Yes, top-level government background checks go all the way back to high school.

Source: My Mom was a public high school teacher for 40 years, and she’s been interviewed multiple times about former students who we’re being considered for high-level government roles.
Yes. That's why these FBI background investigations that Judge Kavanaugh went through are good. JMO

In answer to a query upthread ...

Unless Tricia decides otherwise, Kavanaugh is the accused and his accusers are considered the victims in this matter. They are to be discussed according to Websleuths victim friendly policies.

Bumpity bumpity!

It's the standard Websleuths TOS ... you may discuss what is said in MSM about the main case players. If there is information about, or statements by the accusers in MSM, that may be discussed.

from The Rules: Etiquette & Information

What you cannot do is speculate negatively about or cast aspersions against the victims.

Any questions, please send a private message to WS staff.

Thank you, @sillybilly, for clarifying.

Yes, but not generally 35 years. Even a top secret clearance only goes back 25 years, and is generally "superficial", interviewing people you gave as references, they don't go digging around for stuff like this. Focus is on financial issues, foreign contact, this situation could be considered, "deception", if Kavanaugh had ever been asked by agents directly and did not answer truthfully.

If this vetting occurred for every single person with a Top Secret clearance, literally, there would be no one who doesn't have some situation...and the older you are, the tougher it is...and ironically, the standards have been more relaxed in the last 15 years. Many people would not pass the first round based on standards 25 years ago.

What to expect at Thursday's session (snipped in sections from article):

"At 10 a.m., Ford will appear first and deliver her opening statement.

After she speaks, each committee member will have five minutes to question her. Republicans — wary of the optics of their 11 all-male committee members grilling a woman claiming to be a victim of sexual assault — will likely cede their time to outside counsel. The GOP has hired Rachel Mitchell, a seasoned sex-crimes prosecutor from Arizona, to ask questions on their behalf....

...Following her questioning, Ford will be ushered from the room and Kavanaugh will undergo the same process....

...Grassley scheduled a committee vote for Friday morning and plans to bring the nomination to the full Senate early next week."

What to expect and what's at stake as Kavanaugh and accuser appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee - NY Daily News

It might be important to clarify that Judge said he didn’t want to testify publicly.

Kavanaugh accuser calls for FBI investigation before she testifies

Not that it matters much, but she said she was shoved not pulled into the room.
I think they should allow testimony from witnesses.
I know Judge said he doesn't recall or outright denied, but he also said he didn't want to testify.
I think he should be made to as a possible witness.
And today we hear that there are many witnesses from other events. Why not allow them to come forth and put them on record? IMO

Now, this is interesting, the list of questions Kavanaugh may be asked.
https://www-m.cnn.com/2018/09/26/politics/21-questions-brett-kavanaugh-under-oath/index.html?r=https://www.cnn.com/

Seriously, this is just getting ridiculous...a high school kid, writes stuff in a year book, as a joke, and he is called out for it now?!

What if that was you or your daughter? How would you feel?

Thank you. With all the claims and back and forth I missed that detail. So perhaps he would testify behind closed doors or via phone.
I wonder why that hasn't happened. As far as we know.
So how many are we up to now?
Ford- attempted rape
Ramirez- exposure, forced to touch body
Swetnick- possible rape and drugging..'spiked punch'
Claim of his involvement in gang rapes of other females.

Assaultive behavior- pushing female against wall after leaving bar
Was there a story about pushing a woman at a wedding or was that Judge?
IMO
eta to reflect story of rape on boat withdrawn.

Yes, generally 35 years.

And I’m not really sure what you’re arguing in the rest of your post. Your question about whether an FBI background check might include high school, which I answered, spiraled into arguing an extreme that I neither insinuated nor stated.

Really? I have three boys, I tried to raise right, but they say stuff, that makes me want to box their ears. I wonder who is their Mama, and why don't those heathens have any sense or manners.

Same here. Not purposely or accidentally or drunkenly or otherwise.

Those acid-washed, French-rolled, pleated and bleach-stained jeans I loved so much in 10th grade certainly were hideous, in hindsight, though. But that’s more funny “ha ha” than cringeworthy, tbh.
