All the defense would have to do is call Dr Ford to testify. She would say it wasn't them. Case over.

They say it was them. And if she will be shown to be mistaken about Kavanaugh, there you go. Prosecute just as was done with Cosby.

It keeps being brought up here and elsewhere in the media: why didn't Feinstein come forward earlier when she received letter? Why the delay? Maybe Feinstein didn't think credible. Dr Ford did not want to come forward with her name and only did so when her name was leaked. But I'm sure some here and many Republicans will keep trying to use those talking points...

Based on his Fox interview and other comments I don't think Kavanaugh will be very believable especially if he says his 1982 calendar doesn't mention attempted rape.

I have a problem with all of this coming out in the 25th hour. If they do investigate, and find out that the accusations are false or are politically motivated, she should be charged. If this turns out to be a manufactured claim, it does so much harm to the true victims of rape. It should have been investigated the moment the accuser brought to the democrat's attention.

Yes. If Dianne Feinstein thought the claims had merit, she should have brought to law enforcement. She should not have sat on it. We could have had independent facts.

She reported it to appropriate officials. If she sat on it and told nobody, I missed it. Link, please?

Dr Ford may hit a home run during her testimony today. It may cause enough people to vote against Kavanaugh's confirmation and he is out JMO

Staff for the committee's chairman, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), said that during a review of Ford's claims that Kavanaugh pinned her to a bed and groped her during a 1980s high school party, two men came forward to suggest it was a case of mistaken identity.

On Monday, a man submitted a written statement and spoke with staff from the Judiciary Committee after he claimed he believes he may have been involved in the alleged incident with Ford. He spoke again with investigators on Tuesday, and described his recollection of his interaction with Ford.

Witnesses say Ford may have mistaken them for Kavanaugh

So a dude comes forward and basically says I am good person and I am rapist here I am ??

it is not about home runs -- its simple really

we demand people trying to get on the surpeme court to be of certain standards

the simple fact, easily proven, that his best buddy, for years, has written several books about the debarachary they participated in for years is unacceptable.

His yearbook before any of this would be disqualifying.

There are reasons why 100,000 pages of docuemnts were suddenly catagorized in a manner that has never been done before is all we need to know

they have known this and 100,000 pages of "stuff" that they could not let out if they had to get him on the SC

the other justice went to the same school!

there are reasons why Judge has hid - he has two books of all this

its perjury its jail

all behavior has meaning

Fords yearbook has nothing to do with anything -- she is not being rammed through to get on the highest court in the land

there is a difference

if he gets on the nation is going to have spend millions getting him tossed off via impeachment

100,000 pages of hidden background material is quite a bit

She did what we are no longer used to politicians doing

keeping her word

she promised she would not out a victim of a horrid crime and did so

it is called honor dignity respect

You are wrong. An FBI investigation was reopened when the sexual harassment allegations came in on Clarence Thomas.

Because both Hill and Thomas were Federal employees. Currently, there is no jurisdiction for the FBI to investigate Kavanaugh or Blasey-Ford.

AGAIN: Blaming Feinstein is right wing talking point but not accurate. Ford did not want to come forward so Feinstein didn't come forward with allegation.. Republicans are trying to blame Feinstein but most people don't buy it--FBI investigation could be opened. Why not call Mark Judge? Because he wrote book "Wasted" about teenage alcoholism. Republicans do NOT want more facts to come out.

You are WRONG but I'm tired of stating the facts..FBI does background investigations. Kavanaugh is a federal employee.

You are mistaken.

The FBI does background checks, and they have ~ six times. The alleged crime from 1982 is not under Federal jurisdiction.

It could be under Federal jurisdiction. Someone has to ask for their assistance. Like Dianne Feinstein.

I know Blasey-Ford wanted confidentiality. Once there is credible evidence of wrong-doing, doesn't the greater public good displace confidentiality?

If the Senator was concerned, I would want my senator to act on the information.
