Brett Kavanaugh is a nominee for the Supreme Court. Aside from his political views, should he be judged for a possible one time situation in high school?

Women have reported that Mr. Kavanaugh has never acted inappropriately to them.

Sexual assault should be taken seriously, but this was never reported to school or law Enforcement. The men involved, have denied the allegations.

Could your life be so good that you could be scrutinized for every possible act in the last 50 years?

Please DO NOT ATTACK EACH OTHER.

Do not stray into everything political, please.

Discuss the post and not the poster.

If you take a stand on an issue you have to be ready to defend it. Posters are not attacking anyone if they disagree. However, if the disagreeing poster is actually attacking you then please alert.

Remember, I need to remain calm or my head will explode
Thank you,

Kavanaugh vote: Trump orders FBI probe; Senate vote delayed - CNNPolitics

Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation was suddenly thrown into doubt Friday after Republicans and the White House agreed to a one-week delay so that the FBI can investigate sexual assault allegations facing President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee.

"I've ordered the FBI to conduct a supplemental investigation to update Judge Kavanaugh's file," Trump said in a statement. "As the Senate has requested, this update must be limited in scope and completed in less than one week."

Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake first made the demand for the FBI probe after a chaotic scene at a Judiciary Committee meeting in which the panel advanced Kavanaugh by a 11-10 party line vote. Swing votes Alaska GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski, Maine GOP Sen. Susan Collins and Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin subsequently backed an FBI investigation before they'll vote to confirm Kavanaugh.

Key GOP senators call White House to make clear they want thorough Kavanaugh investigation - CNNPolitics

Key Republican senators have called the White House over the past 24 hours to make clear that they expect a fulsome investigation as the FBI reviews allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, CNN has learned.

Following questions about the scope and extent of the FBI investigation, a White House official also told CNN that the White House has made it clear to the FBI that agents are not limited in their expanded background search.

The news on this issue is so incredibly inconsistent and slanted from MSNBC, CNN, and Fox news. Is any news station actually impartial any longer?

Listening to y'all, the answer's no.

How much news do you actually read, tho? Serious question. You'll learn a lot more doing that.

Everything else is regurgitated and fed to us baby bird-style. Kinda sad, really.

Brett Kavanaugh’s Fox News Interview Is Now Testimony Under Oath – Rolling Stone

Most consequential: that Fox News interview that Kavanaugh conducted with Martha MacCallum has been entered into evidence as testimony by Kavanaugh — under “penalty of felony,” as the judge might put it. This means that the credibility-straining claims Kavanaugh made on the network could now place him in legal jeopardy.

In the Judiciary Committee transcript, the Fox News interview is placed retroactively under oath. A staffer, whose name is redacted, asks Kavanaugh: “Everything that you said on that interview, do you — do you affirm that today? Do you adopt that as your testimony today?” Kavanaugh replies, “Yes.” The SCOTUS nominee also responds in the affirmative when the questioner asks if Kavanaugh understands that entering his answers to Fox News as testimony means that he is “subject to felony prosecution if you’re lying.”

ETA:

Reviewing the Fox News transcript, Kavanaugh has now placed the following claims under oath:
...

His drinking habit:

MacCallum: “Was there ever a time that you drank so much that you couldn’t remember what happened the night before?”

Kavanaugh: “No, that never happened.”

MacCallum: “You never said to anyone, ‘I don’t remember anything about last night.’”

Kavanaugh: “No, that did not happen.”

(Much more at link!)

AND THEN:

Documents released by Judiciary Committee member Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) also cast doubt on Kavanaugh’s truthfulness about drinking and memory. Emails from Kavanaugh’s time in the George W. Bush White House record his participation in a 2001 boy’s weekend on a boat rented from Annapolis, Maryland.

In an email to his friends from his White House account upon returning to work, Kavanaugh thanks his ship-mates for a great adventure but confesses he does not remember everything that happened, while apologizing for his belligerence: “Excellent time,” Kavanaugh writes in a message dated September 10th, 2001. “Apologies to all for missing Friday (good excuse), arriving late Saturday (weak excuse), and growing aggressive after blowing still another game of dice (don’t recall).”

Well i am sure the ones against BK...will believe Julie Swetnick but I find her bizarre.

Nothing is definitive. Is if he did. She didn't even seeing him spiking the punch. Even the interviewer said that her story is inconsistent with her own sworn statement.

Conveniently her mom is deceased and so is the cop She said she reported it to.

The interviewer said they have not been able to find anyone to substantiate her story. One person she named has said he doesn't even know her.

Yep, he should have admitted the drinking. His unequivocal denial of any drinking is going to take him down. When he said that, seriously, my jaw dropped. Yale is definitely not BYU! (Brigham Young University).

He could have slid by with the drinking, but when he lied about that...what else is he lying about. Idiot.

From what has been presented so far about Swetnick, I don't find her particularly credible, and that she went to Avenatti, not the FBI or through the Senate, makes her even less credible. jmo

Kavanaugh did admit to drinking...

"I drank beer with my friends. Almost everyone did. Sometimes I had too many beers. Sometimes, others did," Kavanaugh said. "I liked beer. I still like beer. But I did not drink beer to the point of blacking out, and I never sexually assaulted anyone."

He said, "there is a bright line between drinking beer, which I gladly do, and which I fully embrace, and sexually assaulting someone, which is a violent crime."

"If every American who drinks beer, or every American who drank beer in high school is suddenly presumed guilty of sexual assault, we'll be in an ugly new place in this country," he said.

“Passed out would be, no,” he said. “But I’ve gone to sleep. But I’ve never blacked out, that’s the allegation. And that’s wrong.”

All the other evidence out there, from other women and students and friends, etc., corroborates this woman's testimony.

It's a fallacy that somehow only eyewitness testimony is corroborative. That's false.
