Can someone make sense of the route she took, following the info about Condamine? I am still puzzled.

Petrol station in Condamine - no time indicated

Channel 9 video had “9:20am” written on the screen for the Condamine petrol station footage. (Almost illegible due to the colours used)

I got out my calculator and reverse engineered the “9000 square kilometres” - that’s equivalent to a circle with radius ~ 53 kilometres.

So — depending where in Yuleba south that tower is located, it *could* mean the phone was located north east of Surat or south or west or *in any* direction.

I just wanted to summarise what I have found out about this case. Hopefully this helps to collate some of the details. If there are any errors, please let me know.

Physical description

Tayla Spies was 28 years old when she was last seen on Sunday 2/2/25. She is of Caucasian appearance, approx. 170cm tall, slim build with blue eyes and brown shoulder-length hair with a tattoo on her chest that says “KARMA”.[1] Tayla would now be 29. [2]

Vehicle description

Tayla was last seen driving a white 2017 Toyota Dual Cab Hilux, QLD commercial registration 559GJ7. The vehicle has a “distinctive black bumper” and “blacked out wheels”[3]. This registration expires on 16/3/25.

Sunday 2/2/25 Timeline

8:08 am: Tayla appears on CCTV footage outside the Windsor Hotel, Dalby.[4] She is wearing what is described as a fluorescent pink long sleeve shirt with light coloured shorts. Tayla walks from her car, off camera, then returns (after being out of frame for approx. 4 seconds), carrying a large red bag. The bag appears heavy and/or awkward to carry.

It was reported that she spent the weekend in Dalby with her partner, checking out of the hotel on Sunday morning and leaving in separate cars.[5]

9:20 am: Tayla appears on CCTV footage refuelling at the BP Truckstop on Wambo St, Condamine.[6] Tayla appears wearing the same clothing as in the Windsor Hotel CCTV.

11:10 am: Tayla’s car is seen driving down Burrowes St and turns on Cordelia St in Surat, heading towards the Carnarvon Hwy (A55) towards St George which is in the opposite direction to Roma.[7]

It was reported that Tayla met with friends just north of Surat and then her partner afterwards, and that the car CCTV was captured after this.[8]

12:13 pm: Tayla’s phone pings a phone tower north-east of Surat (Yuleba South).[9]

It was reported that Tayla ended up changing on Sunday afternoon into a white shirt which had purple writing, and was carrying a Mimco shoulder bag.[10]

On 7/2/25, police reported that Tayla was last seen travelling on the Carnarvon Hwy (A55), “just south of the Condamine turnoff heading towards Roma (north) between the hours of 10am and 1pm”.[11] I cannot find any instance of this detail being reported again.

Other Reported Details

• Not making contact with her children was, according to police, “out of character”[12]. She is a mother of three.[13] Police believe that if something happened to Tayla in her vehicle that police would have been notified by now.[14]
• Tayla lives in Roma and intended on returning after being in Dalby over the weekend.[15]
• Police have been monitoring Tayla’s phone and bank accounts and they have not been touched.[16] Police are greatly concerned by this.[17]
• Tayla was a wedding/event planner but her last business post was in 2023. It is reported that her social media content indicated her life had not been easy recently; however, she had been in Surat recently looking for employment.[18]
• The map shown in the A Current Affair episode shows her driving north-west from Dalby then south to Condamine, then South again and west to Surat.[19] This is an unusual/time-consuming route and I wonder if it is an accurate depiction.
• The area in which Tayla has gone missing contains many dirt roads, stock routes, scrub and state forests. Tayla liked to camp and would occasionally go “off grid” but never for as long as she has now been missing. Family have searched her favourite places.[20]
• The tower where Tayla’s phone pinged could capture the Surat Development Road.[21]
• Tayla placed flowers at the site of her father’s road accident (27/2/25) every year on the anniversary of his death so the family placed cameras at the site to see if she visited the site. She did not. The site is on a remote road west of Cecil Plains, QLD.[22]

Searches and Appeals

• On 13/2/25, it was reported that police had conducted aerial searches of the area and made an appeal for footage to anyone who had travelled between Dalby, Surat and their surrounds, between 10:30 am and 12:30pm.[23]
• On 3/3/25, police stated they were looking at a 9000 square kilometre area which included Yuleba, Wullambilla South, Roma, Teelba, Surat, Glenmorgan and Meandarra, and also made an appeal to property owners in this area to check their properties.[24]

I'm jumping in late to this case, but I believe her boyfriend was the last to see her alive, is this right? And they were meant to be travelling separately to their/his/her home? If so, where and when was his car seen along the route? Was it a long distance, and would have had to fuel up?

So Tayla met with friends and then the partner AFTER leaving Surat?
I thought she met them all IN Surat.

Where did they meet and when did she change her clothing because there’s a tinge of pink in the car shot in Surat.

Screenshot is of Tayla’s sister also mentioning the pink shirt being visible in the car window in Surat (source Tiktok). So when did Tayla get changed and why?

Here's my theory after having an ear out... no offense intended...

Firstly... the solid evidence, why whould you go through condy to get to surat from dalby, then go on to roma?? It's a long long way around... the video evidence shows she was seen fueling up in condy, then made it on time to surat where she "met with friends", turning to go south of surat, and her phone pings 1 hour east of surat.

This is my theory. So could it be possible Tayla was doing some "deliveries" for "somebody she knows", hence the big bag, the stay in a motel in dalby with her "partner" when he lives in dalby. She drove out to the reserve to meet with "friends" ... possibly customers. The sale went wrong. They whacked her or similar and put her in the back of her ute. They then head north towards roma in her ute. They take the yuleba-surat road. There's no phone service along there. They get to yuleba creek (1 hour east of surat) where there's suddenly enough service to make a sketchy phone call and suddenly messages come through on her phone. They hear it and themselves and chuck the phone out the window. They then travel along the condy hwy, where you might be lucky to pass 2 vehicles, take yullibilla then head down riverglen to avoid the bridge cameras at condy, back through to tara/kumbarilla/wieambilla area, where as we know, bad things happen. And there's plenty of places to disappear a ute there... hence why nobody has found her or the ute...

My theory is driving me mad because there's no way of knowing if it's right or wrong...

This site says the closest tower to Yuleba South is:

There’s a few telcom towers near Surat and at least 8 in Roma, and at least one in Yuleba itself.

From what we’re told, Tayla’s phone pinged off Yuleba South though and not Surat, Roma. ot Yuleba.

Is this the gist of it?

Tayla stayed at the Windsor motel in Dalby with her partner.

When leaving the motel, Tayla carried a big bag to her car. (on cctv)

Tayla and her partner left Dalby in separate cars and headed for their home in Roma.

Tayla stopped for fuel in Condamine (on cctv).

Tayla arrived in Surat and met up with friends, and then caught up with her partner again.

Tayla left Surat and appeared to turn left or southwards, instead of taking the expected right turn and heading north to Roma.

Tayla’s phone pinged off the Yuleba telcom tower an hour after she left Surat. That tower range covers 9000 sq kms in all directions so Tayla’s location was somewhere within that vast area.

Tayla’s partner reported her missing the next morning as she did not arrive home in Roma.

There is also a police report given to them by witnesses on the day Tayla went missing whereby 2 cars described as the same make as Taylas were seen near a lake in the general area and that a man described as similar to TN was walking along the road near where these 2 vehicles were seen. There is also documented evidence that TN was trying the sell a trailbike on marketplace 2 days after Tayla went missing and when it was discussed online, it was removed by TN.

This!!
She was known to have met up with friends AND THEN met up with her partner north of Surat, after driving from the petrol station.
Her ute is then seen (note, you cannot see who is driving the ute!) in CCTV footage heading in the opposite direction to Roma. So she was last seen by her partner, let's make that clear.
Her partner's social media gives me the creeps too, so many pictures of violently murdered animals.

She was there for Thursday and TN arrived on the Friday Night. Tayla and her family lived there previously. Her sister has said she was there to see friends

The family statement seemed notable in that the boyfriend wasn’t there. Maybe the family just isn’t close to him, or they had little/nothing to do with him, but being her partner you’d kind of expect he’d be putting out his own plea.

Of course we don’t really know the dynamic of their relationship, nor his dynamic with her family, but I’d imagine if he’s the last person to be seen in her company, the family would have their own suspicions of him (as LE probably do too…..)
Perhaps rather intentional to leave him out of the statement.
All imo.

TN arrived into Dalby on the Friday - Tayla arrived on the Thursday for the weekend.
The last time they met up was Sunday afternoon. He called the police on Monday.

Is this the Lake Broadwater report? If so, isn’t Lake Broadwater 2.5 hours drive away, nearer to Dalby?!
