Peterson to wait for possessions

Schoenstedt did not rule Friday and set another hearing on the issue for Feb. 27, but allowed Brodsky to call a forensics scientist to testify.

IMO the judge should order them held at least until after the Grand Jury investigation is complete.

I have been thinking about this. I have known victims bodies that were held for months, before being released so that family could bury them. I have known of stolen possessions that were held for months so they could be used as evidence in a trial. Yet because he is a suspect, HE has rights to HIS (their) possessions?!

And that brings me to a question. At least one of the vehicles was Stacy's, I wonder if it was in her name? Why should he have a right to it?

I think that LE following up on a posting supposedly by Stacey had to be done especially from this particular blog. This bit about a warrant or arrest seems odd. A potential witness in a case and in this instance two cases made a poor choice to create a blog about it. All IMHO of course

I agree. If Ric Mims is going to be telling what he knows on a blog, won't that create a problem with testimony he might give at a future trial? If a defense attorney were to follow Ric Mims blog, they'd have a preview of what he would be testifying to on a witness stand.

I think the only things he was going to do is reiterate his version of his timeline in this ordeal. On the Blogg he made it pretty clear that there were certain things he wouldn't and couldn't discuss at this point in time due to the GJ, etc.

Over at Gretawire someone has posted a llink to the IP address and you can actually narrow down the building if you click that link. Which makes me wonder why the ISP didn't just go there to find out what was going on since the address is available? Or maybe they did and we just haven't heard that portion of the story yet?

Something about this whole thing is bizarre..actually everthing about it is. I agree ISP needs to follow up on any leads..but can't for the life of me understand why they would go after the person who created the website and blog rather than the person at the IP address who left the comment. My hinky meter is going off again.

Between the letters about the sightings, the pics from Thailand and now this blog entry/comment this is becoming a three ring circus with JAB as ringmaster and Drew as the clown. But what it is doing is taking prescious resources away from Stacy's case..and that just is not right.

JMHO

Delta.............did you possibly get the link to the IP search engine?

I wonder if ISP went to the IP location and knocked on the door and spoke to anyone there? I would assume they would, but we haven't heard that from them or reporters..and I would have thought the reporters would have had the building/ home staked out them selves for any news breaks. JMHO

No I did not and now I am going to go back and see if I can find it. I have a pretty good idea about where it is in the comments over at Greta's blog. I'll be back.

Here it is..you can zoom in if you like to the street and building:

Delta........................that is an incredible IP locater! If you use the zoom feature it take you right to the building! It looks like a small apartment building. I want to use my own IP to check for accuracy.
Thanks! :)

Thanks Chico! I just tested that with my own IP and it's fairly accurate, but not right to the exact location/building.

I agree Leila..I should have said it appears to show you the exact building. Also taking into account wifi connections that may be open on home systems, public buildings and some public places that offer them..it could have been someone sitting in a car in that area with a laptop. But atleast we know the general area that it came from? Now is this area close to Peoria..heaven help us if it is....or near Bolingbrook?

I am in Kankakee County in Illinois and my ISP is ameritech aka sbcglobal, I tried the IP locator and it shows me as being located in Orland Park, IL so I wouldn't judge too much by the location that is showing. I am about 45 miles southeast of Orland!

Westmont is about 12 miles from Bolingbrook, and is about 160 miles north of Peoria.

Usually the most info you get from an IP locator is town/state and the name of the service provider. To find the person that is using the IP number would require their service provider to give that account info to LE. Just knowing someones ISP# doesn't lead to their exact location or their identity. Not from using an IP locator anyway.

I just used the IP locater for my own IP address and it gave a location about 4 miles northeast of my house, and it zoomed in on a residential home that wasn't mine.

But, I used the map given and using the N, S, E, W, directional arrows did go to my house and I'm amazed by the detail in the picture. I had my dh check it out too. We were able to determine that the satellite map is at least two years old, as the picture of our house showed 2 solar panels on our roof that we took down about 2 years ago. The detail was amazing, even showing our picnic table on the patio.

Sometimes it is scary what Big Brother's eyes in the sky sees and knows.

I found this at the following link explaining IP addys etc.

http://whatismyipaddress.com/staticpages/index.php/can-someone-find-me

SNIP:

Can someone find out who I am?
Possibly, but most likely not without a subpoena.
In most cases all that can be easily determined is who the person's ISP is and possibly the state and city the reside in. In some cases with static IP address DSL or business DSL services the ISP provides IP allocation records to the American Registry for Internet Numbers (http://www.arin.net), the non-profit organization responsible for managing Internet numbering resources in North America. As an example SBC used to include customer information in those allocation records, but due to privacy concerns now uses their own information with a customer reference number.
