He was a quiet outsider. He was laughed at and was consistently the target of ridicule. Now the 27-year-old Simon S. * caused bitter tears and endless suffering: he is the gunman from Salez SG.

BLICK knows: The perpetrator lived in a village in Liechtenstein. He lived there for about three years as a lodger. The state police searched the apartment on Saturday . "As part of a mutual assistance for the Canton of St. Gallen," according to a spokesman.

Residents watched the house search. "The police were there for several hours and took pictures," one of them says. "Maybe they have found accelerant in the basement." Neighbours describe Simon S. as a loner. An acquaintance says: "He was a quiet, friendly guy. but I have a feeling that he had problems with himself. "

Neighbours describe him as tall and thin, a lanky man with glasses. He squinted. People made fun of him.

"He was actually a nice guy. But you could tell that he had been teased for a lifetime," according to the acquaintance. He describes him as a clever guy. But: "He had no friends. He was often alone " That's why the neighbours knew him only by sight.." He lived a very secluded life, never returned a greeting and often sat in the garden and read »

The amok runner was working part-time at an auto parts supplier in the region, where he had already completed his vocational training. He studied at the University of Applied Sciences in Buchs (NTB).

At home, he was obviously spinning his violent fantasies. Until he turned them into bloody reality on Saturday.

YOUNG GIRL OF 17 IN CRITICAL CONDITION

Almost nothing is known about the perpetrator and his motives

The 17 year young girl who was seriously injured in the attack on the passengers of a Saturday train to Salez (SG) is still in critical condition. The 6 year old girl and a 43 year old woman are out of danger.

The attack on Saturday in a train of Südostbahn (SOB) in Salt station killed two people, a woman of 34 years and the perpetrator aged 27. Five other people were injured, some seriously. The attacker set fire to a flammable liquid and attacked passengers with a knife.

A 6 year old girl, a girl aged 17 and a woman of 43 years are still in the hospital, Hanspeter Krusi, the spokesman of the St. Gallen Police, said on Monday. The girl of 17 is still in critical condition. The child and the woman in her forties areout of danger, doctors said.

Almost nothing is known about the perpetrator and his motives. The man was officially domiciled in a nearby Kanton. He also stayed in Liechtenstein, where police raided a house.

So far, the police was able to speak with one of the injured victims and with a man who helped the injured persons to get out of the train in Salez. Investigators have not yet been able to speak with the wounded who remain in hospital.

The woman of 34 years who died on Sunday has been identified as Janja S. from Croatia.
She was divorced and leaves behind an ex-husband and two children.
Apparently she is NOT the mother of the 6 year old girl who was wounded as well.

Janja S. did not know her attacker.
Her friend Jelena says: "I think she was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. It is so unfair. She was such a caring mother and such anice person."

:rose:

One very odd thing about the Swiss system that I have learned these days is their sense op privacy and the rules that go with it. The police won't tell the full name of the attacker. The press have all the info, but they keep silent about it and publish pictures of the murderer with distorted features.
The same applies to the victim. There is a picture of her on the website of the paper, she is one of two women and she is the one who can NOT be recognized. The other one, fully visible, is Jelena, the friend who gave the interview.
I had to look twice before I understood what was happening. I'd have expected that they would block out the friend since this is supposed to be a picture of the victim. But no, on the contrary. Very strange.

So this is friend and neighbour Jelena on the left:

MOTIVE: HE HATED WOMEN

BLICK.ch
http://www.blick.ch/news/schweiz/zug-amok-simon-s-27-tatmotiv-frauenhass-id5382424.html

What drove Simon S. to this madness? The BLICK investigation delivers disturbing answers.
Simon S. came from middle-class family. He grew up with a younger brother in the neighboring Canton in the village of Tuggen SZ.
"Simon was a loner as a child. He was always on his own," former school mates tell.
Simon squinted strongly and was bullied because of that. "They all laughed at him."

An eye surgery was too risky because of a nerve in the brain. The squint remains. Nevertheless, Simon S. definitely wants a girlfriend.
As soon as he fancies a woman, he starts writing her romantic love letters - even in calligraphy. But he only gets rejected. One after the other. "Unfortunately he never was attractive to women because he squinted so strongly," former schoolmates say.
To satisfy his needs the geek goes regularly to a brothel.

Simon S. gets into problems already in primary school, he has to repeat the 4th class. The boy comes from a musical family. The father, primary school teacher in the village, plays in a blues band and directs the church choir. The grandfather, also a teacher, is organist in the church.

Simon S. also makes music as a child. "He first played the piano, then cello. He liked that," according to his class mates. And he is fascinated by extraterrestrials. "He was an alien", they still say in the village.

After secondary school he goes to high school. In the final year an uproar happens. "He had problems with his history teacher. She was politically very left. He was rather right-conservative ", say former classmates. "His teacher did not accept his politics."

Simon S. utters threats against the teacher and the school. The police do a search in the parental home, they look for weapons. Simon S. owns a Glock knife, a combat knife of the Austrian Armed Forces. "He was marked from then on as a potential spree killer," they say in Tuggen. "He had everyone against him. All teachers, the entire school."
No one suspects that the suspicion might become bloody reality soon.

Simon S. cuts all his ties. He leaves the school without a certificate, doing an apprenticeship as an automation technician at a car parts supplier in Eschen in Liechtenstein - including vocational diploma. On the side, he was still studying Systems Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in Buchs SG.

Simon S. is still employed in part-time at his apprenticeship when he runs amok in train in Salez on Saturday.

Did he deliberately attack women In his madness? The police wants to continue to investigate the motive despite the death of the offender. Also, they want to rule out any possible accomplices.

His former classmates are convinced of his intentions: "After the scandal with his teacher at the high school, he hated all women.
He said that they were inferior. And less intelligent."

SWISS Info. ch

A spokesman for the St Gallen prosecutors’ office Roman Dobler said on Tuesday there was no indication that the 27-year-old Swiss man’s act was linked to any political or religious extremism. He said neither was there any sign that the perpetrator had any personal links to the victims.

The authorities are still trying to determine what may have prompted the vicious attack. Little information has been released on the identity of the man. The spokesman confirmed on Tuesday that the suspect was officially a resident of Tuggen in canton Schwyz but also had a residence at Eschen in Liechtenstein, which has been searched in conjunction with authorities there.

In that and other searches, authorities seized electronic devices, such as computers, hard drives and a mobile telephone, which are being analysed, Dobler said.

How and why do they exclude political or religious extremism if the computers, hard drives an mobile phone are still being analyzed?
Simon S may have been an isolated loner in real life, but that does not exclude a rich and varied on line presence at all.

In the meantime, the newspapers are depicting Simon S on the receiving end of terrible bullying. This gets so bad that you begin to wonder why the school and the parents did not interfere.
The school tells a story that differs from what the schoolfriends tell: Simon S was expelled because his grades were getting worse.

http://www.20min.ch/schweiz/news/story/23852050

"There were indications pointing at risks "
The Principal of the district school Ausserschwyz, Anna-Marie Kappeler, confirmed on inquiry that S. had to leave the school "because of performance reasons in January 2011"l. The school was concerned that S would not take this decision well and that it could lead to aggressive reactions. "Because we had evidence from different directions, that he posed a certain danger, we sought the help of the police for technical assistance," Kappeler says to 20Minuten. "Our concern was the protection of our students and teachers."

The Rector cannot confirm the bullying attacks on S. Nor do they have knowledge about a house search, says Kappeler. "We do not know how the police investigation evolved after our message."

In my opinion, it's a hate crime, which in it's own way is terrorism.
No, there may be no religious or political motive. But hating an entire gender for whatever reason to the point that you will attack and maim and kill people who have never done anything to you personally to make your point basically is terrorism, JMO.
This would not be the first man to act out his misogyny violently.

A seventeen year old girl is fighting for her life. Allegedly 75% of her skin has been burnt.
She is being kept in an artificial coma. Her chances of survival are minimal, only 1%.

Melissa B. appears to be an accidental victim. She wanted tot visit a colleague, otherwise she never took the train on that route.
She was just at the wrong time, wrong place, according to a friend.

Meanwhile, the six-year old girl is no longer in mortal danger and her mother (43) was able to leave the hospital.

Absolutely heartbreaking, that poor girl, so much pain- totally unfair and random. Glad the little girl and her mom are okay.
