So you think he used this dropcloth to dispose of her body, then took the time to bring it home, fold it up, then put it in the garage and place the wrapper bag on top of it?

No folding done at all..it was jammed into that Home Depot bag..and I'll just bet he planned on dumping the whole bag..but got side tracked with JA calling him and Police getting involved...

Drop cloth was not needed to wrap body..only to protect interior of vehicle.

Its pretty clear the board is pro-he-did-it, so its nice to have your counter-perspective. But every time there is damaging evidence you seem to discard it, sometimes with decent reasons, and like I said I appreciate the counter-arguments.

But this is huge. Its a big deal because those shoes have gone missing on the same day his wife went missing. Is it just a coincidence he lost a pair of shoes that day? And during those 17 minutes he might have been disposing of the shoes (and other articles of clothing). But it doesn't matter, we don't need to see a video tape of Brad dumping shoes down a sewer drain to know he disposed of them. The prosecution would not be going down this path if the shoes had been found. Missing shoes = disposed shoes, or they would have been cataloged as evidence from the get go. Either the shoes were disposed of, or Brad hid them. Either way, it is one more piece of the puzzle, and it looks very damning.

My only caveat is I was surprised how this evidence was almost downplayed by the way the questions were asked and the answers given. I would have expected stronger answers from the detective about the shoes.

I'm not dismissing anything. I'm trying to determine if there is a logical explanation for the actions. For stuff that there isn't, I'm certainly not dismissing. As for the "missing shoes", I'll wait to see what comes out on cross examination to determine if they are really missing. There was one single question today concerning those shoes and it was answered that they didn't recover them. That doesn't tell us anything except the police don't have them. That doesn't tell me they actually looked for them. Again, I'm confident the defense will address those on cross. Then we can see whether they are really missing or not. But I'm certainly not going to agree that they are missing because of that 1 comment.

Heck, nearly everyone on this forum thought one of her earrings were missing because of earlier testimony. We later found out they weren't. But people were already saying how Brad had to get frustrated trying to get them off with this big hands and must have given up on the 2nd. Lots of discussion about that second earring that really was never missing. So let's hear more than 1 quick question about those shoes before we turn this into Brad threw the shoes away to hide the murder. I love how he threw the shoes away, but wouldn't throw a dropcloth away that was used to keep his trunk clean.

Weird wanderings? Please explain.

guess you didnt see the video..He was shown to go one direction..then turn and go another direction..as if he didnt know just where he needed to go..
Maybe they will post those video's shown in today's court proceedings so it can be reviewed...

Unfortunately, there is just 1 camera and that dude was napping most of the day. Unless there is follow testimony, we will never have a chance to see it.

But but but..as a piece of admitted evidence would it not be accessible now??..Although I did see that on my live feed so maybe it is still available..for re- viewing what was streamed..At least I hope so..

The videos are from CDs the state admitted into evidence.
I suppose they may be available after the trial?
(if you know the right person)

Another thing regarding JA - Since it's now been shown that BC bought the paint and supplies for NC's paint work at JA's house, how does that support the story that he was so upset with her for earning extra cash painting houses? So upset that JA decided to not even tell him she was due to paint there on Saturday. I'm not buying it. If he was so against it, why did he buy the paint?

In the depositions it seemed Brad took every opportunity to diminish Nancy as a wife. He tried to make himself look like the dutiful husband. He really evoked no sympathy for Nancy and it came across in the depos.

Perhaps he already had a drop cloth already in the garage and that was used in the trunk and later discarded (with shoes and other incriminating evidence). However, while planning the murder, he thought if he purchased one and then had it in the bag like it hadn't been used that could be his proof it wasn't him (if the drop cloth was found) because here is his drop cloth? While I was thinking about it, it sounded like a great plan, but as I write it out, I don't think so.

Fair enough.

On the issue of the dropcloth, Brad would know full well not to dispose of it having bought it a day earlier. I'm not convinced he used it either. The testimony about its condition has been too vague so far. I don't see Brad buying a tool to conceal murder one day, knowing police would be finding out, and then it going missing.

As for the shoes, he's not infallibly thorough and this strikes me more as an unplanned oversight.

And it is this downplaying in the testimony (quoted above) that makes me think we're going to here more on this, either from cross or from other witnesses.

Has there been any testimony if LE asked BC where those shoes were and what the answer was?

Pretty good shot of the shoes starting at 10:15 on this video. Not sure they are Sperry's or a boat shoe of any kind. But, it could be my computer screen too.

I stand corrected...however, they still look like a casual canvas shoe of some sort.

Thanks. Yes, I would say the question about the shoes and answer were vague. When asked about the shoes he said "no, not based on what I can tell from the video" which certainly isn't showing much. I sure couldn't go to a store and pick out shoes that look like that based on that grainy video. I agree w/NCSU95 that we need to hear more before we jump to any conclusions.

No, but I was expecting that they would have. The omission of the question in direct examination is why I'm still hedged on this, but the missing shoes immediately cast major suspicion.

Actually based on the image of these shoes, they are VERY distinctive.
Even more so than a plain Sperry.
If Brad had the shoes, the CPD would have them in their possession today.
At least that is the common sense version.......

It was a custody hearing. Of course he wanted to come across as super dad.

LOL! I don't know, I guess if he was planning the murder. I pretty much think he is innocent at this point, but of course still have some doubt, having not heard everything. But I think IF he did it, I don't believe it was premeditated. I think he would have bumped up the life insurance, would have planned it better, preferably when the kids were not in the home, etc. And I don't think it was his desire to raise those kids on his own and I don't have the sense at all that he hated her, even though everyone wants to believe that. He bought her the BMW she wanted, watched the kids so she could go out with friends often, bought her the necklace, the painting, $600 outfits...you don't do that stuff for someone you hate. I just don't see it.
ETA: plus, they had plans to get together w/the Hillers the night of the 12th. If they hated each other that much, I don't believe they would have made those plans.
