoofing), he would be holding it and answer immediately like he did with the other calls.

Unless he didn't know which phone was which.

Yes.

And the reason he gave the last name Wilson is because he didn't want anyone tracking her down and asking her what Brad was like. They lived together and after a brief while broke up and Brad moved out. Jen discovered that Brad broke into her apartment and snooped around after they were finished. She promptly moved. She has lots more to tell and was interviewed by the Police related to this trial. I doubt she's being called to testify.

Bingo. That's what I remember, too. She said there was no way he would have forgotten her name. She thought he did it to insult her -- but I think you are right on target, Cal-123.

It was only her passport unless I missed others. It was issued in 2006 and good until 2011. But they also found a passport for Nancy in Brad's Cisco office along with Katie's, I think. Anyway, one child's passport was in his Cisco office along with one for Nancy and the other child's was in his home office.

I remember from somewhere -- testimony? affy? -- That NC told her friend JA, maybe, that she had kept all this stuff -- the girls' passports, her p/p and other things locked in her car -- that's why she kept the spare car key in the car, and JA (I think) said she always went running with her keys. Because of that & because her dad said to hold the keys in her hand so that they could have been used as a weapon, should anything happen.

Anyway, NC said they had been at the pool, and Brad got her keys to get something for the girls (always the Good Dad & Husband), and she figured that that was how he got the p/p's for all three of them. (Always thinking, that BC.) And thereto her future followed...
