I was just making a point that it's odd that in certain stares it wouldn't be a crime. IIRC, some states are 16.

The age of consent does vary in different states, the youngest age of consent seems to be age 14.

Powers told ABC's Good Morning America today that she has moved out of Hooker's apartment.

That used to be the age of consent in Japan, too (they changed it to 18 there).

When I was around her age, I was in a relationship with a much older man too. Looking back, I was searching for a father figure like I believe most if not all young girls who go with much older men are looking for. Needless to say, I learnt a lot about myself but it didn't work out. We are growing so much at that time and a man that age will only stunt that growth. They are usually finished growing mentally and emotionally and very set in their ways.

As for Miss 18 - no sympathy from me. She was told by many important influences, (Mother, friends) that this was not good and she went and did it anyway. I understand angst - but this is a life lesson learned - you play you pay. Lets hope she's not pregnant.

Glad this has come out now, and not a year or two down the road after this young woman has compounded her problem by bearing this perv a couple of kids.

Sometimes one has to experience life to learn the hard lessons.

This is an 18 year old whose father died when she was very young. This girl was most likely looking for a father figure she was lacking in her life. In comes the older guy in position of authority that gives her attention.

She's barely an adult and was likely groomed by the guy. She's a victim. She certainly gets sympathy from me, from what we've learned about her in this thread.
