No he didn't!! (pat Robertson, that is).

He gets crazier by the year. I'd swear it was senility, but he's been coming out with this nonsense for decades now! I think he's just what he appears to be: ignorant and hateful.

Oh, yes, he did. You can find it on You Tube.

Jesus weeps, I'm sure.

Linda, if I offended you, I apologize. I promise that was not my intent.

Of course I can't know whether Jesus literally weeps, but I feel certain He is appalled by many things that are said and done in His name. That was my only point. (Unless you prefer to think that Jesus is a metaphorical figure, in which case my remark is also metaphorical--but not sarcastic.)

I love ya Nova!

I'm an atheist:) and my comment was a lame attempt at funny sarcasm;)

I thought I remembered that, but in case I was wrong, I didn't want to make matters worse.

I honestly don't know whether Jesus existed or not. (The historical record of his time is curiously lacking any credible reference to him.)

But I'm not an atheist and whether Jesus was literal or metaphoric, it's all the same to me: He is a major example of God's presence on Earth. (For those of us who believe that sort of thing. LOL.)

Yay, bring it on, let them all marry!

Why should the straights be the only ones to suffer?

I believe everyone is entitled to the pre-divorce ceremony of their choice, regardless of gender.

:)

I appreciate and enjoy the joke.

But I want to add that I've spent almost 37 years with the best man on Earth! I could not be luckier, especially now that we are able to participate in some of the financial and legal benefits of being legally married.

(I was thinking out loud one time about how central "divorce" has become to our cultural rites of passage and how I felt a little alienated because I had never had that experience.

"And you never will," came the terse reply from my husband. What a guy!)

It's really a shame those benefits aren't retroactive.

I really took my time to find a mate & get married. Did it once, still very happy:).

I'm sure, after all these years, you too have chosen each other wisely;)

Linda, I was only 23 when we met, so it was at least partially dumb luck on my part.

But everyone should have such luck! I'm glad to hear you and your husband are so happy!

FTR, I do NOT think everyone has to pair up, but I wish nothing but the best for those who decide that is what they want.

So happy for my friends in NJ who have waited so long for this! America = Equality for All...too long in coming, IMO...still a ways to go to get to this ideal but every step is a triumph.

It's true the process is slow, but just a few years ago who among us could imagine legal gay marriage ANYWHERE in the US? It's now legal in nearly a third of the states.
