As a retired pharmacist who never worked for CVS, or either "W" monster for that matter (Walgreens or Walmart), this is heartbreaking. CVS has long been notorious for horrific understaffing, and now they are acquiring Rite Aid's business in areas where that soon-to-be-defunct chain (which had its own share of problems over the years) operated.
Here's a story about the 2021 death of a 41-year-old woman from a heart attack. Presumably, she was too in fear of losing her job, and possibly career, to leave her overnight post - and she paid the ultimate price.
And here's a commentary from a retired professor in Pennsylvania. It's lengthy and has a lot of technical jargon, and yes, I know the website looks like something from the Wayback Machine, but he's right.
I'm posting this story here, because I expect criminal charges to pop up somewhere along the way.
