Brett Kavanaugh - Wikipedia

If these women are found to be credible and more come forward, he may well have issues with his current position as well.

Due to the current political climate, I wonder who would even want their entire life open to public scrutiny if his nomination fails.

It’s like running for office, except it’s a lifetime appointment. Of course their lives should be scrutinized. They always are.

Hi, @human! Yes, where there’s smoke, there’s often fire, imo.

Everyone,

You all know enough about Websleuths to know we do not allow sarcastic flippant remarks for both sides of the case here.

You have your right to believe whichever story you want. You cannot, however, trash either side.

I know you want me to give you a more detailed answer but I can't.

Discuss like adults, don't insult either side and stick the facts as you believe them to be.

It would be great if we could keep this thread open but if it even begins to look like there are going to be problems and the thread starts taking time away from other
forum issues I will shut it down pronto.

I really do not want to do that so please everyone discuss but don't argue OK?

I used to be under the impression that victims of assault would have impaired memory's because of the trauma inflicted on them. I was educated by other members of this forum that the opposite is true.

In fact victims have a greater memory of the assault and all details, even minor ones, about it. Why does Dr Ford not remember major parts of her story?

Ford has claimed Kavanaugh pinned her to a bed and tried to remove her clothes when they were teenagers at a house party in Maryland, although she has said she is unable to recall who owned the house or why there was a gathering there

That fact has me disbelieving her claims.

Kavanaugh accuser's details have changed, but she remains certain about abuse

Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh faced a storm of new sexual misconduct allegations Sunday after attorney Michael Avenatti said he had knowledge that Kavanaugh and high school friend Mark Judge targeted women with drugs and alcohol in order to "allow a 'train' of men to subsequently gang rape them."

Kavanaugh denies 2nd accuser's sexual misconduct allegation as Avenatti claims 'evidence' of 'targeting' women for gang rape

Still another male classmate who Ramirez claims egged on Kavanaugh to expose himself to her denied any memory of the party in question. In addition, the magazine published a statement by six of Kavanaugh's classmates saying: "We can say with confidence that if the incident Debbie alleges ever occurred, we would have seen or heard about it—and we did not. The behavior she describes would be completely out of character for Brett."

The statement continued, "In addition, some of us knew Debbie long after Yale, and she never described this incident until Brett’s Supreme Court nomination was pending."

A female classmate who signed the statement told the New Yorker that Ramirez "is a woman I was best friends with. We shared intimate details of our lives. And I was never told this story by her, or by anyone else. It never came up. I didn’t see it; I never heard of it happening."

Looks like I'm not getting the detailed answer that I hoped for so I will have to tread lightly.

It's a shame because I have a feeling that others would like to post on this thread but don't want to get into trouble with politics. JMO

Thanks for bringing this to the thread.

Another accuser who doesn't remember details of a traumatic incident

Sen. Mazie Hirono on Sunday suggested that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's "outcome-driven" conservative judicial philosophy directly undermines the credibility of his denials that he sexually assaulted California professor Christine Ford at a house party more than three decades ago.

Speaking to CNN's "State of the Union," Hirono, D-Hawaii, called for an independent FBI investigation of Ford's claims, before explaining why the presumption of innocence and due process should not apply to Kavanaugh's case.

Top Democrat cites Kavanaugh's 'outcome-driven' legal philosophy as reason to deny him due process

Due process should always apply. That's just crazy.

Whoa. So, could these claims be by a third (or more) woman?

Avenatti says he has witnesses who can back sexual assault claims against Kavanaugh

Avenatti’s response to the email was also included in the photo, to which he told Davis that he is “aware of significant evidence of multiple house parties in the Washington, D.C. area during the early 1980s, during which Brett Kavanagh, Mark Judge and others would participate in the targeting of women with alcohol/drugs to allow a ‘train’ of men to subsequently gang rape them.”

"There are multiple witnesses that will corroborate these facts and each of them must be called to testify publicly,” Avenatti continued, before going on to list several questions he advised Senate investigators to pose to Kavanaugh “without delay and provide the answers to the American people.”

Avenatti has not revealed the identity of the client.

His remarks arrive as Kavanaugh continues to face controversy surrounding sexual assault allegations brought by Christine Blasey Ford.

I am FB friends with several of my classmates from high school. Several of the women have revealed their rapes after 50 years.

My best friend in junior high wrote to me and told me about the rape that happened to her. She was up for homecoming queen. She was raped by some “popular”boys. She said she never told anyone because she was so,ashamed.

Another friend but I only met her as an adult told me of a time in college when she was attacked but got away. She said she never told anyone that it happened because she walked home alone at night ( her fault) and she was underage drinking.

I wonder if there is any female that has not had sexual assault. Mine was not rape, Just assault

We do seem to live in a "rape" culture. That being said, there are men who are definitely not rapists, and have never sexually abused or assaulted any woman.

I have studied how men and women interpret the exact same experience, and it was fascinating. I worked in a state prison, doing group therapy with men in the morning, women in the afternoon, I gave the exact same lessons, and it was amazing how both responded.

One situation was a movie, where the man was inappropriate with a woman. The men stated, "She wanted it", the women, seeing the exact same movie, stated that the woman had been "trapped, unable to get away".

Just a note on perception of experience and gender.

It is really very simple, some women will remember more than others.

I've been told that women who have been assaulted will have a great degree of memory many years after the traumatic event happened.

I'm talking about when they were small children not adolescent.

Earlier today when I read the second woman’s claim, it jumped out to me that Ford’s claim was not strong enough, so, now we have a claim that will definitely grab everyone’s attention.

Ford earned her doctorate in counseling psychology from USC and a master’s degree in epidemiology, specializing in biostatistics, from Stanford’s School of Medicine. Outside of academia, she does consulting for pharmaceutical firms, helping design clinical trials. According to her faculty biography in a course catalog, she worked as director of biostatistics for Corcept Therapeutics in Menlo Park.

You obviously are not a female.
