Tempo Restaurant: What Happened There?

  • #441
The restaurant owner said from receipts it shows he bought two beers.... seems odd. If she was outside, then why buy two beers ( it's after midnight ,so no to-go sales allowed) - did he take them outside or did Hannah come in ? I don't picture him sitting inside drinking while she is out on the mall.
Would the door person allow someone to carry out 2 beers? Could JM hide 2 bottles (assuming the beers were bottled) on his body? One other thing , this guy was charging his drinks at Tempo and I would guess he had no cash on him all night. Is there a money trail of other places he was at that night? Was there any sightings of where his car was parked? Was Tempos door person standing inside or outside the establishment?

Is it possible that WG was himself intoxicated and that explains all the discrepancies in his story? He did wait a couple of days before showing up at the police station after calling in multiple times.

Plus it's been discussed and documented how unreliable eyewitness testimony can be at times..I was out late last night, had a few drinks and I couldn't tell you all of my friends that were with me much less the any number of other people that were around and I sure as hell couldn't describe exactly what they looked like..it's easy now to look back after watching video fifty times and dissecting the situation and say how the hell did this guy see that description when it was clearly not so but when you're in the moment it's totally different..

I did not know this. So a switched off phone can ping and the only way to stop this is to remove the battery. Then if Hannah's phone pings were lost before 1:45 am then JM would have had to take her phone while still in or around Tempo and remove the battery.
I dont have an iPhone but my Motorola RAZR doesn't have a removable battery

One thing about WG and JM in the video I keep wondering- how did JM get from the back of the group, pass them, then pass WG to get to Hannah's side by the time the Huel's video starts 2 minutes later- and wouldn't that have looked strange to everyone?
Strange is how does that happen and WG gets description wrong when he is following her specifically because she's in"distress"? BTW is "distress" the new code word for being wasted as I've seen it used in another story?

Are bottled beers $7.00? I don't even pay attention, but that seems high doesn't it? Maybe he bought two shots for $7 each?

The report I read said he bought two beers to go. Whether they drank them right there or not was not clear. The report I read, the official one that Tempo set out, said that Hannah did NOT come into the restaraunt and the woman, "Abby" who was interviewed said the same, that Hannah waited for JM outside the restaraunt. He bought something and brought it out, but it was not Tempo or LE that said it was two beers, but some other source that I can't find--someone interviewed. Don't know if anyone can prove JM gave her anything--she was already quite intoxicated from reports. After all the walking and running, she was probably also fatigued , physically and mentally.

From that article:

Cunningham said that Matthew left the bar briefly and returned just after 1 a.m., closed a tab for two beers at 1:10 a.m. and then left sometime after that.

Did Hannah have a iPhone 5S? If so, getting the battery out is not that easy. You need a non-standard screwdriver to get to it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQqPm3LmwV4

I don't know when signals from her phone stopped, but would think it easier to smash the phone up than try and remove the battery.

But if WG was concerned for Hannah's safety, seems like he would notice what the guy who she met up with (but we know JM came from behind WG) looked like. Shaved head is total opposite of dreads imo

Not necessarily charging his drinks. He could have been using a debit card. Restaurants make no distinction between the two, unlike gas stations.

The difference being he specifically followed her because of her obvious physical condition so his focus was all on her and what was going on with her. This wasn't a random sighting.

Speaks to his state of mind IMO. If he had planned on sticking around for awhile (which is why the door persons story seems odd) then he would have kept a tab open. Him buying 2 drinks and then closing out immediately tells me had somewhere to go.

Something else I should add about why I think Tempo is so important.

Tempo is extremely close to the the parking lots on Water St. (There is a garage but also a street level lot.) So if someone was interested in hustling someone into a car, Tempo would be an ideal place to lure them before getting them into a car. Just about a half of block walk.

It was the owner who gave the statements, so he would know. Yes that's pricey but isn't it a upscale place or one that's trying to be?

What I can't get over is the idea that WG thought everything was okay since JM put his arm around HG. I don't know about you, but if saw a guy that looked like that approach someone like HG, I would be very worried about her.

I'm really kind of leaning towards midgec's suggestion that perhaps Hannah asked JM to go and look for someone in Tempo. She was downtown for a reason, walking with purpose, she'd tried another bar already I think. Was it O'gradys or McGradeys and IIRC she didn't get in there for some reason. So maybe when JM approached her she could have been heading to Tempo to check there but was worried she couldn't get in and he offered to check for her. Could have brought her a drink out and offered to check other places with her or just to bring her home. JMO

Forgive my ignorance, but what does bbm mean? :blushing:

bbm=Bolded By Me

(usually when someone bolds something that they are quoting that they want to reply to)

The strange thing is that he is not worried about being seen with her.

It seems difficult to believe he planned on raping and killing her.

I think something went really wrong. It is so hard to believe he would be so brazen

Closed a tab for two beers. Does that mean he returned to pay the tab and didn't buy anything else or did he open a tab when he returned the second time bought 2 beers then paid the tab and left? I think when you use a credit card you automatically open a tab, anyone?

FWIW, I think it's possible that WG was correct and that there was, in fact BG with a shaved head and dark clothes but that he was not in the video, he backs off and JM comes racing up on the inside, passing the other group after WG went on his way. BG may simply have backed off or struck out too IMO.

May be far off but without other information he is a helpful concerned citizen at this point.
