Senate Judiciary advances Kavanaugh's nomination to full Senate, Flake votes "aye" with the understanding that a floor vote could be delayed no more than a week in order to let the FBI do an investigation that is “limited in time and scope.”

That was strange. I may be mistaken, but I think her field is psychology, so just the way she speaks about areas of the brain.IMO

One of her fields of expertise is the psychological and physiological affects of TRAUMA . One PhD. Two Masters. Top notch universities for all. 65 peer reviewed journal articles. Ffs.

6. A president is entitled to nominate candidates of his/her own choosing. Elections matter, both at the executive level, and in the Senate, where SC nominees are confirmed or rejected.

Snipped and bolded by me.

Yes, elections matter.

We don't have a direct vote on Supreme Court appointees, but we have an indirect vote by voting for the person who nominates the candidate and for those who do have a direct vote on Supreme Court appointees.

Vote.

So basically Flake is saying he won’t vote to confirm Kavanaugh on the floor even though the nomination is now technically advanced to the floor, unless there’s a limited one-week FBI investigation.

  • #1,212
Kavanaugh insulted the intelligence of millions of Americans by his reference to a Clinton conspiracy. He was playing to the cult.

Grassley...two hour rule...we're done...bang!

Sure, a bunch corrupt sleezeballs, mostly old white men, are bickering back forth about whether they are going to allow a man who is also old, white and likely also a sleezeball to stand as a judge in the highest court in the USofA.

Just another day in modern American politics.

I remember Susan Collins advanced DeVos to the floor but didn’t vote to confirm her

Flake met with Democrats behind closed doors this morning after stating he would confirm Kavanaugh. He is now asking for a week delay in vote for an FBI investigation on only the current allegations. That’s my take on it.

My question for anyone that would care to answer is what is it about Kavanaugh that makes you think he is innocent?
Some say they believe Ford was assaulted by someone...but not him.
In my opinion this guy is arrogant, full of rage (face twisted up yesterday every time Ford was mentioned) hates Democrats and possibly still has issues with drinking.
He is unable to deal with his emotions or any dissent.
I can see him as an abuser of others.
Plus this isn't isolated. We have others that have come forth with claims. IMO

It’s up to McConnell but he must not have the votes to confirm

  • #1,219
Thankful for Jeff Flake’s action. Here’s hoping McConnell et al agree. I hope Lindsey Graham has his Xanax handy.

Quoting my own post here but I really like this question as it can sum this entire thing up with one answer.

However, you must understand that there very likely will come a time when someone you admire and wholeheartedly believe in, will be sitting in Judge K’s seat.

With that said, I open this question up to everyone:

Put someone you really admire in K’s seat. Would these allegations suffice to make him ineligible for the highest judgeship in the land?

Thank you for a thought provoking question.

For me it’s BK’s behavior once the accusations became public that is so odious.

Yes, I would deny appointment for someone that I admired if this same scenario had played out post accusations.

I would no longer admire that person if he had reacted as BK has.

I really had no interest in BK until that creepy Fox interview caught my eye.

Maybe if he didn’t feel so entitled he would have handled himself with the decorum that, imo, the job requires.
