This to me is the most plausible.. Tho am not sure it would be suggested by her atty, but who knows? Alls I know is that it is so very disheartening to know that instead of cooperating she is out there playing coy with cat and mouse games with these investigators.. Of course they are going to find out she is being watched 24/7 so when its seen on several occassions that shes talking on a cell phone, they are going to investigate to find out where the phone came from, whose name its listed under, etc... Wasted time that shouldve been spent on Kyron...

In many divorces atty's will tell a client to get a throw away phone or a new phone so their spouse cannot spy on them. Many times the atty wants to contact their client without fear of someone listening to their conversations.

IMO this is very poor reporting. This is something that I have expected to hear since she retained her lawyer. In fact, I would have been surprised to learn that she did not have a new cell phone or a throw away phone. IMO this just means that her lawyer's are doing their job.

Terri and her friends blow me away with their audacity! If I were being investigated for a crime of which I was innocent, I would NOT do ANYTHING that may even be seen as shady or sneaky! My life would be an open book to 1) find a missing child and 2) try to exonerate myself. What is wrong with these people!?!?

I'm not surprised by Terri and her friends getting new phones, but it's the last thing they should be doing as it calls attention to themselves and adds another layer of suspicion to an already long list of suspicious behavior.

Not only can a phone be taken over remotely, the phones can be reprogrammed, remotely, to look like they are still off. So yes, with proper access one could take pictures from another phone, place pics in the phone, alter anything stored in the phone, and turn the phone into a live mic. Oh and use it as a tracking device. Highly concerned/paranoid people take the batteries out of their phones whenever they don't want to be monitored. And of course the Gov't solves the problem by simply not allowing people to bring phones in to classified areas.
Remember, phones are powerful computers with their own built-in radios. And the phone companies designed them (OK, had them designed) for the company's benefit, not the privacy of the user.

I asked my son a few weeks ago if a phone could be hacked. He showed me an App on his phone that he downloaded called Super Bluetooth Hack and he had complete control of my phone. I was alarmed to say the least. There are a lot of Apps on the world wide internet that can and do hack and impede your privacy. YIKES

So in other words - it's entirely possible that TH did NOT send the naughty photos to her husband's friend...

If she had the photos on the phone (where perhaps she had been exchanging them with her husband), someone who wanted to make her look bad could have accessed TH's phone and sent them to Cook.

Well, now we know why TH's friends have been under the microscope. It shocks me that here she has a missing child (*basically) and she feels the need to have a bat phone? And, she obviously wanted it kept very secret or she would have got it herself.

One question, though, does LE have this phone? The records? My, my, those could be interesting!

This reminds me of the Caylee Anthony Case. Before 2-year-old Caylee's remains were found, and while her mother was out of jail on bond (and after) the family resorted to using bat phones to fly under the radar of the police.

With regards to the "new phone" or better yet the "new" info we now have of the "phone" (prob a bit more accurrate as I am quite sure this is not "new" info to LE working Kyron's case)..

A couple questions. If this a regular cell(meaning one that is a legitimate phone[gotten with someones legitimate info]and NOT a pre-paid, go-phone, trac-fone,etc. etc. type phone) If it is a "regular" type cell phone, would LE just not simply request/receive a warrant for this phone, records, etc? Just as I am fairly confident has been done with hundreds of other potential evidence thus far in Kyron's case?

Someone up-thread mentioned since this was not Kaine Horman's phone(or a phone line on his family plan, as is assumed was the phone Terri originally had)that since Kaine would not be able to just give permission to LE as he assumingly did with her original phone. That because of this LE would NOT be able to receive a warrant to seize the info of the "new" phone without probable cause(not exact quote from up-thread paraphrased by me)...

Of course LE has "cause" to receive a warrant with regards to the "new" phone. IMO PDX(thanks to Mrs. Facetious in the wee hrs this morning rewarding me with my cookie, I am now proudly referring to Portland=PDX)PDX government is not allowing their funds, resources, time, etc without there being "cause" and I am referring to the GJ proceedings that are taking place...

So that known would I not be correct in assuming that it would not be a prob/issue for LE to simply get a warrant concerning the "new" phone?

That's easy She wanted some privacy. I can understand not wanting to talk on a bugged phone, even if one is innocent, so I'm sure that's what the rationale will be.

grrrr...even if LE was on to this, there would be no way they could get the content of her conversations.

I doubt the phone is bugged, fwiw-it is the cell phone records and ping records she is avoiding I suspect.

LE should be able to figure out who it was and then subpoena THEIR records...hope they arent into anything squirrelly because it is going to come back to bite them....:croc:

Isn't DeDe's father a law enforcement officer? After giving this some thought, I now think it may have been him who advised the ladies to get new phones. Especially after the supposed sexting came to light. Fearful what his own daughter may soon be accused of.

This is not even a possibility... Yes there are all kinds of hackware, hack gear, etc all over this forsaken world wide web. Some works, some half-azz works, MOST is BS.. But ALL is traceable by LE/FBI technology with regards to electronic communication... Those "hacky" "trick" apps and such are nothing but childsplay for LE/FBI... So please don't anyone think "seriously" this is what was happening on Terri's phone, and might I remind MC fully ADMITTED to the inappropriate sexting, graphic sexual activity[<-depiction of], etc that he took part in with Terri...

This type of story will keep the pot stirred against her and continue to taint any possible jury in the state of Oregon, in my opinion.
I guess I just hope that all of this negative info coming up does not make it impossible for a jury to be eventually seated or worse, result in a mistrial no matter if Terri is guilty or not....

Going by what I have read on multiple boards, forums, blogs, social media sites, and MSM comments sections, I think TH appears to have her fair share of supporters, as well as neutral parties, who feel she has been unfairly focused on. I have faith that Oregonians can provide a fair trial, as much as any other state at this point.
Then again, depending on when/if Kyron is ever found, and the circumstances surrounding that eventuality, things could change.

I would think LE would have told KH not to take Terri off their phone plan and keep paying for her phone so they could keep tabs on her. It sounds like she knew they'd be keeping tabs on her and thought a new phone would allow her to skirt detection.

This comes as no surprise to me. Nor do I see it as an indication of guilt or innocence. In all honesty, if I were falsely accused of a crime and had told LE all that I knew, yet suspected that they were still eavesdropping on my private conversations, I'd be buying bat phones, too.

On the other hand, it does tell us that if she and/or her friend(s) were savvy enough to buy a bat phone after the crime, she could've owned one prior to. But that's not much of a surprise, either. My big question is which friend? The article implies, albeit subtly, that DeDe purchased the phones. (The way I read it.) Whether it's DeDe or not, I wonder if the friend bought one for herself, as well.

My impression is that Terri is street smart but not smart in general. In other words, she's street smart in knowing how to walk the fine line between legal and illegal without getting caught. But in general, she's not really that smart because she's left behind a trail of suspicious behavior.

complete control of your phone? omg! I bought 3 trac phones for Christmas presents and sent them to South Dakota, from here in Fl. The phones could not be used according to Dollar General. The phones had to be sent to the trac phone co for new phones for SD. $10 a piece for 250 minutes, and double that every refill. Maybe her old cell phone if one of the cheapies wouldn't work where she moved to

Do we know for sure that she has new cell phones? What if Kyron got away and tried to call? prob not,, but not 100% not.

If someone asked me to go by them a cell phone, I think I would be suspecious at the very least of my own best friend, unless there was reason to go buy it. (maybe thats just me, Im very nibby about whats going on)This same best friend would buy it for me, no questions asked.

Im sure (no matter what LE says) she is being watched 24/7. Since its been 7 weeks, I think shes free and clear if she just goes about normal business as usual.

Also, I said it "makes sense" if she is guilty that she would not be willing to speak directly to LE. I said nothing at all about her right to have an attorney. It simply makes sense for someone who is being investigated in the same manner a suspect would be to stop speaking to LE and to communicate through an attorney.

Any attorney will advise their client, regardless of guilt, to not speak to the police. It "makes sense" if she is guilty or innocent.

I want to address this.

The above quote is wildly inaccurate. It is possible for someone to listen in on an outgoing call without touching the phone (by essentially building a mini cell tower). However, that technology has only existed for the past few days... it was released at a conference for hackers.

Other than that, you can't spy on a phone that hasn't had the software necessary installed on it.

The only way someone could have done this without touching the phone would be to find an undiscovered "userland" security hole and get her to visit a website on her phone.

The only people who find these holes are EXTREMELY talented hackers and programmers who spend almost literally all day every day looking at mobile phone code. There is nothing that a police department could buy equipment wise to do this. (For reference, it's taken the team of hackers that develop iPhone unlocks 3 years to find one of these "userland" security exploits. They are extremely rare and when found they are patched with extreme urgency by the phone manufacturer).

What are the chances that someone with this skillset has been trying to monitor Terri or send texts/emails/etc from her phone?

As I said in another post... somewhere between hell freezing over and pigs flying.
