Terri obtained new cell phones from friends to avoid investigator's scrutiny

It would be interesting if, after the publication of the sexting incident, her attorney told her to get throwaway phones.
That's something else I'd like to know that the article does not provide. When were the phones purchased? Immediately after June 4th? Or, later, after KH left? The answer makes a difference in how the information is interpreted.

Folks, this MIGHT be an indication that Kyron is alive and "stashed".

If TH killed him, she'd have no need to talk to anyone about it. On the other hand, if he's stashed, she might need to communicate with the person holding him, or even talk to Kryon himself.

BBM, I'm wondering this too. Kaine's request to Terri's friends about turning in any texts, emails and the like to LE that they may have received in the past (paraphrased) makes more sense now. They are probably trying to figure out all of the phone numbers (and probably multiple email addresses) she was associated with. Either way, there's no doubt left in my mind that Terri is responsible for Kyron's disappearance. The more that comes out, the more her guilt is obvious. I have faith that LE has the details that we don't know about that tie a lot of this together.

BBM. I totally agree, and that points to the suspicion that LE (and possibly Houze) were not informed of these phones.

I wouldn't be so sure. Remember the discussion on here a while back about the cell phone spyware?

Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community - View Single Post - The accusation that TH tried to abduct the baby

Yeah, but someone has to have access to the phone to install the spyware, as I understand it -- like a suspicious spouse. And, imo, she's not giving access to LE or anyone else, for that matter. So it would have had to have been installed by someone else. And I can't think of any likely takers. Maybe I'm misunderstanding how the spyware works, though.

This comes as no surprise to me. Nor do I see it as an indication of guilt or innocence. In all honesty, if I were falsely accused of a crime and had told LE all that I knew, yet suspected that they were still eavesdropping on my private conversations, I'd be buying bat phones, too.

On the other hand, it does tell us that if she and/or her friend(s) were savvy enough to buy a bat phone after the crime, she could've owned one prior to. But that's not much of a surprise, either. My big question is which friend? The article implies, albeit subtly, that DeDe purchased the phones. (The way I read it.) Whether it's DeDe or not, I wonder if the friend bought one for herself, as well.

In prison, all your phone calls are bugged and recorded. I'd be doing my best to stay out of prison and temporarily giving up my cell phone privacy to ensure that. If I were innocent.

What is it she doesn't want LE scrutinizing? Is she in contact with whomever has Kyron?

No kidding, people should be outraged right now, imo. Theres this missing boy and the last person known to be with him needs her privacy, and what if she did hand him off to someone!!! Anything is possible! Why she is always given the benefit of the doubt just baffles me.

I remember they recorded all of Scott Peterson's cell phone conversations - even when he was checking his own voicemail and not connected to another cell phone. In fact, they had a recording of SP listening to his mother's voice mail about a body being found somewhere in Oregon or Washington state (?) and Scott chuckling and deleting the voice mail half way through. If they did that, they'd essentially have to have a microphone on/in the cell itself. I wonder how they did that.

I was wondering as well, if she had been receiving threats.

Was her phone number listed on the RO or other court documents?

Perhaps her phone calls with her attorney? I think her attorney advised her to get a new phone. Of course a story like that doesn't sell newspapers. Much better to have a suspicious subplot to keep our jaws dropping.

It could have been downloaded to her phone. Not sure how the process works, IOW if you need to have the phone itself or just the ability to access it somehow.

I can also see Kaine removing her from his plan and her attorney recommending she get a new phone.

You'd think her attorney would either provide her with a phone or advise her to get one and report it to LE "because of death threats" - to keep her from looking secretive and suspicious. In a high profile case like this, almost anything she does will be analyzed - right or wrong - and knowing this in advance I would think a good attorney would counsel her on how to not appear like a sneaky suspect hiding information from LE.

But we dont know her lawyer advised her to get a secret phone, thats not what is being said, would the Lawyer advise that, I really dont know, but its hard to jump to that without any proof.

:nuts::nuts:

Oh my. I'd love to know if a) her attorney told her to do so or b)what he had to say if he didn't.

Another point: cellphone communication is not private. Anyone can pick up and listen to your phone. Sometimes it happens by accident. Example: we had floods around here, and one day I tried to call someone and instead heard a conversation about a pickup truck floating down a flooded roadway/ditch.

And I believe there are devices that allow you to pick up signals, but would have to research the latest. I'm wondering if any media are trying to monitor her cellphone, and hence she went for a cellphone that's totally untraceable. Then again, does such eavesdropping not depend on having a number, but being in the neighborhood?

I am just gobsmacked by this little tidbit. Boy, that fence-sitting is getting old and the fence is wearing thin, very very thin.

Either she's a sociopath, or else she's incredibly stupid. If the latter, a complicated plan is ruled out. If the former, anything goes.

Excuse me while I examine the growing number of troublesome splinters on this fence.....

actually, I'm pretty sure that it was. Not sure if it was the home number (if there is one) or her cell, though.

KH might've done it just before he moved out.

Just another action by Terri that makes her look guilty as sin (which I am 100% convinced that she is). If she had nothing to do with Kyron's disappearance, then why in the heck did she need a cell phone to avoid investigator's scrutiny? I'm anxious to see how all of the Terri supporters can justify this. JMO.

I haven't been a "Terri supporter," but I have been trying to not convict her until some proof came to light. However, I can't justify this in any way and have now come down off the fence on the side of "she's up to her eyeballs in this."

Regarding the spyware reviewed in the above link:

Will I have to install any software on the phone(s) I wish to spy on?

No. This product only needs to be installed on your phone.

Ok. That is scary as hell.

Because if she buys a cellphone, even one of the throw-aways, there's a track of her purchase, whether online or in person. They can prove that she bought a throwaway phone, where and when.

The whole idea of a throwaway is that it is totally untraceable. Someone buys it for "x" amount of money. It's really cheap. That amount of $ buys you "x" amount of time on that phone. You use it, throw it away.

One of our members (sorry can't recall name right now) has commented how she got one, and simply typed in a false name and the location as another state all the way across the country.

Hang on and let me pick myself up off the floor........

Terri and her friends blow me away with their audacity! If I were being investigated for a crime of which I was innocent, I would NOT do ANYTHING that may even be seen as shady or sneaky! My life would be an open book to 1) find a missing child and 2) try to exonerate myself. What is wrong with these people!?!?

ITA. She just couldn't make herself look any more suspicious. Sexting, unknown cell phones, unaccounted for time. Sheesh! Wonder if any of her friends also provided a computer and ISP access. No wonder LE is searching all of their homes!
