I seriously doubt that an investigation regarding an incident in 1982, is going to be conclusive. Thirty six years ago.
No, it is not political for me. By bringing up political figures, it begins to angle for this thread to close. We don't need to go there is all I am commenting on. This is a case about an accusation and to drag it into political is the wrong from a moral perspective as I see it. This woman's experience is not unlike many women who stayed silent whether you think Kavanaugh did it or not. It is awful to me that under the guise of how we fall politically we justify condemning one and not the other. That is not how I roll. Wrong is wrong.
Years ago (and, today in some parts of the world) young girls would be paid a dowry and be married off to an older man at 10 or 11. Not right then, not right now. I don't care your religion or politics. This Kavanaugh issue is the same to me.
I wonder if she thought that it could be investigated without her name being brought into it.What I don't like about this situation, is that people are supposed to be presumed innocent until proven guilty. One cannot just make an allegation, and expect it to stand alone.
The political polarization is disturbing. This man should not be "judged" on an allegation this serious, because a person does not like his political views. That is completely separate.
I googled his name and I see that this "P.J." person has denied "being at the party". I still don't know who he is, other than someone who denies "being at the party". Say what? He denies "being at the party"? What party? As I've stated: Who the hell is PJ Smith? And what party was he not at? I don't know and I don't really care.
I've been focused on who has been named to have been in the actual room when/where the alleged sexual assault occurred.
Mark Judge is the other male named to have been in the room when/where the alleged sexual assault took place.
Mark Judge authored a book titled "Wasted: Tales of a Gen X Drunk" wherein he recounted his "wasted" high school years at Georgetown Prep.
Mark Judge says "I have no memory of this alleged incident," Judge states in the letter sent by his lawyer, Barbara Van Gelder.
Mark Judge tells Senate he 'has no memory of alleged' incident with Kavanaugh - CNNPolitics
Mark Judge boasted about his "wasted" high school years while he was under the influence of alcohol at Georgetown Prep.
Based on his own admissions of being "wasted" (which he detailed in his book), I'm not a bit surprised that he issued a statement via his attorney saying "I have no memory of this alleged incident". It's clear to me that his attorney advised him that this was the best tack to take regarding attempted felony rape.
As I stated in a previous post, he is not a credible witness about what happened that night, based on his 'confessional" book about his years at Georgetown Prep.
Furthermore, I'm quite certain that his attorney has advised him that there is no statute of limitations for attempted felony rape in the state of Maryland.
In Maryland, there is no statute of limitations for rape or attempted rape and the alleged incident took place in suburban Montgomery County, outside Washington, D.C.

Third Degree – includes any of the following: engaging in sexual contact (intentionally touching the victim’s or defendant’s genital, anal, or other private parts for sexual gratification or abuse of either person) in any of the following situations: Without consent while using a weapon, strangling or seriously injuring the victim, threatening the victim with death, serious injury, or kidnapping, or committed with another’s help
Maybe not conclusive but if other potential witnesses were interviewed we may have a better understanding of what happened.IMOI seriously doubt that an investigation regarding an incident in 1982, is going to be conclusive. Thirty six years ago.
There is no need to be rude to any poster. You may certainly disagree but it is not necessary to be so....Emotions are not proof. Give it a rest.
That I can't answer but the media have their ways of rooting out information and yes at times they have help from others. IMOHow did the media find out about this confidential matter?
A leak by someone who had access to the letter? Seems likely to me. A leak that "forced" Senator Feinstein to make public something that the alleged victim didn't what known to the public.

That lack of recall seems to be going around as of late.Seriously, who could remember a party from high school? I went to dozens of them...and they were all fun. But I have no clue what to say if someone asked me about one...
I am not sure who to believe, but I saw a news blurb, that had dozens of women, stating, "I believe", in support of the accuser. One Senator from California was quite vehement in her support for the accuser.
How can they be so sure that this incident occurred?
In the Harvey Weinstein case, dozens of women came forward with testimony after he was accused of sexual abuse, rape, assault.
In this situation, I have not seen any other women come forward. That does not negate the testimony of the accuser, it just is a statement of fact.
I know this much, who would want to be in politics any longer? That type of scrutiny in minutiae, of every single potential issue you may have done since birth is dissected. I recently had a 20 year background check, they brought stuff up, I couldn't even remember! Must be cognitive decline.
Only attempted...*shrug and pfft*Good grief. NO ONE WAS RAPED!

I'm thinking in this case it is due to being in the best interests of the participants. IMO

I lived in Manhattan Beach when the McMartin claims first came out.
Every other car, within 2-3 weeks, sported a bumper sticker..."I believe the Children".
The initial claims were made by a woman, a mother of a preschool student, who was mentally unstable.
Without ANY proof, a multitude of people believed the claims; outrageous claims that were unrealistic and bizarre.
Why? Because EMOTIONS took over common sense. Because some saw dollar signs. Because the MB police dept. saw a means to make a name for themselves. Because a television station and one of it's employees saw a means to further his career. Because an untrained, unlicenased, self-aggrandizing woman wanted notoriety and was goaded on by news accounts, hysteria and the sexual attention of one newscaster.
LIVES WERE DESTROYED. Innocent people spent years in jail, lost their business, their homes, their health and their freedom. Because people IMMEDIATELY "believed the children".
STOP it. Be adults and WAIT until ALL the facts are in and evaluated. Jumping on the #MeToo bandwagon has done more harm than good recently.
IMO and I outlined in an earlier post today why I tend to believe her.How do you know this?
Were you there?
Seriously. You are believing her, and not him. Why?
You have every right to your opinion and I have every right to have mine. I am an adult and I can choose to react, believe, and hold views that I want. You don't need to yell at me or tell me what to do. I respectfully ask you to cease.
For every trumped up charge and false allegation there are hundreds of real situations. That is a truth. Many of those real situations are repleat with people who condescend, question and shame people who were victimized.
