Yes. If Dianne Feinstein thought the claims had merit, she should have brought to law enforcement. She should not have sat on it. We could have had independent facts.

She honored the request of a traumatized victim of sexual assault. Good for her. And, the allegations of ALL the women who have come forward could have and absolutely should have been investigated by the FBI. There has been plenty of time for such an investigation; the FBI investigation into Anita Hill's allegations took 3 DAYS.

Because both Hill and Thomas were Federal employees. Currently, there is no jurisdiction for the FBI to investigate Kavanaugh or Blasey-Ford.

eta spelling

That is entirely inaccurate, as has been pointed out, repeatedly. Why not take a few minutes and read up on the standard, routine role of the FBI in REINVESTIGATING for background checks when new questions/concerns arise?

You are mistaken.

The FBI does background checks, and they have ~ six times. The alleged crime from 1982 is not under Federal jurisdiction.

It could be under Federal jurisdiction. Someone has to ask for their assistance. Like Dianne Feinstein.

I know Blasey-Ford wanted confidentiality. Once there is credible evidence of wrong-doing, doesn't the greater public good displace confidentiality?

If the Senator was concerned, I would want my senator to act on the information.
If I am mistaken so is Sen Lisa Murkowski, numerous senators, legal enforcement officials, lawyers. I think you are confused. White House, not Feinstein would need to order reopen FBI investigation. State charges would be filed by victim in Maryland.

From CNN:

. . . So, should an accusation this significant be investigated? I certainly think so. Every potential victim deserves to be heard.

But Ford needs to file a police report first. Bereft of a complaint, Montgomery County police have already stated an investigation is not forthcoming.

If Ford doesn't file a report, the Senate Judiciary Committee could still request the FBI begin an investigation, if it deems it essential to its confirmation process. And it has done so before -- when it requested an investigation into Anita Hill's claims against then-Judge Clarence Thomas in 1991. . . .

If FBI investigated allegation against Kavanaugh, here's what it would do (Opinion) - CNN

Trying to bore the public with the politics so we'll stop watching???

Nope, not happening. We're here for the entire hearing.

Grassley is already making this partisan and biased via his stumbling opening comments. His mind is made up...he just wants to vote K onto the SCOTUS.

I feel for Dr Ford.

Grassley contradicting (lying) what victim's attorneys have stated about availability.

I feel for Dr. Ford. Some of the statements triggered me also. She's hurting listening to the descriptions of the other claims...moo

She has to start the ball rolling at the local level. At the police department that has jurisdiction where the alleged attack occurred.

That's not quite right. Apparently only our President can request FBI investigate this further. Other links point this out, too, but here is one:

Can the FBI investigate the allegation against Brett Kavanaugh?

President Donald Trump has said the FBI doesn't want to investigate Christine Blasey Ford's assertion that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh assaulted her, and that it's "not what they do."

In fact, the FBI could certainly investigate Ford's claim, but only if the White House asks the bureau to do so. She has no authority to request it. Neither does the Senate

She seems extremely sincere, it is difficult to watch.

Very emotional. A prime example of why many of us stay silent. The harrassments on top of an assault as a young teen feels overwhelmingly disgusting. I didn't realize just how much this was going to affect me. :(
