Major TCM fan here :) Today (Tuesday) TCM pays tribute to stars who didn't have their own memorial tribute with multiple movies shown on a particular day.

In Memoriam - 12/17

The movie industry lost many beloved and talented performers and filmmakers during 2019, and we at TCM want to remember some who were not previously honored with a representative film...

I don’t understand the song they chose for this tribute.

It seems aggressive and weird to me.

I think it's projecting the urgency of missing someone. The people in film who passed have left art/work that's indelible, and leaves lasting impressions on fans. Sometimes that makes it feel as if they haven't really gone. We see their films and want them to come back.

For many of us, those in the video are actors, etc. we grew up with (Doris Day, Peter Fonda, Tim Conway, etc). Even though they were out of the limelight in recent years, it still feels like they're still out there.

Hope that makes sense.

TCM has been using more contemporary musicians and singers in their videos and promo spots probably because they want to attract young viewers to classic movies.
