Susan Atkins wants out of jail to die...

No, I can't provide you with a link. And, I don't think I am wrong. Do you believe that every person walking has the same care or HMO's as prisoners? No, they are taken care of, the prisoners I mean. Most of us live on a wing and prayer and hope someone will give us a shot of morphine in our end days. This overly compassionate stance is really disturbing when we are talking about a murderer and we have people who cannot afford basic health care. Much less end of life compassion. And, they didn't commit murder.

My compassion is disturbing? I'm out of this discussion on that note. You all can hate Susan Atkins and say mean words and so forth about her all you want to to each other. I want no part of the negativity regarding a dying person.

Wow...I wonder if Sharon had a "morphine drip" to help her with HER PAIN while her throat was being split!?!? Yeah...that is what I thought. I rest my case. :bang:
Man, I was seriously horrified when I seen the crime scene photos and sharon just broke my heart! It is unbelievable how they people had so little compassion on these victims and a woman with a baby in her belly. Gosh, its very sad. To this day sharons sister owns and operates her website and has all these pics of sharon and talks about what kind of person she was ect...It breaks you heart. If only sharon had a loved one sitting with her as she was slashed and her belly was carved into!

Maria, do you believe anybody should die in prison? Were you really expecting that all lifers without parole would be released to die? Is it just because she is a woman that you want her to not fulfill her sentence?

EVERYBODY has to die sometime, and if you honestly believe that her faith is real.. her conversion, then you will also believe that she is at peace. She will be looking forward to Heaven and she will already be forgiven by Jesus. Certainly she will be looking forward to dying.

I just don't understand why you think that someone DYING means that they should be wiped clean of their henious crimes to society. We all have to die... what makes her so special that she should suddenly be released, against the wishes of her victims family? Have you mentioned the victims even once in your care and compassion for this killer?

Yes, it is really sad Michelle. :(
If we let all criminals out because they were dying, where is the Justice in that to the Victims family? What if we let out Richard Ramirez, isnt he dying right now? Or Otis Toole who claimed to kill little Adam Walsh just because they wanted a "Compassionate Release". That is unheard of to me.

I agree and I will be soooo freaking mad if she gets it!:furious:

Sharon Tate and her unborn baby were killed in August of 1969, has it ever been know if she was having a girl or a boy? IF her unborn baby had been shown mercy and compassion he/she would be turning 39 the end of this summer. We will never know the person they could have become, what gifts they could have brought to this world.
The madness of the Manson Family needs to end, it's very scary to me that there are people out there today who seem to think that Charlie and his followers are people to admire and look up to. IMO there are to many other people right now dying who deserve our compassion more. The fact that she has been allowed to marry disgusts me.

She is not hungry.. not thirsty. She is dressed. She is allowed to have compassionate visitors in prison. Thankfully we don't run our prisons based on any specific religion, because lots of the prisoners would've been beheaded by now. If her conversion of faith was legitimate, then she will be feeling peace and forgiveness from her Savior. That does not mean that the rest of society has an obligation to forgive her evil actions.

edited to say, someone might correct me, but I believe Jesus respected the laws of the land. He would've given her comfort in prison if her conversion was true. But that would not give her a ticket to be released.

This is how I feel but wasn't sure how to say it. Thank you. :blowkiss:

I thought it was interesting when someone brought up Scott Peterson. 30 years from now people will probably forget what he did, and some may even feel compassion if he's dying. I don't for Susan Atkins, and I sure won't for Scott Peterson. I think their crimes are on about the same level.

Killers already get lots of compassion in prison. They get meals, health care, counseling, and can practice their religion. If this country got really tough they wouldn't even be alive but would have a swift death sentence. If John Gotti and all the other inmates die in prison where they were sent, why shouldn't a baby killer.

Also, just because I don't have compassion in this case doesn't mean I hate her. Two different things, IMO.

I think your compassion is disturbing because it is, to many of us, so misplaced. Where is your compassion for Sharon Tate, her 8.5 month old fetus that would have lived if anyone of them had enough compassion to call 911? Where is the compassion for the families that they murdered..she continued to stay with the Manson Family after this..she never had any compassion until she was in prison and suddely got religion..lots of people do that once in prison. Maybe she is there because she belongs there..rather or not she is dieing is of no consequence.

She is being treated better with medication, food , clothing, heat and cooling then 1000's of Americans who never hurt anyone.

Many women and children live well below the poverty line and would never ever consider doing what she did as a lark..following the whims of Mason because he wanted a song he had written recorded and published, someone earlier had blown him off, so he went on a rampage..that's what the whole friggin thing was about. A stupid song, from a stupid inept man..

And she was taking drugs is no excuse either..it was 1969..the majority of the people her age in this country had experimented with drugs..but they didn't suddenly start killing pregnant women because some loser told them to do that. This is the same month that Woodstock took place..there were no murders there.

Also to keep history straight..Manson Family members killed lots of people on Charlie's whims..who knows how many other people she also killed or watched be killed. They are still digging up the bodies at the ranch today.

Now..how could anyone truly believe that she should be allowed out of prison to die in the loving arms of her friends and family? She is lucky she has been given this much compassion..and if she truly felt remorse she wouldn't even be able to request this..she would know this was her due.

What she said.

... Being compassionate extends to those who were victimized first. ....

This presupposes that compassion is is like a pie and those we deem most desireable should get the first, best slice - or the whole damn thing. For me, compassion is more like a flame - it can be given to all without becoming any less - and in fact, when shared with all, lightens the world.
