Hi! I haven't commented in forever, but I have been following this case closely.

Just thought I would drop in to say that it seems to me that Brad takes a sip of water (in the deposition) just after he has lied or had to answer an uncomfortable question. I watched the deposition when it was first released and made that observation. Now I am noticing it again. Anybody else notice this?

P.S. I live more than a thousand miles away and don't know any of the parties.
:twocents:

Nice to have you on board! Especially from a distance.
I haven't noticed the sips but will start looking for them.
Like Scott Peterson would do a slow blink each time he lied. People picked up on that pretty quickly too.

From what I derived from the testimony - Brad was asked to contact an ex-girlfriend by council for a character reference in his custody hearing. The prosecution clipped out the first part of that - so when you watch the video it appeared he contacted this woman for other nefarious purposes.

I like that, 'for a reference'. Especially after just reading the sworn affidavit of his last relationship prior to Nancy. I wonder what kind of *reference* this Tayle (sp?) woman would have given had she been contacted?

Hi all. First time poster here but long time lurker. I have been reading the discussion here and appreciate how you all break down the trial for those of us who can't watch it during the day.

Decided to just jump in here on this discussion because I live in Lochmere and it is pretty common knowledge around here that JP's ex-wife sued HM for alienation of affection (and won). HM's relationship with JP continued for quite a while after their marriages broke up. I don't know the exact timeline of the affairs but it seems HM cheated on her ex, SH, with both JP and BC. How she managed to keep up two long term affairs with both and have time for a husband and kids is beyond me. Maybe the BC thing was just "one indiscretion?" Either way she sounds like a real winner and I think we will all need a flow chart to keep up with all of these affairs!

Great post! Thanks for more insight. Gotta love the 'almost first hand' take on things.

Maybe not so great and that's why he lied about her last name?

Since you live in Lochmere - can you tell me what day is trash pick up in your development?

Sorry, I am still trying to figure out how all this works. Pick up is on Thursday.

And as Brad's prior to Nancy, last long term relationship, he description of his way with her is spot on as to Nancy's reports IMO.

I have to believe Brad has difficulties with any relationships..due to honesty and trustworthiness being first and formost...I tend to think Narcassism is too easily applied to people who seem self absorbed..But I truly believe Brad lacks social skills....Liasons are easy to maintain..shorterm things..but true commitment is really difficult ..Brad lies when he doesnt really need to lie, Brad lacks empathy or understanding of other's feelings, and avoids interactions with others due to that! He is not a social personaility..which normally wouldnt be huge issue..however, when one has their "SELF" threatened, they lack some ability to be reasonable.."My Way or the Hiway" type thing.. I tend to think other past relationships he had ended due to this "Disconnect"..Unfortunately, Brad didnt appear to deal with Nancy's separation and need to return to Homeland (CAnada) and take kids (he didnt minds that)..but when his FINANCIAL EMPIRE was challenged it became some sort of Breaking point!..

Sorry, I guess Im just being an armchair psychiastrist..but that appears what this case boils down to..Brad had the tools to Spy, Control, and Manipulate his wife (being totally dependent) and He unfortuantely Murdered the mother of his kids and has made a real mess out of things:maddening:

Dont jump on me..I am truly find rationale for such terrible behaviors:truce:

Remember that you're under oath - is that your sworn testimony? ;)

Just as an aside on my & our types of google searches. Us meaning those who have high interest in true crime and such. We, husband & I, have had a problem with moles since we moved here. So one day last week, when I was out front filling all my birdfeeders, I see hubby come traipsing across our property from the direction of a neighbor guys house. We are all on acre plus lots, so we aren't really close in proximity to each other, at least not close like the Cooper neighborhood. So hubby comes chugging along holding up a little baggie with some beans/seeds in it. And he's telling me 'neighbor guy gave him castor beans to plant.' Immediately I say "what do you mean 'castor beans?" Do you know what castor beans are?? "Do you know they are highly poisonous?" "No way are you planting castor beans on our property!" "We have dogs who chew everything, and grandsons who are like Dennis the menace times three." No way, no how, and I don't want them in my house. That's all I need is for one of the grandsons to find them and chew a bean. Now how many people, non crime people, I mean, would have all this castor bean knowledge?

I, too, live out in the country and in the past we had problems with moles. I read about the castor beans and felt the same as you--tooooo dangerous, didn't want them in my yard for any reason. For some reason, our moles left on their own but only after about 5 years of chewing the roots off of everything I planted--which made it all die. I have read that dropping chewing gum in their holes will choke them to death--may want to try that.

It looked like the deputy was locking them in! :floorlaugh:

Close to it, you're right.

Some county LEO has to be near the prisoner at all times -- notice the usual position for this LEO is between BC and the door. BC would never bolt, I feel sure, but some might. Remember, Ted Bundy escaped out a courthouse window (but not in open court).

Ted Bundy was one of the early cases pulled me into true crime many years ago. And the movie with Mark Harmon was well done. I can't watch and enjoy NCIS now because each time the camera pans to Mark Harmon I think of Ted Bundy, just can't get past it. Bundy was one of the most intelligent criminals law enforcement ever faced. But his intelligence, and luck, finally ran out. Thankfully.

I see your point about it being our only glimpse. That makes sense to me. I guess I just wonder if the jury needs a 6-hour glimpse. :waitasec:

There were too many lies to fit into a smaller time frame.

I don't think it is the GF, I think it is the other shrink. MOO

What other shrink? There's only BC and a roomful of lawyers, IIRC.

But I don't understand why that that one Q & A is causing so much pain & suffering, either.

The first couple years we didn't have any problems with the moles, and then somebody with a little rat terrior moved in behind us. Suddenly we had mole tunnels running through the back end of our property. I'm guessing that little 'ratter-dog' sent 'em our way. :-) My husband put some powder stuff out for them IIRC, last year, except it directed them towards our daughters property. :great: Didn't want to do that. Although, come to think of it, 'the wrecking crew', papa's name for the grandsons, maybe could handle the moles.

I personally think that the state did this on purpose.

I disagree -- they don't need it, and there's no reason to include it -- and I really don't see the damage it could potentially cause. Their point can be made with no problem without it. The depo speaks for itself.

You know, I'm the same with Mark Harmon. Can't stand watching him in anything since Bundy. And I saw a new Bundy movie recently, much more graphic, much more detail paid to how truly brutal Bundy was. I believe I saw it on one of the Showtime channels. The book that really got to me was The Hillside Stranglers. I actually had to stop reading that book. Even a true crime junkie like me couldn't take it. :(

She is terribly good at keeping things straight and her innate ability make accurate calls is a talent.

If I had enough sense to find the courthouse and parking deck I would love to go one day and observe. I still may, got to get my nerve up a little more.

Do it! I observed this past Monday and found it to be an incredible experience. No nerve is required - just walk right in the courtroom and find a seat like you own the place. ;-)

This is the way I saw all the problems with that piece of tape today:

1. The prosecution got an email that they didn't get until this morning with the defense listing parts of the deposition they wanted redacted.

2. The defense didn't reference these problem pieces by times on the tape. They had a transcript with lines through the part they wanted out.

3. The judge wasn't happy that the defense didn't deal with this a long time ago back before a jury was seated and wasting their time while the court argued the issue.

4. The line about contacting the former girlfriend "2 or 3 weeks ago" was the very piece the defense used in their example. The judge agreed and the state said they would keep that out. I don't know what other parts they want out but I know there are more.

5. Then it came in.

So for once the judge was angry with both sides and not just the defense.

I don't think it was any one specific thing. It was the totality of it all. Brad's lack of any sort of sadness at the loss of the mother of his children. And what I'm referring to there is, if he was innocent, an innocent man would by now have seen how effected his little children were not having their mommy around to kiss them goodnight, hug them, wipe away their tears, etc. Regardless of their own issues at the time, Brad & Nancy, once she was gone, dead, brutally murdered, I couldn't get over how emotionless he was through these tapes. And how he kept using 'we'. 'We' got up saturday morning and 'we' were getting a bottle for (baby), and 'we' started doing laundry. All this usage of WE to show nancy was still alive saturday morning. As I said before, as if they were somehow conjoined twins. We We We..... There was such detachment, such a lack of empathy, lack of any sort of memories or feelings for those early years they were together. No emotion when he discussed her being found dead, murdered, etc. All of it finally took it's toll on me. Such an alive, vibrant woman, seen in lovely photo's with her children, 'way to go Brad' at his graduation........ending so tragically, especially for those two babies who would never ever have their mommy to cling to again. :(

My thoughts exactly, and beautifully said, Gracielee. He didn't even try to fake it -- the loss of this woman to their children was huge for them and for the rest of their lives, and it appears that he couldn't see that. Most folks are more upset than he seems at the loss of a gerbil.

Thanks. (( hug ))

I notice the change in what he does with his hands depending on what he's talking about. Right now he has his hands clasped but he fidgets and sometimes really presses down on one thumb with the other thumb when he gets really aggitated. His voice never changes but his hands sure do.
