How sad that King County lost Janice and Denice Naslund’s remains. It was good to hear from Janice’s sister. I hope it makes her feel better to know many of us still remember Janice, Denise and Bundy’s other victims. Their faces are familiar. Such terrifying murders of bright, kind young women who had so much of their lives yet to live.

Well, Ted Bundy murdered at least 30 women in the 1970s, but where exactly did this come from?
Of course, you might say he was a psychopath. I do not deny that (I do not know if there were any tests), so I say it is fairly possible that he murdered far more than 30. Investigators estimate that he could have murdered 100.
I have scoured the Internet for missing and murder cases. Some are on the East Coast due to relations to Vermont. Now, some of these are extremely unlikely to have been committed by Bundy, but I will put ALL POSSIBLE CASES out there.
I got all the missing from NamUs, the rest from other sites.

Susan Davis, l, and Elizabeth Perry. A 54-year-old cold case murder outside Ocean City, N.J. may be linked to serial killer Ted Bundy, living in Lafayette Hill then.

The victims were Susan Davis and Elizabeth Perry, both 19, who spent Memorial Day 1969 in Ocean City, New Jersey.''

How about Valerie Percy for a Bundy murder? His style

I don't think so. That was in 1966. Bundy graduated from high school in Washington in 1965, and lived in Puget Sound area, going to community College. He didn't have the connections, or money to travel to Chicago, or even get into the area where the Percy's lived, Kenilworth, notices people who "don't belong".

I am convinced that the Percy's knew who killed Valerie. And that is why nothing has gone further with the case with DNA science.

I've thought the same, too. JMO. A young woman killed by an intruder, in her own bed in a house full of other family members and family dogs. According to the doctor next door who was called, the scene was somewhat staged with bedding pulled up over her chest.

They experienced terrible, lifelong grief, but the family left town for a private retreat shortly after the murder. Some felt they should have stayed to help LE with the investigation.

All files about the investigation have since been sealed from the public and news media. No testing of possible DNA evidence, etc.

Today, LE might have looked more closely at the people and events surrounding Valerie's untimely death.

I think he had more child victims (prepubescent I mean). He was very sexually deviant with his girlfriend's daughter and killed two 12 year Olds.

It's finally been confirmed:

SPANISH FORK, Utah (KUTV) — The death of a Lehi teen has been definitely connected to the infamous serial killer Ted Bundy, the Utah County Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday.

Laura Ann Aime was 17 when she first went missing on Halloween night in 1974. Her body was found by hikers less than a month later, undressed and in an embankment near American Fork Canyon Road.

I wonder with these recent developments in DNA testing… maybe the evidence from Anne Marie Burr’s case can be retested. IIRC, the evidence recovered from Burr’s case was tested against Bundy’s DNA in 2011 but the results were inconclusive.

I know everyone is split on whether he’s involved or not in the case but it would be nice to use DNA to conclusively rule him out in that case.

I’m glad Laura’s family has conclusive proof that their daughter’s killer was truly caught. I hope the other families of Bundy’s victims someday get the same.

Laura Ann Aime, 17, vanished on Halloween night 51 years ago after leaving a party alone to go to a convenience store.

About a month later, her naked body was found on the side of a highway, bound and beaten.

Investigators long suspected that Bundy was responsible. Police said he verbally acknowledged his culpability leading up to his execution.

But the case remained open until they could be sure.

Bundy was one of the nation’s most prolific serial killers, with at least 30 women and girls’ deaths linked to him in several states in the 1970s. His murders, which occurred in sorority houses, parks and elsewhere, set the nation on edge
Ted Bundy victim tally grows as DNA test links him to unsolved murder

Laura Ann Aime

UCSO Press Release

On the evening of October 31, 1974, 17-year-old Laura Ann Aime (Laura) was last seen leaving a Halloween party in Utah County. Witnesses claim she left alone and wanted to purchase some items from a convenience store. On November 27, 1974, Thanksgiving, her lifeless body was found tossed several feet from the highway, near State Road 92 in the American Fork Canyon. Her body was discovered by two college students on a hike in the canyon. Her body was observed to be bound, severely beaten, and with no clothing. Deputies also discovered that a nylon stocking was utilized to strangle Aime and ultimately a major contributor to her death.

Prior investigations support that Laura’s body was recently placed in relation to its discovery, suggesting that Laura was kept alive for several days or more after her abduction. Case evidence similarities indicated that the manner of abuse and the likely cause of death was comparable to the modus operandi of Theodore “Ted” Bundy (Bundy). Other victims were believed and known to have been discarded in Northern Utah and throughout the Western United States, including Florida where he was apprehended, tried, and incarcerated. Bundy was believed to have acted alone and shared mental traits associated with a psychopathic serial killer who may have killed more than twenty people of various ages and gender. Bundy was known to utilize all types of ruses and tactics to lure in his victims. Although Bundy had a desired common physical female preference and attraction, he ultimately killed viciously and indiscriminately to please his desires. He was executed in Florida on January 24, 1989.

In the days and hours leading to his execution, Bundy, verbally acknowledged his culpability in the death/disappearance of Laura and others. However, Bundy would not elaborate or give any detail to his actual involvement with the deaths or abductions of the women. At the time of his admission, the Utah County Sheriff’s Department and Utah County Attorney’s Office both declined to accept Bundy’s verbal accountability for Laura’s homicide, as the open Utah County case was unable to satisfactorily convict Bundy based upon the evidence in possession and with the available investigative sciences for the time. The Sheriff’s Department elected to keep this case open until investigators could prove, without a shadow of doubt, that Bundy was the composer of these heinous crimes to Laura. In addition, other leads indicating additional suspects have also been considered.

Laura is remembered by her family and friends to be a tall, beautiful, outgoing free spirit who enjoyed outdoor activities and shared a passion for riding horses, hunting, and caring for her several siblings. Her family said that Laura was one who found joy in everything she did, making the most of her time with her family. Laura’s younger siblings told stories of her abundant compassion and warmth for her family. An example is when Laura spent personal funds to buy candy for her brother and sister’s because she enjoyed watching the happiness in the eyes of her siblings getting something sweet.

From the second article…

“The state crime lab got new technology in 2023 that allows investigators to extract DNA from samples even if they are small, degraded from age or contain DNA from multiple people, he said. That technology allowed them to identify a single male DNA profile, which they submitted to a national law enforcement database.

Bundy’s DNA was a match, Mason said.

That profile can now be used by other law enforcement agencies who have long suspected Bundy of additional unsolved killings, he said, adding that more families could get similar closure.” (bolded by me)

Does this mean we didn’t have a DNA profile for Bundy prior to this??

Ted Bundy's DNA profile did exist and was entered into the national database (CODIS) in 2011, derived from samples taken during his 1978 Florida prosecution. However, 2023 forensic breakthroughs allowed Utah investigators to test old evidence with new techniques, creating a fresh profile (the newer profile definitively linked Bundy to the 1974 murder of 17-year-old Laura Ann Aime).

He did mention this victim in his interviews just prior to his execution, but, IIRC, he couldn't recall the details of where she was buried. He was dumping victims in that general area outside of Salt Lake City. There's a partial transcript of this interview at this link:
