After hearing these to closings so far...I think the verdict will be Guilty.

Welcome, Rufflemaker! I agree. I also hope the jury will at least take a poll among themselves this afternoon, then come back with a verdict at some point tomorrow.

My nerves and stomach are already in a knot just anticipating Cummings' closing statements. I think he will focus on Nancy, bring her to life, and how how much she meant to many people. If he can make coherent statements and leave out the err, amms, etc. he may do ok. I just dread it so much already.

He really needs to do that. She hasn't been part of this closing yet. He needs to drive home that she was a friend, daughter, and mother, and lead the jury to feel compassion for her.

Brad took the passport from Nancy's car without her knowledge. Brad having one child's passport is the same as him having all three of their passports because Nancy would NEVER have gone to Canada and left one of her girls behind.

Nancy and Brad never agreed to each keep one passport. Brad took it from Nancy in an effort to prevent her from moving to Canada. It wasn't because he wanted the girls...it was because he was not going to let her divorce him and end up paying most of his salary to Nancy. He had to keep her in Cary until he could find the right time to kill her.

Don't forget, she could not work here legally either! He was the one in control.

I think no matter what Boz said, the BII peeps wouldn't have liked it either way.

Just sayin.

While he's no Trenkle, I think he did alright leading the jury around his rollercoaster ride of a closing argument.

The proof will be in the decision the jury comes to.

let me explain;.......and sorry to be slightly o/t........i am very happily married and have been for 22 years..................but i was in a horribly abusive relationship prior to this marriage, abusive in every sense of the word.........

i HATE when someone falsely claims abuse or whines about situations that are not what i call abusive per say, just not good relationships........

i do hope i have made myself clearer..............if you've spent any time in a hospital at the hands of another, or been at the mercy of another's COMPLETE CONTROL you get what i'm saying..........

off soapbox now:crazy:

Agree, but isn't murder the ultimate form of Domestic abuse?

He is such the opposite of what I envision her to be like....he may have a hard time bringing her essence to life. Hope he does ok.

I don't consider returning to the place that they were BOTH from and where they BOTH have family, and where they can BOTH work and have lives exactly "running away" with the kids.

If she took his kids and left the country without his permission (as is required when crossing the border), that would have been running away with the kids. Regardless of where she went.

The suicide search was allowed. He bookmarked it. I was in court that day. He transferred the bookmarks to his new IBM laptop...from Feb over to April 2008.

The DOCUMENT he got from the suicide site that talked about all the ways to kill oneself, including asphyxiation, was not allowed to be entered.

Wasn't it allowed because Kurtz opened the door when he said that they only found one piece of evidence (the google map) on the computer on cross?

He lied about the cisco witness saying the call duration would be 23 seconds. The testimony was it would be 22 seconds (no more, no less). But the lie allowed him to match the 23 second call at 6:05.

He lied about Brad doing his google searches on the 12th on the thinkpad. He did them downstairs on the mac. But this allowed him to question why they didn't have timestamp issues (or whatever he argued about).

Google searches to Fielding Drive? They were done at his work at approx. 1:15 or so on Friday 7/11, the day before she went missing. The phone call I don't care how long it lasted, I believe in the spoof.

i did not notice, but that's not right!! EVERYONE should obey the judge imo......both sides

i HATED when justin barber was convicted of his wife's murder and his entire family refused to stand for or acknowledge the jury or judge..........

I can't see how someone could see that since the guy turns the camera off at this point

I'm normally pretty good at multi tasking but I can't listen, paint my hallway and read/post here at the same time... apologies if this has already been discussed.

I don't think Boz should have been able to repeat over and over that while Kurtz was claiming tampering the defense offered no experts, no one with the opinion that tampering actually occurred.

Had the defense tried to say they would have offered experts/opinion but the judge wouldn't allow them I'm sure there would have been an objection and flogging by the judge but the Boz repeated and repeated that they offered no experts.

Just wrong imo

I am sorry for what you have been through. There are forms of abuse that don't get treated in a hospital

when you sleep w/ your car keys for fear that your husband will take your car
when you keep items on your person 24x7 for fear that your husband will take them
when he's reading your email
when you cannot go by yourself to put gas in your car
when you get taken off of the bank accounts and the credit cards without your consent
when the only money you have access to is what he chooses to give you
when the only way he tells you that you can leave him and go home to be with your family is to leave one of your children behind

to me, that is categorically abusive. It infuriates me that some people insist that Nancy had a great life w/ Brad.

It matches what people said. However, it doesn't explain away what I heard from the expert witness that was allowed not allowed to testify. It doesn't explain the missing cookie or the invalid watermark on the file. And it doesn't explain away the issues with all the timestamps associated with those searches.

That witness explained himself away. He said he only looked at what he was told to look at, and did not look at any thing else. With that approach, an expert witness will form any opinion that is desired.

Boz explained it with buggy version of Vista. That sounds more likely to me than a Cary police detective manufacturing elaborate digital evidence to the degree of accuracy to fool the FBI.

You are correct. I knew there was a reason why they were allowed to bring it up after all but I couldn't remember what it was. Thank you.

I do not agree with you very often, ncsu95, but you are right about this. I think Cummings will make Nancy be front and center of his argument.

He also lied about there being no proof the sim card was destroyed. The jury heard the testimony. I don't think they will agree with Boz on that one.

He ripped on JW not being as technical as the CPD detectives.

The way he continued to say "you heard all witnesses here saying there were no signs of tampering" is another enormous lie. JW saw evidence of tampering. Did Boz forget that the jury heard his testimony?

What does that have to do with my post? He was talking about the searches on the 12th to the Life & Science museum and the other ones.

Unless the jury is comprised of some technical folks I don't think any of that is important. He was taking a risk on some of the things he said...and was assuming that the computer and voip stuff is over their heads. We will see...

I agree. I think all the IT stuff on both sides will be ignored. Even if one person on the jury knows enough to explain it I wouldn't trust what that person said because I would have no way to verify it.

if any woman on that jury has been truly abused, boz just lost them

But as a plan, you have to give Brad credit. He held his tongue in front of others, Planned well using his own expertise, started to be at home more and somehow, someway convinced Nancy to stay. Then, OOPS, Nancy just magically got randomly murdered. Brad is the poster child for the luckiest soon to be divorcé in the Country. MOO
