Wow, well I guess they will be filing a subpeonea for the records to the new phone. Good Golly Miss Molly.. if you want to appear guilty just keep being unwise in your decisions to do things. I wonder how Houze feels about his client continuing to do things that are not in her best interest. Sexting, allegedly telling M. Cook to lie to her attorney, involving friends. goes IMO to state of mind, she thinks she can skate and makes me believe even more that this woman is not rational. If she isn't careful her high profile lawyer could dump her.

Makes me wonder about the theory that she may have had a "throwaway phone" before Kyron went missing. You can buy prepaid phones and activate them without giving real information.

Adding to this, I know from personal experience (a long-distance joke/prank on an old friend) that you can buy "throwaway" phones, provide totally bogus information and even set them up with a totally different state's area code. I live in California and had a Maine "throwaway" phone...for less than $20.

And if TMH is having a web-affair, the person may not be local enough to have "real" sex with - hence the sexting....

This doesn't look good for TH. One thing about the article in the link. It doesn't seem to name a source for anything mentioned in it (unless I missed it). Not even Unnamed Source or cousin Reliable Source. Is this the new norm for reporting?

"Investigators have been focusing on Terri Moulton Horman's close circle of friends after learning that one of them obtained new cell phones for her so she could avoid investigators' scrutiny after becoming the focus of the inquiry into the disappearance of her 7-year-old stepson."

REALLY?!? Who was the smart cookie here who speculated that TH couldn't live w/o her electronics - because you were right on the money.

BBM. Wow, just caught this. New cell phoneS. Plural...more than one. Wow...my oh my. I betcha those records are um, informative to say the least.

TH has become her own worst enemy....IMO

I'm thinking that's what they're counting on . . . .

Anyone think we'll be seeing 'ol Houze exiting stage door left soon?

Where is she getting the money to get a new cell phone or phones (as the article states plural)...Doesn't one have to have $$$ to get a phone? She has no job...no source of income that we know of...so exactly how does this work?

ETA: Are her friends THAT generous?

  • #28
I'm sure the phone cost a lot less than Houze's retainer.

MB -- She did come up with $350k for her atty

I'm sorry but the part about "so she could avoid investigator's scrutiny" is an opinion.

IMO, it is more logical to believe that either KH notified their cell company that he would no longer pay for her phone or her attorney advised her to get a new phone so KH could not access her texts/calls. Either way, TH with no income of her own could get be added to someone else's plan for a lot less than her own plan.

I have very poor reception at my house so I hardly use my cell except for occasional text messages from my niece. Instead of paying $50 a month for a few text messages, my neice added me to her plan for $10 a month.

Oh for goodness' sake! If you're an innocent woman thrust into the midst of a "witch hunt" through no fault of your own, the LAST thing you'd do is put on a pointy black and start riding around on a broom.

Does she not know how serious this is? Her step-son's life is either over or in danger, she's possibly facing abduction, murder and/or murder for hire charges and she's using secret phones to foil investigators? I'm so angry at her! If she's innocent, she's now causing resources to be diverted to search these extra phones and her friends who provided them to her, her friends are now part of a possible abduction/murder/mfh investigation - resources that could be devoted to searching for Kyron. If she's guilty she's completely stupid to think she could use the strategies most commonly employed by cheating spouses and drug dealers to foil a multi-department child-abduction investigation! Insane.

But if they think Terri is responsible for whatever happened to Kyron, dont you think they would keep her phone on knowing it would be bugged, I mean there was no way it wasn't going to be tapped.

Hopefully Terri informed the cops she had a new phone and gave them the number, because thats the only way she can redeem herself from this, imo.

WOW. Just another example that Terri and her friends are thick as thieves. MOO.

Oh Kyron, where are you little darlin'? :( I miss you and I've never even met you.

It would be interesting if, after the publication of the sexting incident, her attorney told her to get throwaway phones.

RBBM

That makes sense, except if you're the focus of a missing child investigation you'd think she (or her attorney) would have current contact information on file with LE. I'm willing to believe this was 'innocent'.... but it makes sense to me that LE would look upon new phones purchased by another party and given to Terri as suspicious.

Was her cell bugged or otherwise tracked, and if so would LE suggest to Kaine that her cell remain active during the investigation?

I appreciate your opinion and your open mindedness, but IMO, there is nothing innocent about this. Something tells me she didn't call up LE and say "hey, I can't get a phone right now so my pal is getting one for me. Here is the number. Please put a trace on it in case the kidnapper calls"

This comes as no surprise to me. Nor do I see it as an indication of guilt or innocence. In all honesty, if I were falsely accused of a crime and had told LE all that I knew, yet suspected that they were still eavesdropping on my private conversations, I'd be buying bat phones, too.

On the other hand, it does tell us that if she and/or her friend(s) were savvy enough to buy a bat phone after the crime, she could've owned one prior to. But that's not much of a surprise, either. My big question is which friend? The article implies, albeit subtly, that DeDe purchased the phones. (The way I read it.) Whether it's DeDe or not, I wonder if the friend bought one for herself, as well.

I was wondering as well, if she had been receiving threats.

What is it she doesn't want LE scrutinizing? Is she in contact with whomever has Kyron?

  • #40
That's easy :) She wanted some privacy. I can understand not wanting to talk on a bugged phone, even if one is innocent, so I'm sure that's what the rationale will be.

grrrr...even if LE was on to this, there would be no way they could get the content of her conversations.

I wouldn't be so sure. Remember the discussion on here a while back about the cell phone spyware?

I am told (by my familial technical experts who are far more tech savy than myself) that spyware on celphones is becoming more and more common. Divorce laywers are eating up all this texting, facebooking and twittering and spywaare is making it possible for spouses all over this country to prove what their other half has been up to.

The web is fulllll of sites just like this one where you can order

http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=148&sid=11765218&hl=14

The process of downloading the software took several attempts and a great deal of patience. But once the spy program was installed, Hebert's phone could indeed be tapped into at any time - just as its distributor promised.

While Hebert was at home making phone calls to her family, i was outside her house, listening to the conversations on his cell phone.

And there's more - much more.

Every time Hebert made or received a phone call, I received an instant text message, telling me that Hebert was talking on her cell phone so that I could call in and listen.

On My PC, I was also getting copy of Hebert's text messages and a list of phone numbers detailing each incoming and outgoing call to Hebert's cell phone.

And no matter where Hebert went with her phone, I received constant satellite updates on her location. I could literally track Hebert anywhere she went.

"It's hard to believe you can do all that," Hebert said when she saw the Cell Phone Software in action. "I think that's really scary."

It gets even scarier.

When Cell Phone Spyware was installed onto Hebert's phone, that phone became an instant spy device - even when the phone was not being used.

As Hebert's cell phone was simply sitting on a table or attached to her purse, I could activate the speaker on the phone and secretly listen in to the phone's surroundings.
