Talk on the Net/Blogs/Round town about this case - NOT FACTS/RUMORS *merged*

Hi there. I think they would be bones....cold ocean water is a lot different than a Florida freshwater swamp.

I don't think anyone is making the messenger feel unwelcome, although I or anyone else could claim to be a searcher ... so I personally am a little cyncial when it comes to believing what I read online.

On the other hand, I'm not discounting this entirely. If TES found a body, I understand it would take a while to get DNA confirmation that it is Caylee (what maybe two weeks again?). I'm still not buying why they completely called off the search early. I live here and there is standing water, but I can't believe that they didn't search other areas while waiting for the water to recede.

I agree... the search being called off in the middle of the afternoon was VERY strange.... I tend to believe that there is a LOT going on behind the scenes right now... as we speak...

Some posters are wondering why would LE be looking by the college if a body was found during the TES search. If they did find a body, they would have to do DNA testing right? Those results probably aren't available yet, right? So, I would expect LE to continue to follow up on any leads. Right?

I would agree. Even if they found "something" there is no telling if it is specifically related to the case. You would be amazed at the unrelated things you may find when doing a broad search.

I will never forget the story my old Underwater Search and Recovery instructor told about his days with FDNY. One morning they were doing an underwater search drill off Sheepshead Bay. An area with alot of cars and debris. The search teams never did find the rescue dummy that had been planted there. They did however find 3 dead mobsters. By the end of the day the higher ups were chewing him a new one for; A. Losing a $2000 rescue dummy, and B. Not stopping after the first mobster was found.

does anybody have any other theories as to why the search was stopped before the day was over?

My theory is IF they did find something, TES was not going to be here when the family is told, maybe that would be too much to handle on Tim and his gang..especially after all that went on between him and the family..Maybe knowing that Casey is out of jail, there is no way he could have went there and told them something was found..

I think if they did find something they would probably continue searching until they knew for sure, but they would probably do it on a much smaller scale. Thats just speculation on my part im not really sure how it would work.

RasGirl26 you did a great job this morning. Remember that most people are questioning where the original info came from and not attacking you personally. Do not go on the defensive, and shy away from posting there is no need to. You have amazing eyes for something new at that time of the morning. Kudos girl.:blowkiss:

I agree with your thoughts. I did not see complete sadness on the faces of the searchers. I also saw some justification and triumph showing through their grief. Maybe it's just me but I think they found something important that day and getting out of the way quick so CSI could work was the best decision Tim and the Sheriff could make due to the family's current stance.

I'm glad RAS brought this info to us. Very interesting. Sounds like something could have been found. It could take awhile to identify what was found.

They would most likely still be trying to find out if it is in fact Caylee.

This would certainly make sense why the TES search was called off so abruptly and why some of the searchers were SO visibly shaken.

Time will tell.....

And, remember that one of the searchers cold not get back from HQ to his position, because the area had been taped off.

More from Justice

Ras,
I understand, you do not know me and I do not know you.
I have no motive to invent such a story. I have bug bites and a nasty sunburn to show I was on the search. LOL
Yes, on one hand I hope and pray that what we found is Caylee because this baby deserves to be found, but on the other hand I hope and pray that it wasn't, because I would like to believe there is a chance this baby will be found alive.
Regardless, why would I come here to make something like that up?

Well, I appreciate it! I will take my hope anywhere I can get it.

It may be true, it may not be true. But, the fact is, that's what we suspected on Sunday, when the search was called off early, on a bright and sunny day.

That would explain the searchers tears. It would also explain why Tim pulled up stakes and left so quickly (Done, here! More work to do elsewhere!)

I was in a search and our team actually did find the missing person's body. Police came immediately - taped off the area - but they would not let anyone in my group leave until they had pictures of the bottom of our shoes. (evidence). In this case they probably didn't realize anything of value was found before everyone started leaving.

Thanks for bringing us this information RAS. I went to bed last night and my sister told me about your thread today. Interesting information when you put it all together whether or not it pertains to this case. If not maybe another case will be solved. Please continue to post.

It just doesn't make sense that only a few days after LE gave Tim money, planes, boats, mounted LE officials and more that the search would abruptly end. The excuse of waiting until the water recedes doesn't make sense either because there are far more dry places that could have been searched.

Pluse only days earlier TES was begging for more volunteers to help search. They wouldn't have done that unless there were areas that COULD safely be searched.

Does anyone know whether Equusearch, specifically Tim Miller and/or members of the Command team (sorry don't know what to call them) are still on the ground in Orlando or have the gone elsewhere...I recall someone in one of these threads saying they were continuing water searches etc.

Sorry if it's been covered before. TIA

Great point. Money talks. No way would OCSO donate all that money and resources just to watch TES pack up and leave. And TES is way too reputable an organization to take the money and resources and then pack up and leave.

In my opinion, they've definitely found something. And I agree with the poster above about the search continuing because there may be other evidence tied to the case that they know is out there, due to a tip.

Ditto!!! I ended up staying on here reading way past the point where my tired eyes were blurred and crossed! I didn't have a problem with the thread title because of all the ?s -- but I believe RAS would have changed it if she could have. But since the edit option is only available for a brief time that wasn't possible.

I also agree it would take time to identify what/who may have been found and I wouldn't expect LE to say ANYTHING unless/until they have absolute and irrefutable proof.

That said with the bones that were found during the searches, I've wondered if the flooding unearthed buried remains - esp, but not only, those that had been in shallow graves? Could this also help explain any possible smell from remains that had been buried for awhile? (re the unearthing of remains, I clearly remember videos of human caskets floating down streets after hurricane Floyd flooded parts of North Carolina).

RAZ - I wouldn't let the criticism get to you. This case seems to bring out the best and the worst in people due to strong emotions. It seems to depend on the day or the moment on whether or not one will be jumped on for saying something - and it doesn't seem to matter much what that something is. Just my observation and opinion.

I have no idea if they found her or not and am trying to be patient, but as far as discovery goes, they need to sit on those charges until it is air tight. No time limit on murder. They will have to do DNA to identify. Until they have DNA and know for sure that it is Caylee, they can't do anything for two reasons. First, when they charge they do have to hand over anything they plan to use in court and anything that could clear her. Until they charge her, they don't have to tell what they have.

Second, once they charge her the clock starts ticking. Baez will invoke speedy trial to give the LE less time to tie up loose ends. They need to tie them up first. I hate being patient, but I am trying to be for the sake of justice for Caylee. It's driving me crazy waiting tho!!

Exactly. I appreciate the sleuthing and sharing by RAS. I do tend to believe this info only because I also thought the searchers responses when Tim Miller abruptedly stopped searching was more than just sad. They were impacted by something tragic, or so it seemed to me.

As others have mentioned, keep in mind that it took almost 3 months before LE arrested Scott Peterson, and they were rewarded for their patience with the verdict they had hoped to achieve. LE needs the time to ID any body they find through DNA. Once they have tied up the loose ends and made a solid case they will start the murder charge "timer" by arresting KC.

<<Yeah, it's the gators I'm worried about. I think it's a huge possibility that there is nothing left of Caylee>>

I heard alligators will only eat something that's alive.

I wonder if this is why JB filed his little motion today to keep LE from doing any further testing of evidence? Because he wants to help select the labs...OR he thinks that perhaps something WAS found and he in no way wants them testing THAT???

When Tim Miller made the announcement that the TES search was being temporarily called off due to ground conditions, there was a tremendous amount of speculation on this forum in regards to the reasons behind calling off the search just then.

Many here wondered if something had been found and have anxiously awaited some sort of news.

But, if something had been found Sunday, I think there would have been an announcement by now. It only takes a matter of hours to compare DNA or dental records.

I would have expected an announcement by late Monday or early Tuesday. Yet, there's been nothing.

As much as we all would like to see the merry-go-round stop and to have closure, we shouldn't get our expectations up, especially when the source of the information is hearsay from a community blog.

My thought is maybe they are getting the DNA/positive id and then going before the Grand Jury to get an indictment. I am not that familiar with Florida law, but, in some states one prefers the GJ as opposed to arresting and then going the Preliminary Hearing route as they tip more of their hand in the PH and give the defense more information earlier. They still have to turn over discovery eventually but the GJ route gives the Prosecutor more time.

Interesting...there was a lady (Lorraine?) who was on the news for going through the Anthony's garbage that they had put out for pickup. There was a ballcap in the garbage - I wonder she had two that had the same logo or whatever?

Maybe her and the friend had matching ball caps and the friend sent or gave KC hers just as a "I know you did it" , maybe she was on the search team? or somehow knows KC no longer has hers and put 2 and 2 together?? Just thinking...
