One official said Dzhokhar Tsarnaev contacted the three after FBI agents released photographs of Tsarnaev and his older brother Tamerlan and asked them to dispose of the items.

The bombers either didn't care, or thought there was no threat of them being seen at the marathon, because they walked about in plain sight. They also seemed confident that they wouldn't be caught, but alas, their pictures showed up on TV, and now they panic.

Oh my gosh, right! From the article:

The suspects said they did not know the significance of what they were doing, the official told CNN.

Seriously? So your buddy and his radical Muslim brother are accused of bombing the marathon, their pictures plastered on the news as suspects, and one of them calls to tell you to throw out his backpack full of fireworks AND his laptop and you don't "know the significance" of that?

If that's their best defense, they are toast.

Yes, that's possible, but it would add to the overall bulk. TT's backpack just doesn't look bulked out enough to me.

And then there's still this object, sitting by the bin in front of the Forum, right at the spot where the Richards family later stood. About the size of a pressure cooker. Might just be rubbish..................................

The Richards family was more to the right of this object. Also the bomb was behind them and blew the railings outwards and wrapped around the mailbox. If this was the bomb it would have blown the railings in the opposite direction and would not have wrapped around the mailbox. It would also not account for some victims being in the street as reported by rescue personnel.

The third new suspect, American 19-year-old Robel Phillipos, who will also appear in court, has been charged with lying to federal law enforcement officers. Kadyrbayev and Tazhayakov face up to five years in prison and Phillipos faces a maximum sentence of up to eight years in prison if convicted, the DOJ said.

was watching CNN a couple hours ago, Ashleigh Banfield with Alan Dershowitz and another guy. one of those three said the new arrestees were TT's roommates. hadn't heard before that he was living at that apt

those three were talking and AD said the federal charges were in the category of "waste ... paper basket," worthless, and it's what they do when they really have nothing to go on. they discussed it being a "squeeze" maneuver: you squeeze when you have nothing but you're hoping for some juice

then they went to commercial. immediately back from commercial AD said to AB "these are serious charges, very, very serious"

did he not realize the first convo was on camera, and he was previewing for her so she'd be prepared to respond? his second comments were quite different from what he said 2 mins earlier so I was WTH? no mention of roommate situation in second conversation either, that I remember (but I was running out the door so may have missed it)

They took it upon themselves because they saw the photos circulated and decided to get rid of the empty fireworks and laptop because their friend was "in trouble." Investigators were on to them because of their electronic communication with DT during the manhunt. Fox

Fox should read the criminal complaints against these three before commenting.

Sounds like there were very incriminating texts between them all.

There was a female interviewed Saturday when the two students were first interviewed. CNN reported there was a female living at their residence who reportedly was DT's girlfriend. Whether it's the same female or not, no females are under arrest or detained.
