So, no one thinks the judge will include a lesser charge this time around, huh?

I can not see this going into a 3rd trial...

The Pros and the Defense went all in, there is nothing left at this point.

Every rock has been unturned, literally.

Cammy, it's too late for JY. . .it is beyond repair, regardless of the outcome.

Right, but it's not too late for his next potential victim. I just hope he doesn't get the chance to meet her.

Just a thought. I think a NG would allow an overturning of the wrongful death lawsuit. Hmmm...

We have talked about that, some think it can not be overturned, I am not sure.
Good point, John.

I'm pretty sure I heard testimony (from Shelly Schaad?) that said she did have it off, although the police report says it was on. BTW, a lot of people would not admit to the police to having a seatbelt off, especially in an accident where an insurance claim would be filed for a totaled car.

Michelle did not have her seat belt off.

Maybe you missed it. Someone posted earlier that the PT did not know of the friendship until after the officer testified. Someone from Brevard got in touch with the PT and informed them of the friend connection. It was discussed earlier.

Even if I did miss that someone posted that Jason knew the brother of the investigating officer, the implication is that the officer lied on the stand in his official capacity. That's pretty serious ... so the prosecution, instead of questioning him in court, made the implication through the suspect's mother. If the prosecution was prepared to stand behind accusing the officer of dishonesty and absence of moral intergrity, the prosecution should have had the decency to accuse the man to his face while he was testifying.

I cannot overlook this because the prosecution was reading someone's facebook page and learned new information ... so they ran with it ... and implied that an officer was dishonest. That seems to be the rumor. The officer deserved an opportunity to respond to allegations of that nature. If the prosecution missed their chance, that's their problem and the oficer should not have had his reputation placed in question. That's how I see it and that's unfortunate for the officer.

Introducing evidence about the car accident but excluding the investigating officer, hearing a day after he testified that his brother knew Jason ... doesn't work for me. Why wasn't he introduced at the same time as the theory about the accident? We know it's not because his brother knew Jason.

It proves someone ( 2 people) were at the house at 5:30 am, and if the state wants Jason in King, NC at 5:27 am, it just doesn't work.

Why couldn't Jason be in King at 5:27am while at the same time 2 people were in a car in the Youngs' driveway. No one saw those people in the house. Could have been 2 random people that got lost and turned around in the driveway or it could have been 2 of apparently hundreds of newspaper delivery people that are in that neighborhood that CB is aware of (NOT the News & Observer of course). Maybe it was an "inviting" driveway b/c all the lights were left on by JY after he murdered his wife 2 hours earlier. If I had to turn around in a driveway, I would pick a well lit one over a dark one if there was a choice. Anyone know if the Youngs received any newspaper delivery at their home? If you believe CB, could this have been a newspaper delivery route driver with a passenger?

This has to be the start of such a nerve wracking time for all involved.

The families, the friends, the lawyers, etc.

I know, just as a complete outsider, I am starting to get nervous.

I don't think that's true. They are 2 separate trials. I remember OJ was found NG, but lost his civil suit for wrongful death.

Just a thought. I think a NG would allow an overturning of the wrongful death lawsuit. Hmmm...

RE: the car accident. Hindsight is 20/20. NO ONE thought anything of it when it happened, but when you look at the insurance evidence and the fact that Michelle ends up murdered 5 months later, the whole incident becomes suspect.
Michelle was pregnant...why was she going to get coffee?? They were leaving that day to drive all the way back to Raleigh, why not stop on the way out to begin with.

The point that makes the accident 20/20 hindsight attempted murder is the rumor that she just happened to have removed her seatbelt to reach for her skin cream in the back seat at the same moment that the car went into the river. That unbuckled seat belt made the accident suspicious. Now we know that she was wearing her seatbelt as that is the evidence that was presented at the time.

Nothing else about the accident is suspicious.

The Youngs did not subscribe to a newspaper.

Just like all the other coincidences, what are the chances someone just randomly turns into the driveway of a murder victim that am?

How in the world was Jason going to collect on any amount of insurance money, ever?

It is an ongoing murder investigation, no one is going to pay out on that kind of money.......

JMO

He wasn't thinking about insurance money when he was halfway through a quiet, grieving five hour drive and realized that he couldn't afford the house. I'm sure a lot of things go through one's mind when learning that a spouse is dead ... including finances ... apparently winning the lottery wasn't on his mind.

Were all the lights on when MF arrived?

Just a thought. I think a NG would allow an overturning of the wrongful death lawsuit. Hmmm...

I don't think so, the preponderance of the evidence is much less in a civil suit, they can appeal it , but I don't see it going anywhere, just like OJ

IRRC It wasn't the officer's brother. The officer's partner's brother was a good friend of JY. I can see how the PT wouldn't know about that. If that's wrong maybe someone can correct me.

Normally it would not be suspicious in itself, but if the wife is found murdered several months after with a 4million dollar policy, motive, opportunity, and CE pointing to the husband, then it becomes highly suspect.

Otto,
The trooper who testified was not the friend of JY. When the trooper arrived there was a deputy on site and this is who they are saying was friends with Jason.

The Youngs and The Fishers relationship doesn't sound like it was all that great, even before, except with maybe MF.

They were 2 different kinds of Mother In Laws......thats for sure, but they were good moms and grandmoms.

I hate seeing family members of either side being attacked, I think HC went overboard on Pat Young today, I almost think he was lashing out at Jason through her.

They knew by today he was not going to testify again........

She kind of set herself up for it, knowing that Jason is not testifying again, any issues the prosecution could expose had to be introduced through her - like the returned gifts.

I found it interesting that the prosecution introduced that there was another sister that lived nearby but who was not testifying.

I don't believe Cindy Beaver's testimony. In some cases, it differs substantially from what she testified to in the last trial. Hopefully, the prosecution can bring out that inconsistency in the rebuttal.

The Youngs did not subscribe to a newspaper.

Just like all the other coincidences, what are the chances someone just randomly turns into the driveway of a murder victim that am?

Were all the lights on when MF arrived?

Outside, yes.

Responder Earp said he put the master bedroom light on......

Eye witnesses say the house was all lit up, so a little unclear.

Which reminds me, why would Jason leave all the lights on
to attract attention when he needed to get 170 miles away
before anyone got suspicious?
