I didn't think that JB had flown to an airport for that review you are referring to. I thought that it had been in Orlando, where the evidence is housed and the SAs had arrangeand and layed out at the sheriff's office for inspection.

I thought that the caption was making reference to the "unique opportunity" that JB had arranged during the conference for three of his experts to meet and review the findings together.

I guess I miss read.

Baez I imagine is too busy trying to school everyone else on how to do their job: HHJBP, Ashton, LDB, YM...
I wonder if someone told him in order to take control of a witness or situation, you must pretend that you know more about their occupation than they do, get them off balance, make them question their own veracity, then you can dangle them like a yo-yo on a string. He tried this with Bloise as well.
He just fails at this and comes off looking like a imbecilic d--chebag.

As with your first post or so on page 1, I'm seeing this as manipulative behavior via denial ("confusion" about the facts or language) and passive-aggressive thwartment.

It's become clear in the past that Baez expects State to do his job (decode the DP statutes) and more recently that he expects Judge P to do it too (call the DNA lab for test results).

At the same time, this is not just using others, it also seems to be controlling behavior. It buys time (for what, who knows? lol) and is attempt to dominate the judge and State attys. jmo I am theorizing that Baez thinks if he keeps this up, everyone else will give up and let him have his way despite procedural rules and statutes.

He seems to have gotten away with a lot of things (in his mind, at least) so why not keep up the behavior? lol To him, both positive and negative attention can be spun into a self image that shows him to be Attorney of the Decade, maybe the millennium, since he is fighting against The Forces.

I'm guessing that Judge P will have no choice but to go ahead with sanctions but how severe remains to be seen....

It will be interesting to observe CM's behavior in court. :wink:

I guess he has no choice but to go to Chicago, I don't think it will do him much good though..I can see him sneaking around attempting to ambush any wayward forensic specialist silly enough to remain in one spot for more than a minute.

The only positive to me in the whole deal is that JB is spending his own money on a useless endeavor while giving the court the verbal "finger" on the deadlines. Muahahahaha!!!!! Just wait til HHJP gets him back in court..

I just had a thought. It seems throughout this fiasco that JB has tried to keep certain information from making it into the public forum while blowing BS at the public, all in the name of defending his client. Now, we know that most, if not all, of the info that JB has released has been carp. The RK ex-wife recording, the possible sitings of a "live Caylee", evidence that proves his client is innocent, blah, blah, blah. By the same token, he has fought tooth and toenail to keep other info from ever seeing the light of day. How he is being paid, what his experts might say, are there any "deals" in the background for when this trial ends. I wonder if JB is going to try to delay the Frye hearing or possibly keep it from happening because he knows that the SA has something so awfully damning that will be shown or told at the hearing that he knows once it is out it will be game over? Something that he can't BS his way around. The Frye hearing would be televised like the others, correct? Transcripted and available for the likes of Kathi B to request immediately after? I don't think he is as confused as he states. I think he may simply being prolonging the inevitable. MOO.

I think Baez may be playing a variation of the game he was playing with Ashton about which aggravating factors of the DP applied to the situation.

In that instance, Ashton laid it out very clearly and dramatically.

All the same, I am not sure what advantage lays in this "strategy" since Baez seems to ignore what he wants to know? lol

What kind of a system to we have in place when deadlines mean nothing? Really. And, in what other walk of life, or career are you allowed to be this incompetent and be such a smarm? Oh, yeah...politics! I bet that is where we will find mr. baez in the future.

If a Judges order is law and ignorance of the law is no excuse then JB has to be found in contempt.
BP would be doing a disservice to all the aspiring young hispanic lawyers out there if he didn`t IMO. A DP case is not the place to put affirmative action ahead of the convicts right to a proper defense. If KC knew what was in her best interests she wouldn`t be where she is today. Criminal Defense Attorneys exist to deal with the worlds KC`s. Ideally they`d be good at their jobs. JB has all the same personality traits of the woman he`s defending however. In about 6 months he`ll be hiring his own Criminal Defense Attorney to deal with the aftermath of his gross incompetence and do any of us expect that even he`ll understand what`s in his own best interest then? He doesn`t know how to use a phone, or apparently how to read.
He know`s how to dress the part nothing more and that`s all KC`s looking for in a lawyer IMHO. Well that and the fact he makes moon eyes at her and swallows all her koolaid. ITA she should be asked yet again if she`s happy with her counsel but not because I care about KC. I only care about preserving the case record so that on May 13 when she tries to fire her counsel to delay the start of trial, it`s denied.

If the Florida Bar exists to protect Lawyers first and the public second then they might want to ponder what this one member of their Bar is doing to tarnish the public perception of them all.
It would be akin to me sitting in the park watching another RN attempt to slap a screaming child and deciding I didn`t need to stop it because I was on holiday or because I needed to protect my colleagues professional reputation first.

I`m writing the Florida Bar myself. This is a disgusting display.

Last time they simply asked her if she was happy but she has no clue what they are doing so of course she said "yes". Her only source of information is her lawyers and she thinks she can trust them.. she needs another source before she can honestly decide if she is happy with her counsel. moo

I'm surprised Baez is actually trying to get away with this one and must surely know he faces the wrath of HHJP, but in retrospect, HHJP has threatened much, but in reality has only to date anyway, come up with a few stern words and a measely fine of less than $600.00.

To me it's actually quite obvious what he is trying to do. Stall, stall, stall and he's running off to the conference in a Hail Mary attempt to resuscitate the results of his experts so he can actually have something to object to in the Frye hearings.

For some reason Baez believes he has found a tiny speck of (fool's) gold that will convince these experts to see the evidence his way if he can only get together with several of them in person and get them to actually focus on whatever the heck this idea is.

Okay Mr. Baez, apparently you are a risk taker, but I'm not sure you've done the appropriate weighing and balancing of possible results before taking this (foolhardy) leap.

:wave: Yeah, it really does seem as if stall/thwart is the primary weapon in Baez's arsenal (lol). The only advantage I can see in this tactic is what you've so clearly pointed out above.

jmo when it gets to trial, Baez is going to try to charm the jury with winsome smiles and rueful glances (at least that's how he sees himself vs. the smirker and shirker lol). He has nothing and will rely on "style points."

I am not sure that Baez will get anything from his experts. He hopes he will, lol, but so far hoping against hope has not played out too well--darnit! State still wanted to go for the DP! Major thwartment! lol

If only we knew whether Baez submitted Dr Logan's report by the deadline. Given Dr Logan is the guy Baez claims will challenge the air sample science, would seem if the report is in Baez might be able to argue confusion as to the Frye ruling.

She can't be oblivious to Baez's tactics backfiring because she was there when Baez got fined by the Judge. She will also be in court for the hearing on the Motion To Strike the Defense Witness List. And if the Judge is contemplating new sanctions for this latest delay, IMO he will make sure Casey is in court for that as well.

She is an adult. No full lecture is needed. All the judge needs to do is address her directly at the next hearing and clearly ask "Miss Anthony, do you understand that no further extensions of time will be granted, no further filings or motions will be accepted past deadline and no witnesses will be allowed past deadline?" At that point it is her task to confer with her defense team and straighten out what is going on. The judge has the responsibility to make sure that she is provided with enough information to make intelligent decisions regarding her case and her defense, including her choice of council. The court is not there to teach her how to do so or to stage an intervention should she elect to choose poorly.
