[font=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica]A Valley Stream teenager was on her way to visit a makeshift memorial for a friend who died in a car crash, when she reached an intersection a block from where her friend was killed -- and another driver crashed into her car and died.
Nassau police said Jose A. Menendez, 38, was driving his 1993 GMC 2500 pickup truck westbound on Peninsula Boulevard around 10 p.m. Wednesday when he ran a red light at Gordon Road and struck the 2003 Nissan Pathfinder driven by Brittany Ross, 18.
[/font][font=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica] Police took Menendez, of Far Rockaway, to Franklin Hospital Medical Center in Valley Stream, where he was pronounced dead. Police said he had suffered massive trauma.
Ross, who was uninjured, declined to comment yesterday.
